My 2670qm prime 95 is around 80. 20ambient. So yours should be normal.

idle is around 55s with lowest level fan on.

I think if you disable turbo, it cool little bit, but i dont think it is anything to worry about.

These curves can be helpful for understanding.
All tests from different M6600 machines with: 2720QM, 2860QM and 2960XM.

Method of testing was always the same:
As you can see M6600 with 2960XM is much hotter, louder and much more expensive. Benefit is only 200MHz over 2860QM and 350MHz over 2720QM
Turbo Boost for every CPU starts always for first 60 sec.

    For your info:
    IC Diamond used for 2960XM
Noctua NT H1 used for 2860QM
    Arctic MX-2 used for 2720QM

Thanks Katmai. Those things are there.

Lnd27, is this the same machine you had fan trouble with the last time? If you didn't get that problem sorted then the increased heat is going to amplify it.

It runs hotter, so just let the cooling system handle it. Not ideal or perfect, but still fast!!!
Just keep it clean and fix that fan; my fans don't bother me.
I posted this in the 6700 thread last week, really made things a lot better by lifting the rear; better airflow and less dust. There is a kitchen cabinet liner underneath that keeps it from slipping.
    Hardware store, cheap. :)
