    - ~Intel® P9500 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.53GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 25 watt
    - ~ 4,096MB DDR2 800 (2 SODIMMS)
    - 4GB Intel® Robson Turbo Memory II
    - ~ 320GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 8MB Cache)

well i ordered mine from RJtech not the best warranty but i just needed the whitebook and they had a great price on it and the CPU mine should be arriving tomm. will let you know how that goes. it took them 2 days to get it out without having to put everything together but if they put it tgether for you i think it should take 4 days or so they usually take the most 5 days

I ordered mine from XoticPC on the 19th, and according to the email I recieved confirming my credit card was accepted "There is currently a slight delay on this model. The build time for your order is approximately 5-10 business days." So yeah, about 2 weeks.

Ok, so here is the current status, and a little history of previous issues.

    1. Within two weeks of when this model was first released there were several hundred orders placed, and Sager has been working as fast as they can to get them built and shipped, however

    2. Compal did not deliver anywhere near enough Bluetooth modules or DVDR brackets...so they delivered hundreds of shells but only so many of them could be built.

    3. The Bluetooth modules and DVDR brackets were finally delivered and orders were filled in the order they were received...but orders kept flooding in (it's no wonder...eh?) so last week they ran out of the WSXGA+ screens.

    4. The WSXGA+ screens are due in by tomorrow (maybe today) so shipping will resume either Wednesday or Thursday.

    5. There are a lot of orders at this time of year, so it is taking a few extra days to get them built and shipped.

    6. Therefore, any orders placed today might ship by the end of this week or early next week at the latest. However don't forget Monday is a Holiday, so plan for that when deciding on what shipping method you need.

As pandabear1011 suggests, the alternatives are the Force 3310 from Xoticpc, or the PowerPro P 12:15 from PowerNotebooks.com because they are in stock, ready to build and ship, and if you contact Xoticpc or PowerNotebooks you may qualify for a free upgrade to 2nd Day Air shipping, plus you will get the better warranty, support, and memory upgrades.

Just got mine an hour ago. :)

I put the battery in and put it on charge....anyone knows how long I should charge it, before turning it on?

Also, I ordered with Windows Vista...is it already installed or am I going to have to do it myself?

You can boot it up right now, and then just let it continue charging.

Yes, if you ordered VISTA it will be installed.

Hi guys, been reading the whole topic and didn't see any report on the HDMI port. I plan to connect the notebook to a Bravia 37" HDTV to watch some movies, would like to know how the sound and image behave in this situation.

Also, is it possible to connect a 3.5mm to toslink adapter like the one below and, thru a toslink cable, connect the notebook to a home theater?

Just one more thing, what's the version of the ALPS driver that allows cancelling the tap to click option and activates the scrolling function?

I ordered mine from a Brazilian reseller, it's the same Sager NP2096 with P8600 CPU and 4GB DDR2, should be arriving by the end of this week.

    Thx in advance.

i am not 100% on your home speaker connector thing but as for the hdmi out, it should look just as good as if you hooked up a fancy HD dvd/blueray player up to your tv. the sound might only be 2.1 from eh sager np2096 *only because it dose not have the other jacks for surround sound* but i always thought that hdmi not only had the video but also the sound so that might not even be a problem for you =D

I know HDMI has both the audio and video signals. My doubt is if i can hook it to a home theater via the headphone jack using the adapter. The Sager website says it has s/pdif, looking around the notebook there's no s/pdif out, so it should be located on the headphone jack, thus the need to use that adapter I showed above, to transform the 3.5mm headphone jack to a s/pdif jack.

I've contacted the tech support of the brazilian reseller and they told me it has optical out, but I would need that adapter to be able to connect the nb to a toslink cable. I just wanted to be sure, nothing better than asking to people that already have the nb, heheheeh.

    Anyway, thx for your help.

    Hi guys,

I just have a quick "newbie" question about the wireless lan driver. I had a fair amount of trouble getting that driver to work, so I just want to confirm. Under the device manager, under network adapters does everyone else have just 2 things? Intel(R) Wireless Wifi Link5100 and Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC

Those are the two listed, should I have everything else, or have I finally got the right stuff?

    Thanks :)

ALso, does anyone know what the brand of HDD that Xotic is currently selling on this laptop? I'm trying to decide between 200 GB 7200rpm or 320 GB 5400rpm. I dont care about the cost, but i must know the brand to see if its worth it.

Guess I didn't make myself very clear, sorry.

First of all, I know that HDMI is purely digital. My question about the optical audio out has nothing to do with the HDMI.

The question is if the sager np2096 has optical output (S/Pdif) thru the headphone jack.

It's $110 USD if you order from Xotic with no brokerage fees (choose the express).

GST/PST is however much it is in your province. You'll have to pay the taxes on receiving your laptop from UPS.

I've been looking online to find a company that sells keyboard condoms for the 2096. Only one company even had a Sager cover, and it was for an old model. Has anyone else found a reliable source for covers that sells ones for the 2096?

Don't know which brand is, but I would choose the 7200RPM one for sure. It should be Samsung, Hitachi, Seagate or WD.

Guys, any idea on my question??

charching the battery now, how do you know when it is full? And then I should run the battery down until the computer shuts down by it self before charching again right?

I've read you have to wait 'till it has around 1% and then recharge it. Also, if you plan on using the NB direct to the wall outlet, make a full charge, use it 'till it reaches around 40% and then store it.
