One thing about the 5510 is that it is unexpectedly heavy, probably because the 4K screen.

My 5510 weighs 1.93kg / 4.25 lbs with the 6 cell battery and FHD display. I consider the weight quite reasonable given that the cooling system contains a lot of metal while the metal base is also quite substantial (I think it is a key structural component). The 5510 is noticeably lighter than the E5570 - mine weighed in at 2.35kg / 5.2 lbs and that's without the dGPU.

A 5510 version with the 4 cell battery and M.2 SSD should weigh about 0.1kg less (lithium battery cells normally weight about 50 grams each). I don't know if the rare version of the 5510 without the dGPU is significantly lighter. Travel weight can be reduced by carrying a 65W PSU (if envisaging fairly light usage) or 90W PSU (if envisaging medium usage).

I've received the 5510 today and already typing on this forum in edge it is struggling a lot, missing key presses and bonging at me. Strange, but side by side, the M1530 is instantaneously responsive, this lag is pretty terrible. I've created the recovery stick and going to run updates which hopefully eradicates this problem

EDIT: It seems the problem is there is chrome too, almost as if its trying to process what I'm typing as I'm doing it, a bit like typing into google search bar, just laggy. Hmm, with hardware this fast and new, I wasn't expecting this kind of initial experience.

    1. Have you been to the Dell support site and downloaded / installed everything (including BIOS and Thunderbolt firmware) for your service tag?
    2. Is Windows (which version?) trying to update itself? (As a minimum Windows will be doing housekeeping).
    3. Run HWiNFO and check that the CPU speed is varying over the full range.
    4. Run Speedtest on your internet connection and make sure that is in the expected range.

I'm pretty sure that the 1080 version is lighter than the 4K touch. The display is kinda like a big piece of glass. See, Dell advertises the model being 3.93 lb., the 4K big battery, 6-cell I guess, is about 5+ lb, and I am not even talking about the travel weight.

I've been using an E6430, which is not light, and I have access to E6530's, E6540's, E7440's, E7450's, and even the newer E7470. The difference between a 4K touch and a 1080 non is very noticeable. If you had something light like the E7470 with the 2K touch display in your lap, opened, the laptop would tip over because it's top heavy.

Dell's data sheet says "1.78kg (3.93lb) with UHD non-touch panel and SSD" but I've never had a Dell notebook which is as light as the headline weight (the E5570 was particularly overweight). The specs in the back of the user manual list the weight difference between the two types of battery as 0.1kg / 0.22lb therefore I reckon the minimum weight with small battery, M.2 SSD and FHD non-touch is 1.83kg. It's possible that Dell weighed the rate version without dGPU. Other manufacturers also tend to use the least heavy hardware configuration in their advertising.

You are correct that the glass for the touchscreen will add to the weight: Notebookcheck' 5510 review lists 2.02kg / 4.45lb for UHD touch, small battery and 2.5" drive while an FHD non-touch XPS15-9550 with small battery and 2.5" drive weighted 1.96kg / 4.32lb which implies that the UHD touchscreen adds about 0.06kg / 0.13lb. (Notebookcheck appears to be one of the few review sites, apart from myself, who make a point of reporting the actual weight and not copying the manufacturer's specifications.)

Have any of you had instability of the display port to 4K or other monitor? On waking up from sleep mine has to have the dongle pulled out then reseated otherwise the monitor blinks one and off.... Dell has no ideas.

Right. My is about 5 lb, and that's probably due to the NVMe SDD and the larger battery configuration - this is what I meant by unexpectedly heavy. This is probably true on any model with the touch screen option, but it may be more so to the 5510 or the XPS line because they are supposed to be slim and light.
