    I am in a dilemma.

I was so looking forward to the release of the E4300 and wanted to get one immediately but now I am having second thoughts.
The only real alternatives are the Sony Z and the Lenovo X200 and they both overpriced for europe.

    I got a great deal (at www.lite-com.de ) .

    here's the config:

    BLACK Intel® Core™ 2 Duo SP9400(2.40GHz,1066MHz,6MB) Latitude ON Reader
    Genuine Windows Vista ™ Business SP1 32Bit - German - with Media
13.3in Black Widescreen WXGA (1280X800)Latitude ON Reader with Camera
German - Internal Qwertz Standard Keyboard Backlit
    2GB 800MHz DDR3 memory (2 x 1GB)
160GB Hard Drive (7200RPM) Free Fall Sensor
    Intel WiFi Link 5300 (802.11 a/g/n 3X3) 1/2 MiniCard with Centrino label
    Internal Dell 365 Bluetooth™ Card
    6-cell 60W/HR LI-ION Primary Battery
3Yr Basic Warranty - NBD Included - No Upgrade Selected
    Euro 65W AC Adapter 2pin

The price I should pay is just below 1400€ (a good 200€) cheaper than at dell online.

But and here comes the catch: no money back.

Should I go for it? Is Dell trustworthy enough to offer good build with good battery life, should I really go for something that has no hdmi

    The price is pretty sharp.

The downsides are that the 6 cell sticks out (as far as I know), and that the real weight is unknown. I'm expecting 1,80kg.

What I find strange with the european E4300 is that the LED backlight is not mentioned in the Dell configuration tool.

Like you said, no HDMI is another downside.

I would wait until you see some reviews. The cheapest Z is around 1600-1700 but may have a lot better screen.

I think the only option on the 4300 is the LED screen.

Yeah me too. I'm just saying it's strange that the european site does not mention it while you're configurating, but the US site does.

In the specifications it is mentioned though.

    In the technical specs it states "13,3-Zoll-Breitbild-WXGA-Display (1280 x 800) mit LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung"

Don't think you can get it without LED. Still LED is not LED so I will rather wait for a review. The price surely won't go up and although it may cost me a month or so in additional waiting time that should be fine... I guess...

Why can't someone post a friggin review :D

I am more tending towards the Sony Z as opposed to the X200 because the screen is like woah and with the higher res ist would be like WOAH, but the main downer is the price.

The downer of the E4300 is the lack of HDMI and reviews.

So I made myself take a decision:

Can I wait? That is the main question you should ask yourself.
The E4300 won't be shipped until mid to end of october. And if you can wait that long another couple of weeks are also tolerable that you "waste" in waiting for a review (what hope to get somtime beginning of october).

Well I have to wait :D
The X200 is also not available yet (and totally overpriced in Europe) and for the Z I would have to save more money :(

    Let's continue the wait...

weight with 6 cell is around 3.8lb I believe. User guide is out and it has detailed specs on how much each battery weighs.

My question is, can I order an air bay so I dont have to carry optical drive all the time? It's not an option on the website.

If you mean the lite-com.de then email then, they can make most things work.

If you mean Dell then phone and ask, it's toll free anyway (at least for germany, don't know where you are from).

If what happened with the E6400 is any indication, real weight with 6 cell, HDD (instead of SSD), 4GB RAM will come out higher than 4lbs I expect. E6400 was promised at 1.95kg but came out 2.31kg with 6 cell.

I'm not sure though, looking forward to any real review.
