Well if you have issues connecting to other tv's via hdmi i would say there is a problem with notebook hdmi output, or nvidia gpu. But these are just wild guesses.

If you can get your hands on dell pr02x or pr03x dockign station, you can use DP on it in combination with DP to HDMI adapter.

I'm using that combo on my M6600, because when I dock my notebook i cant connect anything to HDMI as dock is blocking it. Sound also goes trough it.

    Let's say...

    1. I buy a dock station
    2. disable Optimus in BIOS
    3. connect my laptop to dock station
    4. Use DVI to HDMI cable to connect laptop to output display to plasma

is the DVI & display port connectors in the dock station get automatically to the laptop's Intel HD graphics or the NVIDIA NVS?

Use dp to hdmi to get sound to tv. On m6600 dp and hdmi used nvidia, only vga and lap lcd were intel.

Can you write down exact tv model name here? If you watch br movies trough laptop br drive it shouldnt matter, at least i think so.

Are you sure that 24 hz is only for br playback and not for all imput connectors, because if it is, you could try connecting hdmi directly once again and in nvidia control panel set the refresh rate to 24hz for your tv. If tv cant accept fhd at 60hz and windows dont recognize needed settings no wonder you dont have picture on it.
