I was wondering if anyone put one of the new Intel 7260HMW (802.11ac Mini PCI Express Bluetooth 4.0 - Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Combo Adapter - 867 Mbps) cards into their Dell Latitude E6x20 or E6x30 machine. I have an E6220, E6320 and an E6430 and was looking at bumping to 802.11ac. Was just curious if anyone had tried yet.

Curious how it will work if I already have Bluetooth in my machine, may need to disconnect it since that card has Bluetooth built in.

Does the E6220 mini-PCI port the wifi card goes into support wifi cards with Bluetooth? I think they need to support USB.

I do not know but I don't really need the BT part of the 7260 as my E6220 already has BT. I'm just curious if the 802.11ac would improve my wifi reception at my home/office as I currently need not only my wifi router, but two other wifi repeaters to cover my modest 1800 sqft home/office due to the way this old house was constructed back in the 1950's. there is a metal mesh in all the interior walls that wrecks havoc with wifi signals.

I took the plunge and I'm going to try it. I think I may have the best luck with the E6430 though. I just upgraded to the new Airport Extreme with 802.11ac.....want to see the performance. The coverage is a bit better, I still need to use a repeater in my garage.....but the rest of the house has another bar (out of 5).

This is where I got it. $28.99 with free shipping. Tax in CA, CT, IL, MA, NY, TN and WA.

Can't wait for the news. Also, on the bay, there are models with different letters after "7260." Is there a difference?

ok got the 7260 today, installed in my E6220 and the BT function doesn't work. driver won't even start. but the built in dell BT card still works fine.

You need to watch out what you buy on the bay. Some of the 7260 is N only, while other versions are AC

Using the 7260AC in my E6220 I'm getting about same throughput as my previous 6300N card with 3 antenna (the 7260 only supports 2 antenna), but better range.

a few spots in my house where I couldn't get a reception on the 6300N or I got 1mbps connection but no data flowing, with the 7260 I'm getting 12 to 28mbps connection speed and can actually brows the web and stream netflix.

This is all on an old Linksys E3000 router running dd-wrt.

That is not bad considering you are using an older non 802.11ac router. I can't wait to see what I get on mine with the Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac.

Not overly surprised by the Bluetooth not working on the new card. I think there is something with the new cards and it needs some new architecture in the mini PCIe slot to work with all that good stuff.

Did you disconnect your existing Bluetooth for kicks? Wonder if it was maybe a conflict. I will try it on my E6430 when the card comes in. After a service from Dell.....my Bluetooth card is now missing. Thanks Dell! Wonder if it the Bluetooth on the new card will work without the Dell Bluetooth in there.

I think the pci port has to have usb and the e6220 pci doesn't have it. I'm hoping it just ignores the USB part of the card.

I didn't try to disconnect the dell BT. I may try it tonight if I Have time. If the PCIe port requires USB to work with the onboard BT, then shouldn't it not see the BT device on the 7260 card at all? Mine sees it as a generic bt adapter but can't start it with the following errors "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Under drivers it list a microsoft driver dated 6/21/2006 I think I need to find newer drivers for it. Installing the latest 7260 drivers from intel support site didn't help.
