This is probaly related to the CPU. Which CPU do you have?

I can confirm that kit works with Ryzen 39xx. Which processor are you using? Also make sure you test each of the sticks individually to ensure one isn’t DOA.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but what the heck i said I'll ask and maybe someone else found a better solution for this.

I had the same issue here. I'm with the 3900 and the crucial 3200mhz had issues with it. I chose 2x16 modules but never made the stess tests. So now I'm equipped with a 2x16 Samsung 2666mhz cl19. No problems so far.

I thought of that, since I got it to work fine with one stick but I failed to really test one stick vs the other before sending the package back to NewEgg. It would have been good to know as then at least I could have tried the same model again.

Hi everybody. I could use some help.

I'm running into problems getting Windows onto my new Thicc-15.

I can get into UEFI OK, the 3950x is identified, NVME's detected, and my F4-3200C18D-32GRS RAM seems to be running 3200MHz out of the box which it should not be*, AFAIK they should boot at 2400 then run @ 3200 later using Ryzen Master*. No options in UEFI to change ANYTHING except boot devices and network stack. My USB is the only boot option. System start up proceeds without incident until it gets to the point the Windows installer should load, but instead it will stop accessing the install drive and boot loop for a couple of minutes before eventually crashing out with a " :( Your device ran into a problem" blue screen with always a different, seemingly random, stop code: ACPI.sys not present, kernel errors, GPF's, Page Fault in non-Paged Area, IRQL Less Than or Equal, and others. Many, but not all, memory related.

I've tried 2 different USB drives, and my old laptop can boot from them both. I've tried straight Windows Media Creation Tool and Rufus. I've tried GPT and MBR. I've tried Fat32, exFAT and NTFS. I've tried one RAM stick in one slot then the other. Same with NVME's, in/out/single/double/slot1/slot2 doesn't matter.

Given that other systems can boot and run Windows setup from my USB drives I am ruling out the install media and files. That leaves my BIOS version or a hardware issue, possibly RAM compatibility or bad CPU?

Is there a way to disable UEFI and get into a legacy bios?
As I said, I was expecting my RAM to boot at a lower speed (based on u/coreZair's experience with his Apex 15 and same RAM). I want to turn system timing down to 2133 or 2666 and eliminate my RAM @ 3200 as the potential problem but see no way to do so in UEFI. I also have a set of Kingston HyperX HX432S20IBK2/32 I was going to return that I could try, but that'll cost me a restocking fee if they don't work so I'd like to try the CSM/Legacy bios route first, if there is one. I have a couple different XMG bios files I could try instead as well.

Anyone have and thoughts or suggestions?

Edit: Booted right into Memtest86 on the same USB drive, first pass done no errors

    Laptop MEM test - Eluktronics Thicc-15 https://imgur.com/a/qdcXeVX

Edit: memtest still going, 4 hours, 2 passes 0 errors. Something must be borked between my UEFI and the Windows media format options I'm using..... https://imgur.com/a/3vnBI9s

Ok, so it's not the memory
    https://imgur.com/a/qdcXeVX

UEFI and windows install media not playing nice. I've tried every type of file format and partition type, now for a different UEFI?

unfortuantly there is no legacy bios option as the bios is purely uefi and is indeed locked down for the moment (no ram settings or cpu frequency options) and the vendors aren't giving out full uefi files that can be easily modified.

because its uefi you have to install windows to a gpt partition and not an mbr. this is generally done in most motherboards by insuring that you are in windows uefi mode and not other os uefi mode. said setting is probably in the boot order menu however I have not looked at it as of the time of writing.

on the side note of of not having the full uefi file for modifications. does anyone have anything more then the efi files? I have experience with finding and adding amd cbs/pbs tabs into desktop bios's and might be able to do so here if I have a full cap or rom file.

I believe that is a worthy cause and I would like to help if I can. I have only the most basic understanding of the process, but I will do what I can to get you what you need off of my machine. If you have any suggestions on methods or tools to use I'm all ears

    No, its just BS.
Lots of laptops have a x8 interface with the GPU and its not a problem, at all.
It can be a limitation if you are doing compute, not with games.

In a lot of compute situations, PCIe bandwidth is even less of a problem. A bitcoin mining motherboard might have a dozen or more x1 PCIe slots, each with a big GPU attached. Data is sent over to the GPU to process at the beginning of a task and the operation largely completes without help from any information needing to traverse the PCIe bus to the CPU.

    What a silly article.

Hi. I'm trying to get some help... and maybe I can offer some new info that isn't in the thread yet :)
I have a PC Specialist version with a 3900 in it. And my issue is that I can't get 2x32gb to work.

I'll try to sum things up as best as I can:
Ordered the laptop with the lowest ram option available, because the 3200/64GB wasn't on offer at PCS, so figured I'll just buy the memory myself.
Did my research before ordering everything, and saw that XMG and Clevo (and other vendors as well) offer the laptop with the 3200/64 option so figured it should be ok. Ordered the Samsung M471A4G43AB1-CWE (btw. they are Samsung A-dies if anyone was wondering) modules as I found on XMG's site that it is validated for them.
It looked like all is well after installing them, but it failed the 3dmark Timespy test (just locked up every time during the demo, at random times). It also failed to boot the OS a couple of times. I found that testing with a bootable passmark memtest resulted in a sudden restart every single time, or running prime locked up the system in a matter of seconds or minutes depending on the configuration I used (more on that in a moment).

I played around with it... Found that it works fine with only one memory module installed (either of the 2 I had, in either slot), confirmed with multiple passes with memtest and 1h+ runs of prime (also 3dmark passed but that is irrelevant at this point). Later I found that if I installed one of the 32GB modules and the 4GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 module that I got with it originally it was still working.

Changed EC and BIOS to the XMG one (the original one was the same version just different letters at the end and different boot logo) but I got the same result. On a sidenote I have to congratulate XMG for the tweaking they did in the bios. Not only that the different profiles are gapped/configured with more sense, but the Performance mode in the original bios was actually worse than the Entertainment mode and with the XMG bios it got a huge boost.
There is also a new BIOS version (1.07.05) available directly from Clevo ( https://my.hidrive.com/share/yze8mg...re/CLEVO/N_Series/NHxxx/NHxxAxx/NH5xACxAFxADx). That one did not help either :(
I'll be sticking to the XMG bios because the Clevo one was behaving in the same manner as my original one. Tom if you are reading this... maybe you guys could release the updated version with your tweaks :)

Started to tweak memory settings from Ryzen Master.
<<I found some strange behaviour there! RM writes all the settings to the OC section of a "normal bios" and it is a persistent change! in order to get rid of any modification (setting it back to auto from RM does not help, clearing the bios doesn't help either) the BIOS needs to be re-flashed. >>
Conclusion after some days of frustration: the Samsung memory modules when installed in pair were not stable even at 2400Mhz with super relaxed timings.

I called up the shop, and they were kind enough to offer an exchange to a 3200/32x2 Hynix (HMAA4GS6AJR8N-XN) so I could try them out. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the exact same behaviour as with the Samsung ones.

Did anyone get a 2x32GB 3200Mhz kit to work? With what CPU? Could it be that the 3900 can't handle it? Maybe I have a defective CPU?
I'm really out of ideas at this point... I'm about to send these back and think that it simply isn't possible to get 64 gig's working in this thing, although it is possible to order it with that configuration from other vendors. So are they binning the machines in some way? or maybe I'm just unlucky?

Also, another odd thing that I discovered during my testing is that the m.2 SSD (970 EVO plus) is way slower in the lower slot than in the upper one (above the Wi-FI card). I can confirm that with benchmark result as well. No idea why it happens, but I have seen on a youtube review that the first slot runs at GEN 2 speeds instead of GEN 3 if I recall correctly.
So I would advise you to move your NVMe drives to that slot to get the most performance out of your drive :)

Thanks for the reply. I suspect that the 3900 should be able to handle it as well. Still, if someone has this combo a quick confirmation would help so i know there is no limitation from the non X CPU.
I'm "looking forwards" to a nice long wait on the PC Specialist support line

Oh... and the title of the thread should be extended to NH50A/NH55A/NH57A/NH58A (since they are basically the same laptop) so people can find this with more ease :D

The 3900 non X cpu does not support 2 sticks of 3200Mhz RAM as far as I know. No issues with for instance the 3700X.

I'm curious on how you make out with this. I did the same thing as you. I ordered my laptop and the ram separately because I wanted 64GB 3200mhz ram with a decent CAS. Looking through other posts in this forum other's have had issues with 64GB too.

I'll post back later on with my progress. For now, I seem to be over the first phase with the "did you clear the CMOS after you installed the memory" type of questions. Maybe they have someone who knows more. I could end up returning the unit they can't offer any assistance, I don't know yet.

It wasn't even for the latency. I ordered it this way because 64/3200 wasn't an option from PC Specialist, so I figured I'll just throw 64GB in after I get the laptop since it looked like it should a "plug it in and it works" upgrade.

I wonder did anyone get the Hyperx 3200Mhz CL20 memory in any capacity to work in these? They supposed to have the profile for CL20 at 1.2V in their JEDEC table.

Hi there, could you elaborate a little more on that. I have the a Sager NP7958F1 that is a Clevo NH58AF1. I was wondering if you could tell me the steps you took to flash everything and what model number you have exactly, because I'm trying to the same thing just trying to be a extra cautious. I am trying to tame the 3900X I have in this thing and just trying to get the best bang out of this machine. Thanks!

Nothing special really... just the usual BIOS flashing stuff (do not power it off, have the battery charged up and connected, wait for the process to finish all the way... and you do it your own risk :p)
The two versions that I found online are the 1.07.04 and 1.07.05. First one available from XMG (my laptop came with the same version, I have a NH55AFW), second from Clevo's support site, but for convenience reasons I provided the link in my earlier post. The bios file is compatible for all models, Clevo specifies it as NF5x0AFx/NF5x0ADx/NF5x0ACx (it reads as follows NF5 0/5/7/8(Chasis id number)A(AMD platform)F/D/C(GPU model)x(some other config that I didn't yet figure out))
For flashing just run the executable from windows (have all other apps closed while you do this, just as a precaution) the program finishes, your laptop restarts, the flashing begins, and when it completes the laptop should shut down by itself (for me sometimes just sat there aster it said that all was verified and completed... so I waited like 1-2 minutes just to be sure that there is nothing left to do and then I powered it down by long-pressing the button). The first start after the BIOS flash will be considerably slower to the post screen, so just wait for it :)
XMG has an EC file as well, maybe someone a bit more knowledgable can say what that does. I have no idea honestly. I had the same version on mine, the XMG one had some letters attached at the end. I changed that to if you want to flash the EC file make sure that you do it before a BIOS flash (it seems like that is the way they recommend it, I did it doth way didn't see any difference ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).
Benchmarks on Performance mode with my original BIOS didn't impress me at all, in some cases, they were worse that Entertainment mode. With the XMG EC (don't know if it's needed) and BIOS in place my Performance mode scores jumped quite significantly. Also, the Quiet profile "became" the Power Saving profile (that originally was useless anyway) and the Quiet profile became a new profile in-between the old Quiet and Entertainment (this new one seems to be the sweet spot for me when I don't do any heavy work)

If other retailers provide a BIOS file maybe you guys could share, so we have multiple options.

Oh... btw the BIOS files change your boot screen logo. XMG -just has XMG on the screen, Clevo has two circles and reads Style note. My original one had the PC Specialist logo.

    Great :)
At least we'll know if that seems to be compatible. That is my fallback option if all else fails.
Try to run a Prime95 blend (not the small/large FFT) test on it. That is the one that fails me most often after like 10-20 minutes. I can accelerate the appearance of the issue by playing a youtube video in the background (it crashes a bit faster if I have something running in the background).

I just got a 64GB corsair Vengeance 2666 kit from PCS to try out because that was the one validated by them, and it still fails the test. So for now, I'll be returning the laptop to them for "investigation"... God knows how long will that take. They said that it can take up to 4 weeks

Could be a bad chip I suppose? It's rare but it could happen or maybe a bad trace impacting integrity.

I am seriously interested in getting a laptop with a AMD 3950x CPU for the sheer number of cores, but I can't seem to find one with a 4k screen. Am I wrong? If so, please direct me to where! If not, please help me understand why.

Due to it's positioning the 1080p panel was the one that has been gone with.

    Update:
Installed the HyperX kit and everything booted without a hitch. According to hwinfo it is running at the full 3200 cl20 jedec profile that Kingston advertises. Went ahead and ran the Prime95 blend for 20 mins while watching a YT vid with no crashing.

I've ordered a Clevo NH58AC with Ryzen 9 3900 CPU, 1660Ti with 6GB, 32GB 3200MHz RAM, 1TB Crucial M2 SSD and this is the closest match I can find so guess I belong here. I ordered July 9th, was notified that parts are in and being assembled and tested, should ship next week. I'm using a Clevo P650HP6-G right now, but the processor is just too limited to do the work I have ahead of me for my final semester of computer information systems before graduating in December. When I bought this laptop I had planned for it to be useful a bit longer, it has several storage and RAM slots open but the real issue that I just didn't see 4 or 5 years ago was processing power.

That's why I chose this laptop, the Ryzen 9 3900 is scoring over 30,000 on the same cpu benchmarks that my processor scores in the 6,000s. The B450 motherboard should take a next gen processor as well, if they make one to run at 65W then it just might work. Even if not, the 3900 should still be relatively good for a laptop processor for much longer than the i7-7700HQ in this old computer. I'm going to give this one to my son and use his really limited ancient HP touchscreen as a Linux based security and forensics machine, there's a security and forensics based distro of Arch Linux that I've wanted to give a try.

I like Linux just about the same amount that I dislike Windows, but at least until I finish these classes in December I have to use Windows to run programs like Tableau, which aren't available on Linux. I just don't have time to reinvent the wheel and with things the way they are I doubt I can rely on having access to computer labs on campus - so I sucked it up and paid for the computer I wanted to buy anyway, but couldn't really afford until I graduate and get a freaking job lmao.

I'm trying to balance excitement with annoyance, excited to have a laptop so good relative to anything I've ever used and annoyance at the process taking twice as long as any orders before. I assume this is due to the situation with virus awareness and it's impact, but it still annoys me to be waiting.

    I ordered the NH58AC with 1x32GB HyperX 3200 CL20.

On the Clevo software download site at https://my.hidrive.com/share/yze8mg...re/CLEVO/N_Series/NHxxx/NHxxAxx/NH5xACxAFxADx they provide the same BIOS file for my model and yours so it seems like they would be the same in this situation.

Having said that, I haven't got the computer yet, it's still with the company being assembled and tested at this time, so it's possible that they could have an issue with it though I feel it's unlikely. I'll let you know as soon as I find out anything more, the company I ordered from is one I've worked with before several times and always with good results. They keep communication going and I remember once before when they messaged me with an issue they found during testing a few years ago, and though I can't remember exactly what the issue was everything worked out as planned in the end.

If our positions were reversed, I would wait at least for the company to confirm that testing was completed before spending something like $130 each for 32GB RAM pieces. This company has never told me anything that didn't turn out to be right, so I trust them when they tell me it's good to go, for what that's worth. I'll keep this in mind and post a reply whenever I do hear from them, probably early next week.

I just took delivery of the 3950x /2070 from Aftershock (the Clevo distributor in Singapore). The bios is garbage (stock clevo?) - but hopefully I'll be able to get a patch down the line.

While I will sometimes use the full might of 16 cores (massive compile tasks), the rest of the time is spent trying to cage the beast. The posts here were pretty useful, and I have been experimenting with Ryzen Master/Zenstates in an effort to achieve optimal performance with minimal noise while the laptop is on my lap (sad goal, but there it is). Room temperature here is around 27C, adding to the challenge of lap-laptopping.

The sad truth is that I won't be playing the witcher in full detail anytime soon without the fans howling like banshees, but I have at least gotten the idle performance to a place where I am happy with it, while still keeping surface temperatures comfortable and the fans as near inaudible as possible.

Below is a detailing of the steps I took, based on the things I've seen here (thanks guys!)

0.) Used the windows registry trick to disable PBO. I suspect there are more gains to be made here by changing the percentages to park the cores more aggressively. Also used park cores and set all the settings to 0%.

1.) I started with Fan Control (a lifesaver; hopefully Aftershock can provide me a better BIOS) and set the noise as low as possible, as noise and temperature are the two things I couldn't compromise on. With the settings:
    0-58: 0
    59-62:20
    63:66:40
    67:70:60
More work needs to be done; whining is audible when the fan *changes* speeds past the 60 treshold. I'll be playing with the load based offset and ramping settings going forward

2.) In Ryzen Master, after some trial and error. I switched to CCD 1 (which drops me to a measly 8 cores). I created two profiles (low/ultra-low) as follows, with lap-laptopping results in brackets. (idle/cinebench20 temp/score). I put the laptop flat on my lap for these tests, in a room at 27C.

    3.5Ghz/0.90V (65/72/4000)
    2.7Ghz/0.85V (63/70/2950)

60 fan (the maximum I would tolerate on quiet) at 70 wasn't quite enough for the 3.5Ghz under heavy load, which settled at 72 degrees (still tolerable, but unpleasant). I won't be ramping up that much when i

3.) Further things I will be trying:
    - CCD1 vs CCD2 and manually disabling cores
    - Further voltage gains? I think I'm pretty close to the stable point though; and im not seeing any major temperature gains here
    - lowering the voltage controls for the memory (VDDCR SOC/CLDO VDDP/CLDO VDDG). Are there any other ways to lower SOC power draw?
    - more playing with the fan curve/parking settings
    - software options to control the PPT (ZenStates? It will be interesting to see if that helps me get resting temps even lower)
    - lower the clock *even* further in a quest for colder temperatures.

    - Ubuntu counterparts. I won't be lap-laptopping with Ubuntu, but knowing what tools are available and how to use them will be nice to have, since this thing howling at max is insane.

I'm not sure what this means, "due to its positioning". Other than that, I was speaking in general. I originally posted this as its own thread but some mod moved it here for some reason. I'm asking if anybody knows of any laptop that has this chip and also a 4K monitor. Any laptop at all.
