Thanks for the link I don't know Windows 7 should come out before I get tired of XP and I have already have my fill of Vista 32 bit or not. I think I am going to start it up really scrutinize the performance and if there is any doubt that its slower, Clean install, I would rather clean than finagle trying to uninstall stuff and work around garbage. Thanks again guys for the help everyone in my family is in some element of design and graphics so they all use macs when I mentioned clean install they looked at me as though I had 4 heads. Dells actually shipping early so I should get the Machine this week

You can also install Windows 7 Release Candidate. I have been using Win7 since I bought this E6400 back in March, and I have no complaints.

You know what is funny? XP is not even a good OS. Microsoft produced far better Windows before.
I never liked XP, and even at SP2/SP3 I still find Windows 2000 superior in many ways. Sure it takes more time to boot, and doesn't have the built-in wireless manager. But at least it was way faster, more responsive, less buggy, more consistent interface. Ahh those where the good old says.

Thats funny because someone I know was comparing XP to vista in terms of when XP came out it was very buggy and by SP2/3 it became more stable he said this will happen with vista I guess SP/2 and 3 will be called 7 because of the terrible public image of Vista

Just started it up I have 59-63 processes running on idle I already Hate control point as I spent 20 minutes fiddling with the network and then magically it connected. Not sure a clean install is necessary I'll have to see, does anyone know how to get rid of MSN just drag it to the recycle bin or what?

I did not say that XP SP2/SP3 was just as bad as when XP was release.
Sorry to disappoint, but Windows 7 was in the works before Vista was even released.. so it's not Vista SP3 or should have been Vista and what you want to call it. Like now Microsoft is already working on Windows 8 and planning Windows 9. That is how business model works, always be a step ahead.
If you think that is bad, look at ANY hardware company, they already have their next product completely done and just waiting until demand of the current product drops down to get you again.

I understand that its just how quickly they released 7 compared to vista, that being said I understand how the development works I know it takes about 4-5 years for a vehicle to go from inception to production. To be honest I have know knowledge of how the PC world works, how OS's are developed I just hear all of the positivity over 7. Anyway I am idleing on 75 Processes I am wondering if I should do a clean install. I am going to give it a month and see school starts up end of august so I am not going to have many important files on this thing.

A clean install is not needed. I say, get CCleaner (or Everest if you have it), look and see at the startup items. I say remove all "quick launch", java update, system tray icons. Just leave, Alps Apoint trackpad (as you need it), sidebar (if you use it), Dell Control Point System Management. The rest you can remove.

Then go on the services and disable all you don't use, such as perhaps CardSpace, the 2 Smart Card service (if you don't use the smart card on the laptop), and so on...

Also, if you installed the driver applications, you can remove those too (just leave the drivers).

Your system must have now significantly less processes.
