Metabox in Australia offers it as an option. all you need to do is find the right model number.

Why would you want an IPS screen with a much slower response time? What you have is 5ms...the IPS would be 25ms.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes you do have to overdrive IPS pixels to respond faster and notebook panels don't have the space or power/cooling to cope with that.

Hehe I edited the name in the post! It's so hard being a newbie! anyway I hate the color of the Tn Panel! :'( I mean it's my fault I went with that but the IPS looks so much better. I traded the color for the speed so I guess I really have to buy an external IPS monitor.Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -

What are the cons of having that kind of screen?Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -

Good job!
You didn't get Color Calibration...try calibrating the colors yourself so that they look good to you. Then you won't have to give up the SPEEEEEEDD!!SirSaltsAlot and Papusan like this. -
Viewing angles are not impressive for IPS (it's only slightly better than my last TN), it has ghosting, it has no gsync, I have a problem with USB latency spikes when my monitor times out and comes back (setting "turn off display after x minutes" in windows power plan settings, and when a game changes from fullscreen to the desktop and vice versa) which nobody else who has ever touched one of these seems to have (and nobody else seems to have found this screen and reported here, so I'm actually blaming the screen as it happened across multiple Nvidia driver versions, BIOS versions, OSes and OS installs).
The Chi Mei has a better colour space, same colour depth (8-bit), almost the same viewing angles, little to no ghosting, has gsync, and if the problem I have is screen-dependent then it certainly won't happen with that one.
The only downside is it "isn't IPS", which is useless since it's similar or better in every other way. IPS only allows better viewing angles and contrast; if another screen has similar colour spaces (better in this case) and similar viewing angles (because good TN can beat bad IPS), then what's the point of the IPS? It's pretty much straight downsides.
And yes, I have calibrated the colours on mine. For 21 hours straight with Displaycal. The slowest, best-quality options possible. And it doesn't even get close to 70% Adobe RGB.raz8020, Papusan and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -
Mine is scheduled to be here on Sat am. I have a gig that evening so, I probably won't have a chance to mess around with it until Sunday morning. 3 questions. 1. What do we need to download prior to meeting up virtually with you? 2. How long does it take to optimize? 3. How do we schedule a session with you? Thx in advance. Oh,and u accept tips right?

All you need is TeamViewer installed then when you get your laptop, tag me and I will send you a PM to pass on the TeamViewer ID/Pass so I can connect to you. You also need a Dr. Pepper and some Nachos to enjoy the show

Every time I try to override the voltage on my CPU and then run a benchmarks the CPU voltage regulation gets switched back automatic. It tends to do it when I run AIDA64 if that means anything.
-
I hear prema bios should fix dat... -
i'm waiting on him before i pull the trigger on a p870tm-g.
cos hexacore be sexy! -
Can you not get prema BIOS after buying a P870?
-
As long as you got yer machine from an OEM that deals with prema bios yer all good. They'll install it for you when the bios version is available for yer model. If you didnt get yer machine from a place that deals with it you are most likely f|cked from what I have been able to gather. -
Don't think Xotic deals with that, oh well.
-
or try to convince @Prema that you're all legit and it's worth the time LOL
and they're a tough bunch to convince last i checked.HBoogieMann likes this. -
I've read the story of the guy that took credit and doubt he's be willing to trust random forum guys anymore. I'll just deal with stock clocks, machine is powerful enough that I dont need to OC.
-
With as busy as I imagine the dude is he prolly dont even have time to laugh at the requests before he sh|tcans em. -
It's not so much about OC as it's about the right CPU voltage settings. the stock BIOS on a P870DM-G lowered the CPU voltage to mobile levels....for a desktop CPU. Prema's BIOS fixed that so it runs at the proper voltage or at an adjusted voltage to your liking.

I played some Dota 2 with Ultra Setting and I get these temperatures.
-
Did you try changing voltage with throttlestop?
-
Dude, make it like native screen res cos I can't read it for peanuts!temp00876 likes this.

That screenshot is too small to see anything. Plus DOTA will probably run on an unplugged potato with no video card happily.... -
What the difference if just adjust voltage in throttlestop?
Dont see need for prema for clock or voltage adjustment -
I see, guess I should have researched more.
-
i have never used TS because I had the presence of mind to ask for the BIOS to be flashed when I got the p870dm-g.
-
I've been doing it through the BIOS

I will post more more screeshots with better resolution. Im actually getting 94c max. Im not sure if im doing something wrong or it's normal.

Allright, at the risk of starting a flame war...
I've been buying Sagers for 10 years and I've been happy with them.
but all this talk of crippling the cpu in the bios is making me consider Evoc.
is it kosher to ask for pros & cons?Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
When you buy an EVOC, it is built with another level of quality. Starting with the perfect thermal paste job, to added shims and whatnot depending on the laptop, to properly stress testing the machine, to more versatility when selecting system components like they have faster RAM speeds than most other system builders, more HDD/SSD choices, and the list goes on.
HIDevolution delids the CPUs which brings the temps down by as much as 10-20C. That is a MUST on any desktop class CPU as they run as a hot cake if not delidded. If you delid yourself, the CPU warranty is gone but if the system builder does it, then it's fine as they take the risk. Only a few system builders are willing to do this. They also offer factory overclocked laptops
but the cherry on the top is the Prema BIOS, without that, I'd never want to use ANY Clevo laptop. Period.
It prevents throttling, and has a host of other features:
Benefits of Prema BIOS:
• Restores user ability to overclock or underclock the CPU
• Restores user control over CPU power settings (voltage, watts, amps) for optimal performance and/or thermal efficiency
• Restores ability to control non-turbo CPU core ratio
• Restores ability to control CPU c-states and p-states
• Restores ability to control BCLK (northbridge) and FCLK (System Agent) frequency
• Restores ability to enable Intel Speed Shift Technology functionality
• Restores ability to disable Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) functionality which is intended for software developers who want to use that feature and causes erratic system behavior
• Restores ability to control RSR, Watchdog Timer, ASPM, ACPI sleep and hibernation functionality
• Restores ability to control RAM timings, clock speeds and enables the utilization of XMP profiles
• Restores ability to control selection of Legacy, UEFI and CSM to install whatever operating system is desired
• Restores ability to control CPU-based DEP, AES (encryption) and Virtualization
• Restores ability to control GPU scaling, PCIe speed and power management features
• Restores control over Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 configuration
• Restores control over SATA port configuration and Intel LPM. Having the ability to disable drive ports allows exclusive control over what drive receives the BCD/boot sector, system and recovery partitions during Windows Setup and eliminates the need to physically remove non-OS drives when installing a new OS.

I don't care what you prefer. I post the list of features that the Prema BIOS has. Don't like it, don't get it and go eat your cookies elsewhere.
With your kind of attitude, you are sure never to get any assistance from me in the future. Pretty rude to join a forum and your first post goes towards an old member that has helped hundreds by saying that what I say is "claims"!!
But if you must, then watch this, to see my comments about the Prema BIOS, skip to min 10:57

With that attitude towards new members you will scare them away, feel free to educate people but if you copy paste at them don't expect a positive response every time. -
This is pretty juvenile behavior from a senior member towards someone asking for real world performances and results, which are more important than synthetics. Your attitude far outweighs mine.
-
I have a personal relationship with HID or EVOC computers. You WILL get hands down, fantastic service. You will get a laptop that has been "lets say" customized big time. They put a lot of effort into customer satisfaction, communicating and tweaking the machines to run GREAT. @Donald@HIDevolution spent a half hour on the phone with me the other day going over minor things. He could have just brushed me off. Go with HID you won't be disapponted. This was meant for @BillRSpartan@HIDevolution and Georgel like this.

Alright guys. I'm back in the states now and I'm going to be posting some pics (like I said I would) of the installation of my new ssd I asked yall about a couple weeks ago, along with the correct ram HID sent me.
But first, I'm having a bit of trouble getting the bottom panel off. I looked up a video on youtube of a guy taking his bottom panel off but I can't seem to get mine to budge. I got all 9 screws removed, any suggestions? I can't believe I'm having trouble removing the panel lol xD -

So here is a better screenshot. Im getting 95c max on Dota 2 High settings @ 4.8hz
-
Take a look in the video.
-
Thats the exact video I watched. Everytime I go to pry the corner like he did, I ain't getting any feedback. I'm probably doing it wrong. I don't want to break the plastic though.
-
Start use your fingers in front grids/grills and push carefully up. Then try open up the backside (machine lying on his back upside down). It's a bit tight when the machine is new.wtjwillis likes this.

And you good sir, are awesome. Thank you.
Did what you said instead of how the video shows it, and it worked. Didn't even touch the back, just worked the front grills.
Pictures following very shortly!!Papusan likes this. -
So, I removed the K/B screw, but, the hole he shows in the video to pop the keyboard out, is covered up by my processor latch. Any ideas? I have pry tools in my kit, but I'm not sure if this situation warrants that or not.
-
I poked through the middle fan (you can also remove it and poke), make sure you hit the black part as that is the back of the keyboard that needs to be pushed out.
-
-
That worked! Awesome!
This current SSD installed by HID has thermal pads on it. Think its worth it to take the "warranty void if removed" sticker off my new ssd and place thermal pads on it?
I'm thinking probably not since the slot I'm going to put it in literally has a fan under it. I imagine that will helps the temps out a ton for it. Thoughts?Papusan likes this. -
Pads won't help much. The cooling in P870 series is good. Try it first.
