Nope, not shipped yet. Ordered extended battery. Did you reorder? Mine is listed as "in production" - unsure if that means anything.

You can't disable switchable GFX in the BIOS on the 3510 or 5510. Only on the 7510 & 7710. For the 5510 you can go into the NVIDIA control panel and change the global GFX setting to only run on the NVIDIA GFX.

Can you change it to run only the Intel graphics?

This is an option in the NVIDIA control panel. Also, you can just disable the NVIDIA card in device manager.

mine just arrived a few hours ago. config is
    Xeon chip
16G memory (upgrade to 32 arrives tomorrow, couldn't configure it that way grr)
    1T SSD
    win10 pro
FHD screen (I care more about battery life than graphics, would disable GPU if I knew how)
bigger (81w?) battery - too early to judge anything about it, but hoping for more than the ~6 hours folks with the UHD screen have been reporting.

First off, the keyboard is much better than expected. I had tried an XPS15 at best buy and was really worried. Didn't even need to "adjust" - is very comfortable (if a little shallow). I do miss the TrackPoint, but not worth it for another 1.5 pounds and waiting until January for the P50. Touchpad seems fine if a little noisy on the click.

more in a few days, after I've added the extra memory and had time to get a sense of battery life.

You should check with dell customer support to make sure it hasn't been cancelled or delayed.

    My 2 cents

If one disables via either of the this two ways, and then reboots into Linux (or any other OS), is this setting going to persist? Or one always needs to run Windows in order that it runs the driver software that disables the NVIDIA?

I don't work with Linux, but couldn't you just disable or uninstall the NVidia driver within Linux?

Glad to find this forum - Kudos to all you folk for sharing experiences:
I'm just about to order (in UK): my main use is Solidworks CAD which is a single thread CAD program where processor speed is THE most important factor. At base plugged into a 2560 x 1600 monitor and external keyboard:
    So planning on
    • Xeon E3-1505M to get max GHz (3.7 turbo)
    • 16G ram (later 32)
    • FHD IPS (1920x1080) (as my eyes are not so new :) ) & use 2560 x 1600 monitor.
    • 1TB M.2 PCIe Solid State Drive, MPWS (for speed and space) and allows:
    • 84 WHr 6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
Question: how to connect to older 30in dual DVI-D monitor at 2560 x 1600 ? (current M4600 uses an active displayport to dual DVI-D adaptor). ???
BUT 5510 only has usb3 or completely new thunderbolt 3 and HDMI v1.4 .

Apparently the new thunderbolt 3 docking station ships 1st week in Jan > scroll down... http://www.dell.com/uk/business/p/precision-m5510-workstation/pd?oc=xctop5510emea

SO is the new dock the only way to power older big monitors ?
Or .. is it time to get a new monitor as well :) eg 34in Curved Monitor | U3415W (3440 x 1440 wider but lower). ??

Any thoughts, espech from fellow 'CAD monkeys' welcome :)
