With the $315 off promo, it seems possible to get an M2400 with T9600, 4GB RAM, WXGA+, and 3yr on-site support for $2000 or below.

Hmm... should I wait for a review?

It really depends whether how long will the promo be. Laptopmag said a week ago (August 12) the full review will come shortly...

In that case, I suggest you go for it. I doubt any full reviews will come out this week.

But now there is major promotion going on for ThinkPad T400. Why does buying a laptop have to be so difficult? :(

wow that's an excellent price for the T400

The E6400 is a clearly superior package but it's also more expensive.

The T400 shows up as $847.. and if you use the CPP code, it brings the starting price to $720. That's an amazing price for a brand new model. I agree..its def making it a really hard decision. The Dell EPP discount isn't amazing either. I was able to load up a T400 for $1200. Decisions decisions...

Yes, E6400 is a better package except that it only has DDR2 as oppose the T400's DDR3... Ahh! decisions, decisions!

Why is E6400 clearly a superior package? I want to know. M2400 is still available for under $2000 with T9600 and 4GB RAM. :)

Will the Dell cools better than the ThinkPad? I still do a bit of lap-top computing.

Well I was not the one who said "superior package," but I said better package mostly because of the design, not necessarily the build cause I've never seen both before. For one, the E6400 has centered screen :D, good placements of USB ports, which is horizontal plus it has 4, unlike the 3 in the T400 and mic and speaker jacks placement on the side. eSata and DisplayPort is also a plus... what else? I'll think of some more... :)
