    @Donald@HIDevolution
    I don't know how to update my specs sorry.

    Mine has the i78700k and 1080 SLI.
    It's not overclocked at all and I only game with it. I've never seen the need to overclock for my useage.

    I played 2 hours of division this morning and saw max temps of 78c on my gpus with auto fan. I'm really happy with them.

    My cpu always sits lower than that. I my of been lucky with my chip as I ran some test for another member on here and he said I must of been lucky as it held almost boost clocks on all cores through a 10 min aida 64 test and saw max temps of 68. That was with a 100mv undervolt which I've removed since having to re install win 10.

    Hope this helps.

    You don't know how to update your specs? [IMG]

    1) How your mouse cursor over your username on the top right of this page

    2) you will now see a drop down menu magically appear from your username

    3) In one of those pop-out entries, you will see signature, it's the 2nd item from the list that pops out

    4) click on it

    5) fill your signature with your laptop model and specs just like you see in every one's signature [IMG]

    That is essential when you are asking for help or claiming to someone that your temps are X when we don't know what laptop you have or clock speeds or usage scenarios

    I also want to thank @Donald@HIDevolution for all his very detailed and honest advice and help.

    I got my machine yesterday, and managed to build it after 10 hours of work, not installing windows.

    Totally recommend working with HID if you need people who can point you in the right direction :)

    I didn't really order from HID this time because I had an entirely different need, but Donald's advice really helped me make my choice and build the PC of my dreams!

    I'm using the phone, it works slightly diffeent from the full site I'd guess as I have had a sniff around to find the Sig bit but couldnt.

    Not sure what that has to do with my temps though.

    ohh from a phone you won't be able to see signatures? you only browse the forum from the phone dude? o_O

    The signature has nothing to do with your temps. What I am saying is, when you post something like "my temps are 85C under load" if you had a signature that shows your system specifications and how much your CPU is clocked at, say for example 8700K @ 4.7 GHz, then people can relate to those temps and know what clock speeds you're running when you said your temps were X under load or whatnot.

    I hadly have internet where I work so I always use my phone but don't worry I had a little look around and have found it, you can change it on your phone too.

    I will only answer or at least throw my 2 pence in if I have similar specs as I already answered Donald as to my specs in the post you commented on.

    I'm no wizard and don't pretend to be, I'm only sharing my temps and experience with the same model is all.

    Just to reiterate my cpu & gpu are stock with IC diamond paste.

    I am glad to see you figured it out.

    The point is, if you put your specs in the body of a post, that is the only time it appears, but when in your signature they appear every time you post. That is why most members here put them in their signature.

    One minor correction I would point out is, since you have Dual nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080s in SLi, then you have the P870TM 1. The P870TM comes with one or two nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070.

    Bottom line is, you are getting good temps, but you are not overclocked, and just reporting gaming temps, not stress tests. In a way, this is a good thing because too many people, including reviewers, do extreme stress tests, and freak out when running Prime95 + Furmark at the same time, which should never be done, instead of just playing their games and reporting real world temps from actual usage.

    All I care about is real world as I don't spend my free time benchmarking to see what it can take.

    In stress tests it did ramp up to mid 80c on the gpu and cpu bench tests before undervolt did throttle to 90c, but these are not the temps I based buying the laptop from.

    Thaks for the heads up I will change my sig :)

    What does it mean when a CPU 8700K is OCd to 4.8 GHz, but it drops to 4.4GHz during wprime, even though the temps are well bellow 80C?

    Voltage is adaptive -100mV, and cooling keeps up with the clocks, it doesn't seem to drop in other apps besides wprime (?)

    this fit?

    i bought a few 12v fan, take a look at the p870tm 2nd cpu fan port thread, there has been progress. gonna do splitter and have computer control the fan instead.

    Yep yep. That's what I've got to do next is the splitter. But, I have figured out how to get either the fans, or the Heatsinks you see here inside and sitting on top of the CPU sink.

    whats the dimension of your fan? and that heatsink add more capacity is nice.

    also, i wouldnt recommend doing a splitter off 12v and have a 5v fan running off of it. 5v fan will probably burn. probably need a 12v fan to do a splitter off 12v rail from primary cpu pin.

    The one good thing about Prime95 is, it is VERY good at testing heatsink and thermal paste quality. It's a great test of the cooling system.
    Provided that you DISABLE AVX and FMA3 support so it is no longer a power virus. It actually is a pretty reasonable tester if AVX and FMA3 are disabled.
    I know I'm going to get some hate for this, but the strongest point of prime95 is the core load balance testing. It loads all the cores evenly and directly, so if there is a problem with your paste application, imbalanced heatsink pressure on cores, or warped heatsink, you will be finding out very quickly.

    Even the author of Throttlestop likes prime95 for that reason.
    Just don't enable AVX.

    CPUSupportsAVX=0 in local.txt
    And if you're one of those crazy guys who actually wants to test AVX, at least disable FMA3. There's no reason any sane person should test FMA3.

    CPUSupportsFMA3=0 in local.txt

    I'm looking for my calipers right now. I had planned on putting a resistor in line for the 5v fan.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071...=SY6RG51AYDNVNXQ2C2HA&dpPl=1&dpID=81SqnupUOKL
    I'm looking at these, as I can build a custom shroud (3d printer) should also be able to build the blades as well.

    or you can just do xtu bench test, it also runs in burst so a good indication of how heatsink can handle it.

    I just kind of set them all to 8191 or something.

    And 300W each.

    when i got it, it was stock. because i had a 5.2 sample i was able to push relatively high. basically clevo impose 1.31v limit as per johnks, and bunch of other throttling factor so it'll become as high as your chip can take under those imposed condition. if the cpu doesnt hit any of those limiting factor then at stock you could still OC but that isnt the point, theres so much $hit you can't do on stock.

    testing 900p with external power supply would mean i had to keep keyboard off and reinstalling window having to constantly flipping it over and remove sata SSD was a huge pain. prema's bios save me so much more time on that its like undoable without it. other important things i used aside from core OC.. cache OC, legacy boot, legacy video, ASPM for DMI/PCIE and sata to get more performance from it.

    I removed all of it from mine. I posed the same question a few days ago lol. My 2nd GPU absolutely loved it being removed.

    That's been a thing since the first P870DM model. Removal aids airflow, especially for the slave GPU fan

    Due to the Prema copyright, and previous history of people stealing his work and selling it as their own, the BIOS files cannot be released to end users.

    Can't you just ship it back to Metabox?
