    Hi guys,

does anybody know when M6400 will be available with LED option?

I read - in some post - that the LED displays have quality issues.

btw, if I order the notebook now (with CCFL option) can I upgrade to LED afterwards?

    cheers

    1) they claim it'll be available in November
    2) You need to discuss a lot! Dell won't replace the display, if you don't have a failure! Of course you could buy the Display from Ebay, but you will lose the Dell guaranty! I'd try to order the notebook with the right display from Dell!!

Yeah, Dell also "claimed" it would be available in October.

At this point, I have given up on the RGB screens from Dell. Actually, I think I have given up on Dell this time around.

Maybe next year they will come out with a new system that will impress me, but for now the Sony wins out!

Dang, first I heard they should come out last week, then October, now it's November. I really need this screen. Assuming it is as good as they claim...

Yeah, Im real frustrated. I was supposed to have a system for a couple projects by November/ December. Both the HP 8730w and the Dell m6400 were all kinds of advertising about the LED screens as options. Yet both laptops have been out and neither of them are offering the LED screens.

No word on why, or when,

This ALWAYS happens with laptops and I hate it. But at the same time, if Im going to spend so much on a laptop that will last me the next 4 to 5 years, I want the one I WANT.

Im really getting tired of waiting with no word as to when. Also, wish there were reviews of these machines - sometimes reviews come out before release. The HP has been out a month now and still no reviews. What happened to companies sending out early machines for reviews?

How good are they claiming it to be ?
If they are still using TN panels, would there be a signofocant difference form the backl;ight displays ?

I am wondering though whether its worth waiting for, i mainly used my laptop hooked up to a 24" dell screen not directly using its screen, i currently have a m90- with WUXGA lcd screen and have managed alright for the last 2 years.... but i need a machien that will last me for at least another 2....

To me it's worth waiting for. I've developed a handful of logos and brands for startups, and it amazes me how different they look on different screens. I've been on an Inspiron 9300 for a few years now, and the screen is quite possibly the worst I've seen on a 17-incher. It's the one with the light leak from the bottom, and the shoddy viewing angles. A poor quality monitor hides imperfections, and that's no bueno.

I too use a 2nd monitor so I can get a truer vision of what I'm designing, but it would certainly be nice not to be chained to it. What's the point of having a laptop if you have to stay tethered to a fixed monitor for certain tasks?
