You will need to get a new OEM AC adapter, since the jack is working and identifies the car charger.

If you have Intel graphics, a PA-12 or PA-2E will be fine, and if you have NVIDIA graphics, you need to get a PA-10 or PA-3E. The PA-2E and PA-3E are E-series adapters, which are thinner.

i checked and yes i have the intel graphics. one more thing, i recently had to replace the HD due to a crash, i had a 7200rpm 250GB, the one i replaced it with was a 5?00rpm 120GB (at the time i didnt know how the rpms effect performance), but the new HD came loaded with all the software and drivers for the D630 so it was a simple PnP deal. now its REAL slow... i removed the keyboard today to see what RAM i had and its got a 512/512... while i was going into my computer to check the graphics card, i noticed it says theres 504 MB or RAM... could it not be recognizing one of the sticks?

What OS are you running? 1GB for Windows XP should be sufficient, but you can always upgrade to Windows 7 with 4GB memory (which runs quite well on the D630).

Intel graphics reserves a portion of system memory for graphics, so that 504MB comes out of your 1GB total memory.
