Anyone else get constant crashes on EQu since going to iTunes Match?

In fact, anyone else use EQu?

Facebook acquires Instagram in $1 billion deal ? USATODAY.com

    Anyone else upset about this?

I started to actually use the app a couple weeks ago and really began to like it, but it may just get deleted if I see any muck-ups.

I personally don't really like FB and I think they might just blow this good app out the waters. (in a bad way)

IG may have just sold their souls....

So basically FB will buy everything that gives them any real competition.

Can we have a thread title alteration?

iTouch isn't a product. Makes me cringe exactly the same as when I hear someone refer to Android as Droid. Just say "iPod"... it covers the whole spectrum.

is it safe to put your gmail and windows live messenger passwords in Trillian?

the WLM app for iOS is probably the worst app ever created, and there's none for Googla Talk.

"Oh, is that a droid?" No. No its not. Droid is the name of a certain phone. Do you mean android, the operating system???

LOL. I don't do it to be elitist or snobby. It just makes me angry that all everything is, is marketing. Market something the right way and it's forever ingrained. I HATE THAT.

Verizon did it with "Droid".
Don't know who came up with iTouch. lol. Sounds like a bad pr0n joke.

On a related story to the iTouch thing, reminds me of this crazy person who made a fuss at xda because he "hated" the fact that there is a link at the top of XDA linking to the sister site of xda for iphone.

Some people, they have too much free time to worry about useless things...

LOL. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE how much people underestimated Apple in 2007. Look who's laughing now... RIM is self-destructing since they can't seem to modernize their smartphone lineup, Nokia as a whole took a dump, and Motorola almost failed had it not been for Android.

Had it not been for Android putting up competition, Apple would have completely owned the smartphone market by now. Just like they did with the iPod.

Nope. It's clear cut competition. The numbers say that 100%. But that's not an argument I want to get into again. I shouldn't have brought Android into the iOS thread... apologies. :)

It's competition... and while I'm not sure how much to put into this:

Google may use Motorola acquisition to emulate Apple's iPhone strategy

It would make sense for Google to start pushing for a real Pure Google Nexus phone where they control it like Apple controls the iPhone. It doesn't need to be a Moto-only made phone, they can use HTC and Sammy as they've done in the past, but they need to stick to supporting it as the flagship phone on *multiple* carriers (the Galaxy Nexus is only on VZW, will be hitting Sprint soon... but it should also be on AT&T and T-Mobile to be a true "flagship" Google phone). Right now, the only Android phone that does that multi-carrier thing is the Galaxy S II (and its good sales numbers shows that strategy could work).

my comment was tongue in cheek. i don't know why people get so precious over iPhones and Android phones. it's like a war and i don't even understand why.

that said, has anyone got the new iPad? how many apps are Retina Display ready yet? i really want to buy it but don't know if it's worth it as i already have the iPad 2.

I think if you have the iPad 2, you can wait until the new new iPad (iPad 4?).

Or maybe a mini-iPad if the rumors are correct.

The hi-def display is great... but not many things are updated to use it just yet (even Apple's own Safari browser is still reporting 1024 resolution).

I second this. For those without a iPad it's still a good investment. Another thing is iOS5 still isn't optimized for 1GB of RAM either, safari is capped at the 9 Tabs limit as it is on iPad 2 which is pretty stupid imo.

Anyone use anti glare/reflective screen protectors for iPad? I'm thinking about getting one for my iPad 2. It's watching movies that I get too much reflection on, even in low light. Weird thing is, I don't have this problem when streaming vids like YouTube, Netflix or TWC TV. It's just the movies I burn of a disc or download that I notice a lot of reflection. Could it be the contrast?

It's doing that on purpose (and will keep doing so).

If it didn't everything would be terribly small and unreadable. Look into the difference between CSS pixels and device pixels if you want technical details.

When I was at Best Buy checking out the latest iPad's one of the BB employees brought over his iPad 2 and it had an anti glare screen. I didn't want to say anything but it ruined the look of the screen. It was like looking through a pair of nylon stockings. The display had a terrible shimmering look to it. Even looking at the screen dead on was not as good as the crystal clear image you get without the anti-glare filter.

I tried an anti-glare filter on my Zune HD and it looked just as bad as it did on that iPad 2. The shimmering and distortion of the display and icons were hideous. Also I cut down on the brightness so I also had to turn up the brightness on the Zune HD. I took it off and never used another one.

    No, it's different.
Wi-fi calling/UMA allows you to make and receive calls from your proper mobile number via wi-fi networks.

Someone I know who has an iPhone is having problems with his coverage at his house and I'm trying to help him find a solution.

    Facebook integration....yukkk! :(

Once it's like the twitter app under settings that gives you the 'option' to install, I'm fine.

What I'm really looking forward to is the updated Siri. I believe Siri has a lot of potential; Missing potential as it is now I should say...so, looking forward to seeing the improvements.

Siri is definitely better than Google Now.

Beyond requesting directions while driving, however, I find voice assistants to be of marginal usefulness. I don't really use them for anything else, and I'm kind of indifferent about Siri being ported to the iPad.

I've always thought of Siri as a novelty and pretty useless. I remember a Sprint rep who demoed Siri asked it. Hey Siri where can I hide the body? It gave a list of several funeral parlors in the area. A couple of other questions gave pretty unpredictable results as well.

All the rumors point to Apple going to a smaller adapter and moving the headphone jack to the bottom on the next iPhone.

I don't get that... almost every phone I had, the headphone jack is on the top or side... what advantages does putting it on the bottom do other than when you lay it down on a desk, it doesn't have to wrap around from the top?

If you put it in charging stand, how do you use headphones?

I put my phone in a holster, so if I use headphones I have to put it in upside down?

Seems less functional on the bottom if you ask me.

Yeah not the best design IMO. I prefer the jack on top especially if you have the phone on a belt clip. A bluetooth headset would solve that.

If this makes it to the final product it will reaffirm my belief that we will see Apple run differently to what S.J. ran things. And that may not be a good thing.

That's something that's ALWAYS bothered me about the Nexus devices. They also have their headphone jacks on the bottom. I put my phone in my pocket when I listen to music sometimes. Headphone jacks on the bottom are horribly inconvenient.

Except that, under Jobs, Apple released a string of iPods with the headphone jack on the bottom.

It's just a headphone jack, the only significance of it's location is where you plug your headphones in.
