Bro it all depends on how you pay, if you get a custom deign or not, and shipping time. For example, I paid via wire transfer and it took 2 days before Xoticpc got the money and verified that my payment was received. Then it took about 3 days to build my laptop, and then finally it was shipped it out on the 6th "business day." i ordered my laptop on July 29th i think, and it was shipped out on August 6th.Since i took the normal 3-6 days shipping, I should be receiving my lappy on either the 11th or 12th of August.

So i guess if you pay via wire transfer or credit card it should take about 10-12 business days (or 2 weeks)for your computer to arrive to your doorstep, or longer if you choose to pay by check or some other method. hope this helps

I'm just disappointed in how the NP2096 looks. It would be so much better if they added a little aesthetics to it and a clicking lock thing for when you close the laptop.

If I had to choose between going from the 2.4ghz P8600 processor to the 2.53ghz processor (not sure if it'd be T9400 or P9500) or from the 320gb 5400rpm hd to a 320gb 7200rpm hd, which would be the better choice? The comp would be used for college and gaming.

Also is it worth upgrading to a 2.53ghz processor if it's the T9400 instead of the P9500 or will that cause too much heat?

    Thanks!

Are there any discounts available for the NP2096 or NP7680? I'm looking for a notebook for my sister. These notebooks look great.

You won't notice that much of a difference between 2.4ghz and 2.53ghz in real world uses such as gaming. There might be a 3Dmark difference, but you won't notice it when using the computer. As for the heat, I don't think you have to worry about it that much either. A 7200RPM HD would reduce the loading time for games and stuff compared to a 5400RPM hd.

since i have the RAM (4GB OCZ), HDD (320GB) and CPU (T8300 - yes 800 FSB works on montevina already checked) and i dont need a warranty because i am taking the laptop overseas. is it better for me to get the barebone of this system and put everything together myself? or is it always better to go with them making the system for me?

P.S. I have posted this in a thread but got no replies so asking ppl here

I think the best way to reduce the price is to purchase the machines from a reseller like XoticPC.com or Powernotebooks.com. They have student and cash discounts available. Also, you can buy it without a preinstalled OS, and just install your own OS later. (Windows can be extremely cheap if bought through a University and such.)

Well, purchasing a pre-built machine from a company is a near-guarantee that all the parts work together properly. On the other hand, building it yourself will be a fun learning experience, and there's always that thrill of accomplishment when you first boot it up and it works! :D Although, admittedly, there is a measurable amount of risk involved.

I actually just got an e-mail from xoticpc about that. Apparently on top of the 3% cash discount, they have another 2% student discount if you plug in a specific word (can't remember which). Not much, but it'll save you around 20 dollars :/

    @ Elite Cataphract
Instead of shouting here, why not contact some vendors to see what their cash discount might be???

I think you will find that there is no student discount available on the Sager NP2096. It is only on the Sager NP5796, NP8660, and NP9262, plus the private label brands.

    Hi Elite ...

I checked "XoticPC" & "Power Notebook" websites ... they have Student Discount but they DON'T spell it out ... not like the 3% cash discount.

The only thing I found was on XOTIC site and it said E-Mail the Slaes office and they will tell you ... BTW, they are very Responsive ... send your e-mail today and I bet you get an answer tomorrow before Noon.

Also ... read the following Post #29

    Hope this helps!

So the discounts only apply to the most expensive notebooks? The NP2096, NP7680 and the NP7220 is not included? Or do the discounts vary?

Some of us here are on a very tight budget as students you know. ;)

    ^--^
    That is correct.

The NP2096, NP7680 and NP7220 are also on VERY tight budgets and there is just no room to discount them...I am very sorry :nah:

I'v gotten 4 hours with power saver and wifi off and on every once in awhile. I also have some benchmarks with 3DMark06, PCMark Vantage, and hdtune. The 3d and pc mark were the trial versions.

I am having an issue with the keyboard when I am typing. I will type for a little bit and the curser jumps back to a previous spot and starts at that point. It is very, very annoying.

    I like the laptop.
    Pros:
    1. The laptop stays pretty cool at all times.
    2. I tried to play crysis on high settings and it was actually not that bad. It
    was actually playable.
    3. The system boots up from a cold start in one minute exactly.
    4. The screen quality is pretty good. I think it is awesome but I'm used an old monitor. Can't compare to Sony because I'm not familiar with the screens on updated laptops
    5. System performance has been great in performing tasks.
    6. The viewing angles are pretty good in my opinion
    7. Battery Life is very good.(9Cell)

    Cons:
    1. The keyboard has flex on the left side
    2. I am not fond of where the directional arrows are on the keyboard.(Too Skinny)
    3. Would rather have Fn and Ctrl key switched around. (personal preference)
    4. Lid is fingerprint magnet.

Can you take a look at your GPU temps while gaming, I have a DV5T and may return it if the NP2096 is cooler.

hello there all, I'm trying to get my dad a new laptop. He needs it for work, but he wants it for personal use as well. The main issue is the fact he wants a laptop that plays Blu-Ray yet has Windows XP installed. He wanted to get a Dell, but Dell doesn't offer Blu-Ray on Windows XP systems. My dad said his office is trying to work with Dell to possibly get Blu-Ray on an XP machine. But if it's not possible, do you reccomend this system for work purposes? I don't think he really cares about the looks of a laptop becasue this is for work, and he's had ugly laptops in the past. The main reason I"m looking at this laptop is the fact you really do get more bang for your buck and they offer Windows XP with Blu-Ray. We've never owned a Sager, but I've heard great things, and I may possibly get one for my school for next year. Also, does the battery stick out? If you order the system with blu-ray, does it come with a movie playing software? I'm just trying ot get my dad the best system possible. We were also looking at HP, and they stilll offer the pre-Santa Rosa processors which I forget the codename they're so darn old (T7500/T7700)! Do you know if any resellers (preferablly PowerNotebooks) offer business discounts? Thanks :)

Battery life was my only concern when I was buying this laptop so now I have nothing to complain about :p

Yeah that battery life is sick. On the xotic site, it said that it would get like 2-3 hours, so I was expecting with powersaving on, wifi off, etc. it would get at most 3 hours.
