    @nomoredell:

    I would beg to differ about the D420 and 430 with Aero - I'm running both on Vista/Win7 just fine and with acceptable user performance.

    The key here is that everyone has their own perception of acceptable, but my machines are smooth, but that has something to do with the fact that I heavily tweak my vista/Win7 configuration as I disable unneeded services, use CCLeaner at every boot, and defrag weekly.

    I think these smaller machines are not desktop replacements, but everything made in the D series since the Dx20's are Vista and Aero ready. That was the reason for the new versions. These machines have a relatively small RAM cap, but for office use, business graphics, photo editing, and web/e-mail, these are tough systems to beat when it comes to value (on the outlet), peripheral commonality, battery life, and portability.

    @mvalpreda: Good luck with the E4200 - Congrats on your new rig. The E series makes lots of economical sense against their predecessors if you're not already invested in the D Series peripherals. I think Dell Outlet is the way to go for all purchases if you can find a config that meets your needs/wants.

    I like the style of the D series myself and I have 2 docks, and numerous batteries/media bays, etc. so moving to a new E would create some chaos for me at this stage.

    You really need to tone down the negative rhetoric where Dell equipment is concerned. I have noticed this in many of your posts of late. Did Dell hurt you? I would be happy to listen to you if your points were well-stated and backed up by solid evidence, which they clearly are not. Do you own a D430? No, you do not. I do, as I do an E4200, and a XPS M1330, and previously a D630 and a plethora of other Latitudes and Inspirons. You will have many owners agree with me that the D430 runs Vista *just* fine. Sure it can do better, but let me tell you something. I ran Vista Ultimate with Aero on my Samsung NETBOOK for months WITHOUT a single tweak and WITHOUT a SSD to speed it up. And it ran like a champ as it does on the D430.

    The D430 runs Vista just fine. Please don't say this is not the case if you don't even own the machine.
