You usually don't even get the latest BIOS when you buy a machine new. It is super easy to upgrade the BIOS. Download the latest one from support.dell.com, it comes as an .exe file, just run it and it will reboot and install the BIOS update all by itself.

Assume that the BIOS and drivers are old - most likely when the hardware was originally made and the BIOS is likely to be several versions out of date. Put the service tag into the Dell support site to get the list of all the latest versions of software and drivers including the Thunderbolt firmware and driver. Then, once you get the computer, work through this pile of downloads, starting with the BIOS, then Thunderbolt and other chipset drivers, then everything else. The update packages will tell you if they don't need to be installed.

As expected, this is a simple refresh with updated CPU and GPU.

I presume that the "NVIDIA Quadro M1200 with42GB GDDR5 dedicated memory" has a typographical error. Searching for information about this GPU leads me to this which is a different Dell web page but has the same content.

I assume the new gpu's are the Mobile 'M' versions too? Although neither actually say it. I'm still glad I purchased when I did, it's stable, and has been since buying it. The xps on the other hand was very crash happy, and to have to go through that again, I don't think I'd get another high end notebook until it's been out a little while and also benefit from Dell outlet discount

As pointed out on the Reddit, the "M" at the front of the Quadro model number would indicate that it is Maxwell-based and not Pascal-based (which would be the Quadro P1000M). That's a disappointment...

The Quadro M1200M would seem to be better than a M1000M but not as good as a M2000M :p

sweet 42GB gpu!. ;) clearly that part is a typo. Sounds strange though for nvidia to introduce yet another Maxwell quadro designated as "m1200" which presumably would mean an upgrade from the current m1000m. Why introduce an m1200 ?... unless that too is a typo or unless somehow different power consumption or some other benefit. Guess we'll find out. Is cool to see updated system though. Curious about keyboard changes if any.

kaby seems to be 200mhz factory overclocked skylake, thats barely going to make any difference, gpu is not pascal based quadro. The keyboard seems to be the same ****ty on the current one. no word/ probably no optane support.

i dont mean to be harsh but Dell is not even trying at this point.
It seems like they fluked into the thin bezel thing and are now clueless as to what do next.
