    My M4400 has the maximum temp about 85c when i stress on GPU...

    but it's still working fine that I don't have to do change on it.

    True, but even an order of magnitude of conductivity is still dwarfed by the diff. between 1) Having any Contact, vs. 2) Having any gap filled by Air.

    Btw, I've never seen a real world application where Liquid Pro results exceeded Arctic Silver 5 by more than 3C-5C, and many people get slightly worse than AS5. If you're seeing diff of 20C, trust that its not the TIM alone. Can you corroborate, or show others that get double-digit differences from paste only?

    I'd like to take a moment to thank all those who have already posted. I am now writing the email to Dell Finland, but for those who haven't posted yet, please do! There's no telling how long they will take to read this, and if more and more people post here, the larger the chance they will believe these thermal pads are not a good cooling solution.

    In either case, I think this will is becoming enough to convince whoever reads it that all is not well with these thermal pads. I am planning to ask them whether they can do a copper mod for me (I doubt it), but if they can't maybe I can convince them to use quality thermal paste and be careful when applying it, even if I have to pay for the paste.

    The going to 102deg and locking up problem is fixed in later firmware/BIOS for your machine.

    The thermal paste comparisons above are almost irrelevant and pointless. The minute amounts of paste involved make its thermal conductivity almost irrelevant.

    In use the temperature drop across difference from one paste and the other will be .1deg or less, if correctly applied.

    I am already using the latest BIOS (A12) and GPU drivers (A06). This problem was also present with BIOS A11 and/or GPU drivers A04 and A05.

    You might need to do something like this: Copper Mod

    Note: Copper Mod does not solve problems arising from a weak die/packaging material set in certain versions of nVidia GPU. Their failure appears related to the combination of the interaction between the chip material set and the system design. The combination of limited thermal management and frequent power cycling is particularly challenging for the GPU. However, Copper Mod might help delay the failure by improving the thermal management.

    Yes, I would also like this. Actually I already thought about calling Dell and asking if they could send a technician to apply a thermal paste which I'd buy. I know how to do it myself, I already did that several times before, but I don't want to loose my warranty.



    As I already stated in the Thread M4400 BIOS A13 released, UT3 FPS doubled on my FX1700M, my GPU was throttling heavily before A13 came out:
    Maybe that information is useful here, because the difference was really huge
    Again, I would be willing to pay for a new cooling system or any solution that keeps my machine cooler. While it's no longer downclocking, it's still nowhere as cool as it could be, which is a real pity as that means that the fan could theoretically stay off even with some more load.

    EDIT: Here are my max temperatures:

    Especially the P8600 gets surprisingly hot. (I'm aware that GPU and CPU share the same cooling system)

    Yes, that is hot Chris, especially the CPU. Luckily, my CPU gets to 71/77 under load (core 1/core 2). However, this was loading the CPU only, I bet if I load CPU and GPU simultaneously it will get worse.
