My 5510 came with a 256GB Toshiba nVME SSD which worked OK but it didn't stay in for long as it was replaced by a 1TB Sandisk X400 which I already had - only SATA but I value capacity over higher headline speed which is barely noticeable in my everyday usage. Recently the X400 was replaced by a 2TB WD Blue (also SATA) which may be replaced by a 2TB nVME device once (i) the prices become reasonable and (ii) there's an affordable nVME to USB adapter - I like to have a backup way to get to the SSD contents should Windows throw a tantrum.

nice John, yeah I think I'll be hanging on to this baby and upgrading the RAM and SSD and someday slap a nVME in

Hi all, I am trying to update my 5510 (running Windows 10 Pro) to the latest firmware 1.8.0. I have tried both the windows app and a USB, neither is successful. The system reboots in both cases and then loads windows without any feedback or error.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

My 5510 upgraded to 1.8.0 without any problems.

Make sure that the power supply is plugged in. Have you got any other devices plugged into the computer? (disconnect them); Are you upgrading from 1.7.0 or an older BIOS?

I'm currently on 1.7.0. I've tried multiple ways including with a fully charged battery and the charger plugged in, as well as connected to thunderbolt dock. Nothing has worked.

Have you tried two times in a row?
At some time ago my first Bios upgrade did not do anything so I did it one more time and then it worked. Starting from windows both times.

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried multiple times (3) in a row this morning without success.

Am I the only one who is having issue applying 1.8.0 firmware (from 1.7.0)?

    ^ ?

i was thinking of increasing the ram from 16 to 32 and have a few questions please

is the max speed the 5510 memory can run at 2400 ? i read somewhere that if you buy higher speed memory you will not get over 2400.

is 2100 that the 5510 came with the optimal/ preferred speed for the 5510? if so does anyone know the make/brand product code so its possible to buy another 16 of the same.

if cant find the same as the 16 already installed any reason not to buy 16 of 2100 of another make/brand? wouldnt cause any conflicts would it.

    thanks
