    :hi2:

I just got a hand-me-down Latitude E6420 from my brother-in-law in really good condition. I was particularly exited that it's got a built-in HDMI connector so I can output videos to my plasma tv.

I was high on enthusiasm until it indicated no signal from my plasma tv:mad:

My NVIDIA control panel indicates that my panasonic plasma tv is connected, but there is no signal output to tv at all:(

I'm at loss as to what to do next...

    Here's my specs:

    CPU: Core i5 2540M @ 2.60 GHz
    RAM: 6 GB
HD capacity: 319,924,727,808 bytes (297 GB)
    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
GPU: NVIDIA NVS 4200 and Intel HD3000 graphics.

Other notes/changes I made since I received this E6420 laptop:

    1. I updated BIOS to the latest version - A21
    2. I disabled Optimus in BIOS... that means I'm currently running my GPU purely in NVIDIA mode
    3. I updated the NVIDIA driver to the most recent version - 333.11

Do you have another display with an HDMI input with which you can test the HDMI output of the laptop? Does that work?

whew... i thought my post was already buried

anyways... besides the 50 inch Panasonic plasma in my living room I tried connecting my e6420 to a 32 inch LCD TV. Still no signal on TV when I hold [windows logo key] then press P until I reach "Projector Only" mode.

I'm still baffled over this... why is my TV detected by NVIDIA and Display settings in ctrl panel and yet no signal to my TV.
Even the NVIDIA Control Panel says my TV is HDCP compliant.

On my Precision M6600 I wasnt able to use extended desktop with intel + nVidia once all windows updates were installed and once i was running latest nVidia drivers. Try extended desktop that used to work for me.

I even tried Extended desktop too... still no signal output to my plasma tv. I use HDMI-1 on my TV by the way, the same slot currently occupied by my satellite box.

I usually hear win64 has issues with drivers (at least back in the day)
Latitude e6420 is my first 64 bit PC

by the way, I just re-enabled Optimus in BIOS.

I wonder if posting my dxdiag will be of any help in resolving this HDMI issue...

ok, my Panasonic Viera G20 50 inch plasma has a VGA input.

I have some spare VGA cable and I connected my Latitude e6420 to my plasma.

    lo and behold... it worked!
    but resolution wasn't 1080p.

I really want the HDMI to work.

Has anyone ever faced an issue like this?
