Yes, I prefer centered screen too. But hopefully I can get over that in no time. :)

The DisplayPort is nice, but I may get a mini-dock (with the discount) anyway. Besides, ThinkPad still has the best TrackPoint ;) (Yes, I hate touchpads AND widescreens)

I don't know... The D-series is much warmer than the T61. I hate the heat.

On the other hand, I do like the look of the new Latitude/Precision.

The E6400 appears to be significantly lighter, too.
Poo poo me for half a pound, but your body feels weight in percentages, not absolute ounces. That's why an x300 is going to feel leagues lighter than a T400, even though the absolute pounds is like less than 2 lbs.
So that's my major draw to the E6400 right now.
I picked up an xps m1530 that's 5.8 lbs or so, and my macbook pro which is 5.3, and the xps m1530 feels alot chunkier! Call me nuts, but this has always been the case once you start using a laptop over a few months' time.

Looks like a winner to me. As for the "Display could be brighter" con, keep in mind that their review unit came with the 1280x800 screen, which is not LED.

Does anyone know if any NBR posters/reviewers are working on a review?

Wow! The reviews are now coming in, good sign! :D

And yes, I agree with you blindpan. E6400 looks like a winner to me too. It could have been an Editor's Choice had their review unit came with WXGA+ LED screen.

Power users should get the more powerful graphics options?

Yeah, that lost me right there :D.

Most people don't need dedicated graphics anymore.

At least two moderators have E6400s on order and plan to prepare reviews, but delivery is scheduled for ~ mid September.

There seem to be a lot of members who want the facility to play their games. Personally, I found the old GMA950 good enough for my graphics needs and I am looking for power efficiency.

I personally don't need a discrete graphics card as I don't play games. But since I want all memory, as most of my apps are memory intensive, available for the system, I prefer a discrete over shared/integrated.

The Latitudes are business laptops and are not for gaming, so I wish people would stop complaining about the GPU being underpowered. If you need a better GPU for BUSINESS apps, try the Precsions.

"Using our LAPTOP Battery Test, which tests endurance by surfing the Web until the battery dies, the Dell Latitude E6400’s nine-cell battery lasted 5 hours and 17 minutes..."

Isn't that a little short? Hmm...

"The 14.1-inch (1280 x 800-pixel resolution) display looked good head-on, but the screen isn’t quite as bright as the panel on the HP Compaq EliteBook 6930p, whose viewing angles are also more generous from side to side."

I wonder if the 6930p they compared with is using the 1280x800 CCFL or LED, or the 1440x900 CCFL?
