    Hello Latitude E6500 owners....

Anyone with this WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD, do you notice darker spots on the bottom left and right corners of the screen? Specifically over the Start button and the clock. Make sure there is a lighter screen in the background to notice it more distinctly. This is my second Samsung screen with this issue. Does LG make a WUXGA LCD?

Also, have any of you had the rubber bumpers for the LCD on the palm rest come off. My left one came off and will not stay on. What happens is you tend to run your hand over it while typing, causing it to snap off. In order to get a new rubber piece, DELL needed to send me a whole new palm rest with speakers and fingerprint reader included to install.

So far I like this Notebook, however it should have went through more tests (drivers especially) before releasing it to the public.

Yep. Not the best quality screen. Though the resolution is crisp and colors are OK. No dead pixels either. The framing around the LCD on my E6500 is very flimsy and flexible also. Seems very poorly fitted.

    Thanks for your reply.

I am wondering if LG or another manufacturer supplies this WUXGA LCD for DELL. This isn't the first time I had to deal with bad LCD's with DELL. Why do they allow this kind of quality to get through testing? I noticed it the minute I started the notebook up. Doing boot up, the bottom portion of the screen is a redish purple tint. All my other LCD, including my MAC screen is all black.

I think it is just luck of the draw. Theres no way we can choose manufacturer of LCD. It is probably whatever is available at the time. A couple months from now they may switch to another brand with same specs. But it may be a different quality when compared side by side. I think there is a term for this in the LCD world called "panel lottery".

Yes. You are correct, it is luck of the draw. I have already tried to request another manufacturer and was told that it was impossible. Too bad, because this is not an inexpensive item. We should get the best quality for what we pay for. I will put another call into DELL about this so I have it on record. I just don't feel like opening up my machine again to install another LCD just to have it have the same issue or worse. Although I do need to install the new palm rest assembly. :(

Wow! These dark spots on the bottom left and right corners of the screen are driving me crazy. I keep looking at them. This is unacceptable. I will need to call DELL again and make sure they get me a different LCD manufacturer. I am planning on keeping this E6500 for a long time and shouldn't have to accept a screen with imperfections. Am I a little to picky? Mind you, this is now the 3rd Samsung WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD that had had this issue.

They are all going to be the same. I'm not sure how or even if there is another manufacturer at the moment. For what it's worth, it bothered me a lot too. But I got used to it. It feels like they have got a little more even with some use also... though that could be just because I am used to it.

When you start doing some work on your new computer and start getting things done you will forget :)

I hear ya! Good to know I am not the only one to notice. How long have you had your E6500?

    Thanks for the reply.

I was actually considering a ToughBook 52 to get the 15.4" WUXGA display -interesting to hear you guys are not consistently happy with these. (But I'd bet Panasonic's built-in-their-own-facility units have much better QC. Of course, you pay a lot for that...)

    Hello,

It's a great laptop, please don't get me wrong. It's just that I am frustrated with the LCD a bit. It seems like this happens alot with DELL no matter what LCD. Almost like they are getting a cheaper model LCD or something. I sure hope not. I should not have this many problems getting a perfect LCD. I had a Toshiba years back and the LCD was flawless.
Let me know how you like the Panasonic if you decide to get it. Thanks.
