If money is not an issue then go for it! Whether or not it's worth the extra $50 is questionable though. Personally, I can't justify paying an extra $50 that could be better spent elsewhere (more RAM, for example), and $50 is pretty steep for what is basically a couple of LEDs. Besides, what good is a backlit keyboard if you're a touch typist?

Trust me, it has l337 affects on the brain that enhances your "touch" typing in the dark. I call myself a touch typer, but in the dark for some awkward reason I forget where to place my hands and feel blind. Often, I will type one full column over in any direction. When you are in spending all that money, $50 is peanuts, and usually they can throw in the backlight for free if you call. Once you go backlight, there's no looking back. I myself said "fiddy dollars!? wdfxx!?", but I got it and don't regret it at all. People love it, I love it, it's become a lifestyle.

Arkainium, if you had it you would now, what it feels, to be in the cool club. But you dont. You just don't.

You are on the dark side. With your dark keyboards, oh how I tear at the thought of those erroneous devices.

I've appreciated my backlit keyboard on those occasions where the lights go out. It was such situations that I had in mind when ordering it. It's no fun trying to type while holding a flashlight in your mouth.

But if you work where the electricity is reliable then the backlit keyboard may not be worth the investment.

    I suspect you can't touch type CTRL-ALT-DEL

Thought it would have been nice if Dell had also had a transparent, lit bezel around the fingerprint reader
