    I would never put a sleeping computer into a bag. There have been too many cases of computers waking up and then overheating.

    Manual hibernation (I've changed the sleep button to hibernate) and then wait until all the lights go out.

    Yes, but I'd expect it to not do that! I've had 2 thermal trips on my e6500 - and I think both were because I put the laptop to "sleep" and then put it in my bag.

    The other issue I've experienced with the BIOS is if the notebook is in hibernate mode, and you've got fingerprint security enabled as I do, and there has been an attempt to wake the device remotely (say by Windows Server) to back it up, the notebook just freezes.

    There's been a few occassions where the fan is on full blast, nothing's warm, but the whole thing is just unresponsive. You have to hold down the power button for 4 secs and then do a cold reboot.

    P.S. This time the the notebook wasn't in the bag!
