By design, Displayport doesn't do audio (sure, it's in the spec, but it's optional, and no manufacturer has bothered to implement it.)

Ok Jaakobi, you lost me on this one.

If there is no audio DP-HDMI, then why did TZuki get audio on a Sony TV?

Would seem the TV got it but the monitor did not...

or did I miss something?

the computer could recognize it as HDMI and assume audio is going to it, but anyways I do believe no one has implemented Displayport audio.

oh wait, does he say that it worked with his friend's TV? He should probably say more about his setup then.

    what about my setup?
ive got an E6400 (P8400, 4500mhd, 4gb ram, 320gb@7200rpm hdd) ive connected it directly (without any receivers, splitters, kvms or any other equipment in between) to my LG 26lc2r
if im not mistaken my friend got a Sony KDL-40W4000E, ive connected my e6400 to his tv directly, used the same cable on both tvs

    update:
ive updated the gma drivers (from those that win7 installed for me to the most recent on the intel site) now i have sound on the LG but there is a hell lot of static and noise coming together with the sound on the teli every time that the computer produces a sound. when there is nothing is playing sound the static is gone, could it be that the hdmi specification on the tv are out of date or something?

well it might still be the drivers. If the TV is really old, then it might be a problem with the HDMI version. You should probably connect it to your friend's TV again and see what kind of settings or properties show up in Playback devices when you right click on the audio icon in the system tray. Maybe you should buy your friend's TV instead? ;)

my tv is not that old (i bought it during 04/2007), well i fiddled with everything in the drivers menu, there are no audio settings whatsoever, i haven't installed the IDT drivers (right now im using windows generic driver that works just fine) maybe that's the reason?

that's decades in tech years :) . Which HDMI version is it? I guess you should try the IDT drivers.

frankly, i dont know. i only know that radeon 9800pro and GF8600GTS were connected via dvi->hdmi cable and they worked fine.

cant find the idt driver that works on win7, wich version should i get?
