Did you install the Dell system software before any of the other drivers? This contains a lot of patches for XP that are needed to get everything else to work properly. I wonder if you are missing the HD Audio driver. However, I recall there are some problems with installing this on XP SP3.

The IDT driver has been updated, but I don;t think this will fix your problem.

I have the same problem as WarrenJ. Installing the Dell System Software had no effect whatsoever, and installing the HD Audio driver didn't work since kb888111 isn't designed for SP3. The latest IDT driver also does not solve the problem.

    Any suggestions?

EDIT: I have found the solution on the Dell Community Forum ->
