Thanks for the good information guys. I'm highly considering the E4200 due to its size , and i'd like to know:

    1) I'd like to use MS Visual Studio 2008 and other software with "minimum system requirements" of 1.6ghz or higher. Does that mean that this software will not even install on the E4200? Any ways to trick it into installing?

20 How is the screen on this thing? I see that it's labeled as an Ultrasharp. I'm especially curious of a comparison to the E4300 screen.

    Thanks.

    hi,

but this is old. They build in a 1.6 Ghz CPU and they only use 1.4. It is because of the voltage, I think.

But the fake is, the Intel SU CPUs can be throttled to 800Mhz. The Dell E4200 goes only down to 1.00 Ghz. They have so a s*** BIOS. If they will use 800Mhz the CPU will be more cooler than with 1000. For meetings it would be great!!

with the LCD: The LCD is great in angle and for Office work. For Vids or 3D animations it isn't good.

If you use Windows Vista, look inside the Power Options, then under "Edit plan Settings" of the selected power plan. Then inside that, click on "change advance power settings". A panel will open. On it, check out "processor power manager" and change the minimum/maximum "power" of the CPU.

Like I said, Vista drivers allows to de-overclock the system when you don't need the power, by setting the min/max percentage speed of your computer.
For me on my Latitude E6400, I set the CPU speed from the range of to 1% (min) to 50%(max) for the power saver profile. And under High Performance I set 100% for min and max (and my CPU Overclocks 3% when I attach the power cable)

Yes, plug-in and set the Vista power manager to High Performance. Only these in combination will overclock the CPC (maybe balance power mode.. but I never use it)
It overclocks at 3% maximum not much but sure helps when you need a little bit more power.

    As this picture demonstrate:
