@Prema
I was wondering how I can obtain the EC firmware fix for the keyboard freeze on starting windows?

This is a legitimate question, it should be impossible for this type of attack to affect anyone if not targeted, as far as my understanding goesDonald@Paladin44 likes this. -
In case someone wants to use an older vulnerable code they can still do so by manual override via OS code injection methods.

@Johnksss @Prema @Mr. Fox @Phoenix
So I was able to test my laptop at a stable clock of the following:
CPU @ 5.1Ghz (x51 multiplier)
RAM @ 3200Mhz (Thanks Johnksss for the settings)
GPU Memory @ 5.8Ghz (+810Mhz via afterburner)
GPU Core @ 2Ghz (+175Mhz via afterburner)
I was able to reliably push 30K+ with 3DMark FireStrike V1.1, however, I couldn't get past 30480 because of the following (I think):
1. GPU Core clock (I cant get it to stabilize past +175Mhz/2Ghz), which I believe provides most increase in performance for 3D mark tests.
2. CPU Clock @ 5Ghz (I couldn't get it to stabilize modifying only the multiplier beyond X51)
3. CPU temps are approaching 90C even with the HVT cooler, GPU temps dont seem to go beyond 80, leaving more room for overclocking on the GPU.
Tests are made with Windows 10 Pro latest edition/ Prema Mod Bios
I appreciate all tips to obtain higher results!

Would you mind sharing how you were able to clock the Core to 2100Mhz?Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -
@Prema is working on a few things having to do with vbios, but....
As to the rest. I can't really speak on that.Last edited: Jan 30, 2018Donald@Paladin44 and Commandor like this. -

This is not always possible with all computers. It just happens to be easier in this case.

For the CPU I left everything Dynamic in PremaBios (as their yielded best stability for me) and played wth the multiplier only. To make it easy and simple. However tweakers here can help you tweak your CPU with the stock bios.Last edited: Jan 31, 2018JCordero31, Johnksss and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -

Unless you have modern chips going to 3200mhz is going to be a challenge.

I'm getting one of those as well now.
P870TM1
Most probably from Clevo Center because they have a good price and are a Prema partner from Europe.
Will describe everything in the process in detail as things go on -
I can confirm that replacing the keyboard does not get rid of the issue with the keyboard not working in the OS
-
Should be seeing an update from HID in the near future to correct this I believe. -
-
how does one control rbg and where can i download the software for it?
-
-
Also, a large reason for picking Clevo Center is going like this:
+ I need the laptop for my company, so I can buy it for my company with some tax cuts (as this is the EU law)
+ That makes them cheaper than any non-EU shops from the start
+ I haven't noticed any other European Prema Partner shops who might have this type of offer, there are the nordic guys, but they didn't mention this on their site as far as I can tell
+ Shipping to within EU is flat 50 EUR, cheaper than any non-EU shop, further making Clevo Center good priced for EU
+ I spoke around one hour with Clevo Center and with HID before, both are great in PR and offer a lot of help
+ Clevo Center is a Prema Partner shop
A few personal minuses at this moment.
- I have no idea how good the machine comes from CC at this moment, how good the thermals are, but they seem to apply a fair amount of treatment for proper thermals, including delidding and polishing of the heatsink surface, so it evens out, at least in theory
- I never ordered from them before, so I really don't know much. Seems to be a very well-renowned shop in Portugal tho
+/- another European seller that I studied is Obsidian. They are friendly and most definitely trustable, but no Prema BIOS at this moment. They are second in my list at this moment
+/- if I were in USA, I'd probably also consider HIDevolutin / import and shipping from USA to USA would make them a good deal there. -
There from UK so any eu tax break would apply.
There's no prema bios.
I got a 8700k and 1080 SLI for less than €3500 which i couldnt find anywhere cheaper.
I wanted to go with HID but was worried about the distance if it needed returning.
So far I'm very happy with it and the temps are great I never see more than around 70c on any part. -

They label it the vortex but it's the last one on there list.
They don't have as many options as most but for the maxed out 870 there price is good.Georgel likes this. -

According to throttlestop I'm unable to get my package power above 123.7W. It is also giving me a limit reason of VR CURRENT. This, I believe, is severely hampering my efforts to get a decently high OC. Is there a setting in the bios where I can change this limit? I have the Prema bios.

Hello everyone. I just read through all 129 pages. I am 100% certain that this is the laptop for me. I was hoping to get some advice on my build before I ordered for HIDEvolution. I am building a laptop for intense gaming, and I was hoping to make it as "future proof" as possible. I have a reasonably large budget (as expected for someone looking at this beast) but obviously I do not want to spend more than is advisable or necessary. Thank you all for your help you've already given (all 129 pages of it!) and looking over my build.

Is some good reading to get you started. There are a lot of articles from decent sources should people want to read up on it and do a search in google.
Normally I would break something down if nothing obvious came up in the first 5 or so hits in google.
KNOWING there is something to look at is what most people don't think of in this case. -

Your desktop work flow is likely to be a placebo effect. Some games do stress the memory more and two is more ideal. You do get 4 slots so two lower ones still is likely sensible at this level.

Most users will be better off with a larger tlc drive than a smaller mlc drive. Their system will be obsolete by a couple of decades before it dies.
