ridiculous, I never did imagine Clevo to play such a retarded part in this. I do not understand.. Why? Absolutely ridiculous, all that money is driving companies to insanity, unacceptable.
    All the luck to Pkhetan

We're working on that, Clevo is launching with the 580's, but rest assured we'll have the other cards up for pre-order soon (Can't speak for anyone else however)

It does have the Intel 520's that use SF drivers. Sager wouldn't make anything available unless it was fully tested. I know there has been concern with SF and Sager/Clevo in the past but recent firmware updates have fixed that.

Recent firmware as in HyperX should work just as flawless as the Intel 520? I want to be sure before taking your word for it.

Understood, thanks, was just wondering if you meant sandforce in general. We'll see, they've probably fixed a whole lot, I wonder, would be nice with a Vertex or HyperX or even the 520.

^^^^ Clevo has worked closely with Intel and their releases like the NEW 520 series SSD.

We can feel confident in ordering one of these with the Clevo-Sager models now. :)

I've been looking at the configurator on Xotic's website, and I notice that the whole Bluetooth boondoggle is back on the P270WM. So... Like the other mobile platforms (P150HM, P170HM), BT is only available on the Intel 6230, and not the Intel 6300. Is this seriously affecting the P270WM? :(

Are you seriously in need of a BT? And even if you are, the 6230 is a great card you won't be missing much unless your plan was to go the killer 1103.

Its another card just like the x7200 so it depends on the individual reseller/builder if its included or not. On our builds they all come with it automatically. So all of ours will have bluetooth.

Awesome! I'm just perusing multiple resellers, and I have noticed this as well. Thanks!

Yes, I am in need of BT 'cause I use Bluetooth headphones. A lot. I love them to bits. Also, I would rather the Intel card because I have not had any issues at all with Intel wi-fi in my setups. Brand loyalty, I suppose.

    Hey Everyone,

The other cards are up now for pre-order. The only difference is that they will be launching about 2ish weeks later than the 580's. So if you can wait the extra 2 weeks then you can have 560s 6990s or quadro cards.

There is one more thing that will be added to the pre-order, but not until monday :) *spoiler* its not a new video card

Just a note....Clevo and Sager have NO plans to use the AMD 6990M in this model.

As far as the NEXT GENERATION of AMD GPU's...that remains to be seen... ;)

Hello, new to the forums and looking for advice. I almost bought the previous model until I saw this one coming out. Based on all the information I have been reading here I waited. I have been a "silent reader" for some time. I am looking at buying one of these now, but am undecided as to which seller to use. The main 4 I can find are xotic, powernotebooks, sager (direct), and mythlogic. Mythlogic says they are not a reseller, build their own, and seem to offer a better warranty. But they are not BBB approved like the others? Any suggestions among these 4, or is there another I am missing? Prices seem comperable, but am looking at more options for video cards besides the 580m.

And why no 6990 support? The price difference seems huge between the 580/6990, but performance comparison tests I have read seem negligable. Plus the price to go from single to dual 580's in this machine is huge - more than on previous models. Any reason for this?

Aside from the resellers you mentioned I can also highly recommend LPC-Digital (babyhemi here @ NBR). Mythlogic is not a reseller but a system integrator which is a totally different league. Their price might be a bit higher but they offer more options and better warranty.

As for the GPU's, I agree, the price of the 580ms is too steep, even Dell charges way less for those (only 50$ extra from 2x6990Ms to 2x580Ms). If Sager has no plans to offer the 6990s, your option is either to wait till the 7990s or buy from a builder offering the 6990s ;)

Hehe we do <3 you also :p

For OC'ing yea we have some preliminary testing in for OC'ing, and its about the same from the X7200 in performance increase. You have to remember that what we are testing on isn't quite the same not quite production BIOS, but it has the same limits as the X7200 which is the CPU heatsink is really far away from the CPU (For gap between CPU's and heatsinks go). So we've seen some improvement, but we should see a little better OC with the production version.

For the others, when the 79xx's come out we'll have them also =) And if they come out BEFORE mid-march then you can always switch your config.

Thank you for your time and replies. So in order to get something besides a 580m in this machine, I would have to buy from a company like mythlogic? A prior post of theirs mentioned other gpu cards available, but their site does not list them - a matter of timing (I know this machine has only been officially listed/launched today for preorder), and/or are there any other system builders out there that can do this? Just curious as I make my decision, and still concerned about no BBB rating.

I would PM you, but you don't have 5 posts yet. We don't have a BBB rating (as their monthly fees to be a BBB "registered" merchant are a little high) we do have a resellers ratings: Mythlogic Corporation Reviews - mythlogic.com Ratings at ResellerRatings or check our feedback in the feedback forum also.

Something I am wondering about is this. This uses a desktop processor correct? Will this be detrimental down the line in terms of heat or overheating as I imagine being in a closed in space opposed to a desktop tower could be problematic no? I have been wondering what the downsides are and is it worth going with this as opposed to just waiting for the new chipset to come out?

At stock clocks there should be no heat problem. Clevo does a good job making robust cooling systems. The only concern is if you are into benching and overclocking. You probably won't be able to push that thing as far as you would do in a desktop.

Overheating won't be an issues. These NP72XX models this one is replacing also had a desktop CPU and very similar chassis and it handled temps just fine.

Once of the reasons the chassis is so large on this model is to ensure proper air circulation.

I've almost pulled the trigger on an m18x a number of times and now I know why. I'll be picking up a barebones and having some fun. Is the pixel warranty really necessary or should I feel confident that I shouldn't have any screen isues?

I ordered my 9270 yesterday. I went with the basic default config with the thinking that if there was something I want or need to upgrade later I can always purchase it and install it myself.

The M18x is a great laptop, but I'm glad I went this route instead. Can't wait until I get my hands on it.

I understand why a comment like that would be made as I've said it myself many times. I'm trusting that should I have a major issue that Powernotebooks will be helpful with whatever problem I might have. If not it will be a hard lesson learned.

I was initially going to get the x7200, but decided to wait until this came out instead. I hope I'm not disappointed (and I don't think I will be).

By the way, I doubt I'm the first to buy this beast, but maybe I'm the first one brave enough to admit it. Do you also remember the very first Xbox 360's that came out in November 2005 and how many of them had the 'red ring of death' problem? I got mine on launch day and never had a single problem with it. It finally died this past summer after nearly 6 solid years of service.

In benches there is no reason why it would not top the M18x except for possibly CPU overclocking, but most benches are multi-threaded so the 6 cores should win out

Unless battery life is a bench.....the Clevo wins hands down in hardware accessibility though.....

There's plenty of GPU and CPU benches you are so familiar with :) GPU wise everything is open. CPU wise, OC'ing of course! I'm thinking even in multithreaded tests a 29x0XM@5ghz would be a winner vs a stock 3960X, don't you think? IF so, everything is open.

As several on this forum know in working with the x7200 (which this model is similar to) has what many have said 'the most robust cooling' around.

It has 4 large fans as seen in the pictures. Surprisingly it is not that loud at all. Unless you "step on the gas" . :D
