Dell Precision 5510 Owner's Review

This review is based on a shipped Dell Precision 5510 as well as time spent with a pre-production unit borrowed from a Dell rep. All opinions expressed are my own. All photos are my own. I do not work for Dell, but have used Precision mobile systems extensively since 2006 starting with the M90.

BlackMagic Speedtest - (1621MB/sec read, 1009MB/sec write)


Display Measurements -

Brightness is 349 nits. Black level is 0.44 at max brightness.

Gamma is 2.26

Native white point is 6700K. It is ever so slightly cooler than a completely neutral 6500K. As can be seen in the calibration curves below, the Red and Green are essentially perfect. The Blue has a slight correction at higher intensities.

Color gamut covers more than 100% of AdobeRGB and 98% of NTSC. NTSC is only lacking a tiny bit of deep blue. The amounts is small enough that it could be hardware variance on the panel or my colorimeter. Since it covers more than NTSC in some sections, I would personally call this 100% NTSC.

Uniformity is very good.

Average Delta-E is 0.70 – Best I have measured on a notebook.

This is an incredibly good screen.

Is this basically the same as the XPS 15? But beefed up? How can I buy one? I'm being pointed to a business dealer.

Depending on the country you are in, you can just order it from the Dell website or call the sales number. Not sure if you can place an order using the Live chat found on their website.

P.S- you might want to edit your previous post and remove the quoted images. It's just duplicating and cluttering this thread.

 

Posted pics. All of the systems that I have seen have Samsung 951 drives.

 

Time for an 5510 owners lounge.

Waiting for mine, wondering if 256Gb m.2 is also Pm951. Those have poor write performance.
