This is probably a really stupid question, but how do you detach the ribbons? The main ribbon seems to have two silver latches, but I'm not sure which way to pull on them.
And I'm just completely clueless on the smaller one, as I don't even see any latches on that one.
EDIT: Figured it out myself -- you have to pull out on the black things on the ports.
Took me a good 2 hours to sand it with 80 grit and finishing it off with 240 and 400.
Feels much better to type with, and no more annoying spacebar problem!

Hhahah congrats  you learn something new everytime you open your laptop!

i have msi SS keyboard on my 150EM now. it's very nice! (for me
).
Now, i try to change all touch FN+(x) which have specific action (wireless, sound, bluetooth etc...), but i do not find the codes FN + (x) to change them later with software. (ex: FN+F5 is "E1XA7". It's false, but its for example).
People have found all FN+(x) codes? -
What application are you using to change keys?
-
Maybe one of the programs on this page?
remap-keyboard-free-tools-windows -
same problem but with stock keyboard. my (+) sign really does not work well at all it takes me several presses to get a plus sign out of it or to increase keyboard ligth, total bummer
-
For change my FN+(x) code, i tryed all programms wich are on the first page, yes. But Several FN+(x) functions no have code (for the software).
I i don"t know how find all FN+(x) code if their programms don"t find for me :/ -
Are there any resellers who sell these keyboards?
Edit: I found this reseller. Is this one here compatible with the NP9150
MSI Genuine SteelSeries Full Color Backlight Notebook Keyboard S1N-3EUS271-SA0 -
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is the one.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to show some pictures of the keyboard I bought from Mythlogic and installed myself on my NP9150. They did an excellent work and their support was amazing when I asked a lot of questions before buying it.
For those getting the keyboard, I recommend taking the metal bed from the stock keyboard and placing it under the Steel Series one.

That looks hella sexy!! I can't afford mythlogic but that looks amazing sir! How does it feel typing on it?
-
It is so much better. I was expecting it to be close to my Macbook Pro, but it actually feels better.

Those pics are great! I know its not the subject but which lens did you use the bokeh is awesome. -

Slightly off topic, but is there a way to get the steel series keyboard to work on the p151em? I vaguely remember that some people got the back lit keyboards to work on the p151, but maybe I'm just remembering things that never happened.
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Ah its the 1.8 doing it, nice
Theres not, it doesnt have the right port for the backlighting. -
Do all fn buttons work as expected?

Temmmpppptting!!! Looks amazing man well done. Any issues placing the stock metal bed under the Steel Series kb? (also assuming you removed the metal bed from the Steel Series)
-
That does look sharp! Good photos too
If only the p150hm supported a backlit keyboard. One thing missing is that. It's tough to type in darklit room complete dark sometimes.

Holy.. those photos are classy man.
I believe the Steelseries should come standard in the next clevo refresh. <- Opinion not speculation or fact. -
I agree! Damn it looks awesome
-
I have just ordered a steeseries keyboard but cannot fit into my P170EM. Can you tell me which part I have to cut/make modification?
Thanks in advance! -
Caden, would you mind teaching me how to take the metal backplate on the stock keyboard off and place it underneath the SS keyboard?
Many thanks! -
Hi, I started using my laptop a few days ago (I'm not sure which version it is but it's sold as this: PCSPECIALIST - VortexIII 17 Laptops, VortexIII 17 Gaming Laptops, Build Your Own VortexIII 17 Laptop ) and I've noticed really annoying ghosting issues with it as well. In a game where W/S is forward/backward and Q/E is strafe, I can't jump forwards-right diagonally! The spacebar works in every other direction except for that. After doing some more tests it looks like the E and spacebar have conflicts with each other.
Could someone please confirm whether or not this steelseries keyboard has this problem? I keep seeing conflicting opinions in this thread and I'm not sure who is correct. -

They wont fit without a little modification. Best thing to do is to also remove the stock keyboard, put the stock over the SS and you'll see what needs to be modified. Line the up by the screw holes so you know it will fit properly.
-
Does the optional steelseries keyboard still have ghosting issues?
-
What a delicious keyboard that SS is... I just mounted it and LOVE IT!
The Fn mapping is a real pain though...
If anyone gets his keys remapped properly with *any* program, please say which program that is and preferably share your remapping profile. -
^^^^^^ That is just so wrong! I mean, I've heard of loving your tech but...

Steelseries has stated that they are working on developing a key mapping software program for their keyboards that is slated for delivery sometime before the new year. We won't know if it'll be compatible with Sager systems until the program is actually available. We'll try to keep everyone updated on this. -
please respond
-
Remember that on laptops there is no keyboard controller on the keyboard like there are on external keyboards, so any ghosting issues on a laptop will be on EVERY keyboard that comes on the laptop, so for these that would be the stock, the different languages, and the steelseries as its the motherboard that controls what keys you can push at once.

Just as a heads up, This site appears to be selling the chiclet-style keyboard for $75, but that is not the case.
I purchased the keyboard listed on that page, noting that the image provided on that page ( This one) looked remarkably similar to the SteelSeries chiclet-style one that you have displayed in this thread. They sent me the standard non-chiclet-style p150em keyboard instead. I'm not sure if it was a mistake (I just sent in a customer support ticket), but yeah. I'll be returning it...
-
I would whole heartedly recommend an external keyboard over the internal Laptop Keyboard, the steelseries is a nice upgrade, but nothing beats a good external keyboard with NKRO and mechanical switches, it's like fingertip heaven, haha.

Yes but these are portable machines or for use in a noise sensitive or space restricted area, all cases in which a mechanical keyboard are not ideal.
-
Hello everyone!
will this keyboard fit on a P370EM?
Also, what is the price of it, and where can i find it to buy? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The 9170 and 9370 actually use the same keyboard. What works in the 9170 will work in the 9370. Unfortunately the supply has all but dried up on the steelseries for the most part due to manufacturer request to stop offering it on unlicensed units, but first place to look would be your reseller. -
any update on the driver yet?
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
We haven't noticed anything get dropped from Steelseries yet. -
I hadn't either. I'm making do for now lol. The much better feeling keyboard is totally worth it. Random strangers like my keyboard now lol

I know, the msi barebones are now coming with a blue only steelseries keyboard, the key action is the same and it's just a different world from the bog standard clevo one. I can see why MSI want to keep that edge.
-
anyone have an updated link or site to where I can buy this asap. I did find the site listed at about page 11, but I wanted to make sure that was the one I needed for the 170EM. So if anyone has bought one recently, pls tell me where.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
No matter where you buy it, it does require some modification to have it fit correctly. Typically done by dremeling it to fit. Not the most elegant solution but it works. As for availability, the market has all but pretty much dried out due to Steelseries requesting this to be no longer offered. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I see a couple on ebay which may be right but worth checking with the reseller.
-
I have a P170HM and read here it doesnt support the SS keyboard.
Can someone explain to me why? Is it barebone limitation(phisical) or hardware? What limitation?
Also, which backlit keyboard is supported by my P170HM?
If any, what would you guys suggest me to do? I'm very happy with my notebook but sick of trying to type in the dark. haha.
Thanks. -
It doesn't fit for two reasons, one, there is no connector for the backlit part so it would never light, and two its physically a different size then the non-backlit keyboard. There aren't any backlit keyboards that would fit in the HM chassis, so your best bet would be something like the little glow in the dark stickers if thats a route you can stand.
-
Sad :/
Does any reseller accept upgrading a P170HM to P170EM?
Last resort.
-
Now that you mention it XD I remember some resellers as mythlogic (above) actually offered it once the P150EM just released
-

You can always try posting it in the for sale section of NBR as well as reseller forums if they have them on their site. I know there were quite a few people still looking for the older models not too long ago.
