    I don't know if Dell ships out their new systems with Vista SP2 but if they don't and you have a Vista with SP2 integrated disc, I would say that's enough to justify a clean install. You should probably image your drive before you clean install just in case you run into problems and want to revert to something that just works. I am running Vista SP2 integrated x64 with no problems on my E6400 and there should not be any problems with a Vista SP2 clean install on your E6500.

    It has SP3 I might in a month because my university gives a bunch of programs for free as part of tuition such as Office 04-07, Vista, and some corporate norton anti virus which I don't love so basically if I decided to clean install I just have to re download that stuff (about 45 minutes)
