I've started to spec out a new productivity system and I'm looking at the Precision 7530 and would like to know if it would power dual 4k@60hz monitors? Would I need to use the Thunderbolt Dock (TB18DC)?

    Precision 7530 Specs
    -i9
    -P3200
    -32GB
    -15.6" UltraSharp UHD IGZO, 3840x2160

    Monitors
    - (2) Dell UltraSharp 27 4K HDR Monitor: UP2718

    Thanks in advance.

If the iGPU (Intel HD 630) is disabled, and you have adequate ports, I don't see why not.
And are you sure you specifically want that model?

It will support 2x 4K 60 Hz even with the Intel GPU enabled. The Intel GPU can drive this resolution. I've done it in both the 7510 and 7530.

You do not need the Thunderbolt dock, but if you don't have the dock, you will need a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter. You can use this adapter for one of the screens and mini-DP on the system for the other.

If you disable graphics switching (using NVIDIA GPU only) I think you will get HDMI 2.0 so you can use that for the second screen instead of the USB-C adapter.

Completely satisfied, aside from multiple issues regarding the TB18DC dock.

I have a Radeon WX4150 7730 and can confirm it drives two monitors at 4K/60, one through the mini displayport and one through the HDMI port, with no dock, adapters or setting changes required. I did have to enable a couple of obscure options on my monitor (LG 27UD68) to get 60hz on HDMI, I believe they were pixel scaling to 1:1 and enablement of "LG ultra deep color" or some such.

Do you know if it's also possible to use the internal screen (4K, 7530) in addition with the two 4K external monitors ?

    Thanks,
    David

Yes, it works, I am running in this configuration. It works with graphics switching turned both on or off.

    Aaron44126,

I finally received my Dell UP2718Q 27" monitors this week. I connected the 1st monitor to my Dell Precision 7530 via MiniDisplayPort and it worked great at 4k@60. I tried to connect the 2nd monitor via HDMI and it couldn't find the HDMI source. I tried both HDMI ports on the monitor and neither work. However, on display properties - I can see all 3 monitors listed - but no signal on the 2nd external monitor. I tried flipping the monitors and same issue - HDMI won't display. I changed the Display adapter properties for the one connected via HDMI to 1920 x 1080 and then it worked. As soon as I moved it back to 4k- it lost signal.

Should I be using a USB-c to displayport for my 2nd external monitor? or should the HDMI be able to power the second monitor at 4k@60? I'm trying to avoid getting the TB18DC dock.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with Dell last night and they couldn't resolve the issue. They want me to send the laptop into Dell ARC so they can review. (Since I received the laptop back in late Oct, I've had the keyboard replaced, DC in cable replaced, cable from motherboard to battery replaced and they also decided to replace the battery even though it didn't need to be.

    Thanks,
    Tim - [email protected]
