Didn't notice that it is back lit. What I did notice is that they are finally using an almost intelligent numpad design! Guess it only took 2 years of reviewers all saying how much they hated that keyboard design haha

But no left windows key........you know, the one we all use. I guess clevo has a ways to go yet before figuring out how to make a proper keyboard.

This keyboard design is actually a good thing I hate when I'm in the middle of a intense game and I hit the windows key by accident. Most good gaming keyboards have a toggle switch to turn it off or they put it on the right side like this one :)

I am hyper-critical of clevo keyboards. It is one of the only things that I don't like at this point. Until the M18x was announced I was very close to getting an x7200 but that keyboard was a deal breaker for me. I also like having the option of battery life.....but on the models with the desktop cpus I know that won't be happening.

Clevo obviously has their act together on cooling and performance which are of course high on my list for features. But that keyboard......

about cpu hs, i think p270wm one is better, bcz the heat pipe stick on copper fin, larger their contact area(x7200 one heat pipe pierce into copper fin)
but p270 one has 40~45 fins and x7200 one has 50~55 fins
    [IMG]

and see the pic, one of the dimm is under the hs, must take out both fan and hs to upgrade it :)

They won't begin shipping until late February, so no one can test a Xeon until then.

but we know p270 support 8 core, so 135w e5-2690 will be no problem :)

Hi everyone just joined this forum because I recently found out about the x7200 and really wanted to get one but disliked the fact that there was no back lit keyboard, I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and I was wondering if any of you knew who offered the best military discount out of the resellers? I know Malibal offers a measly 5% discount and haven't really had the time to do further research because of "work" All of my buddies are getting Mx18s for 20%+ off and are pushing me too also but this is my second deployment and I see more in my future and really need a solid desktop replacement, thanks for the help guys

    Hi Dan,

Welcome to the forum! We all appreciate your work in the military in Afghanistan!

This model that will start preorders February 6th and should be an excellent machine for you. It is the most cutting edge machine released to date!

The Clevo-Sager models do not have the headroom to cut much as I am sure that all the other resellers will verify. Clevo-Sager models are already at a discount at there posted prices on the various websites.

Dell-Alienware put the headroom in to allow for such cuts as 20% or so. This NEVER happens for the Clevo-Sager models.

I have been working with Clevo-Sager since 1996 and this is the situation.

What you can do is to email the resellers and see what is the best value you can get for your money. Get the bottom line on your configuration shipped to you. :)

But what is your purchase price? AW's usually run quite a bit higher.

All things being equal on similarly configured laptops, 5% off of %1500 would still be better than 20% off of $2500.

Sorry guys, but that's not true. I agree on the fact that Sager notebooks have a pretty defined price with minimal possible discounts, but your claim that other vendors charge quite a bit more is incorrect. I have just configured a x7200 with the xtreme CPU, 2x580Ms, 2x500gb HDDs and got ~4000$ price at Malibal and ExoticPC. For comparison, a Alienware M18x with xtreme CPU, 2x580ms, 2x500gb HDDs, is now on sale for 3,699 at Dell.com. they also accept military discounts and you can get 20% off, comes down to 2774! Not to mention that the AW comes with free Razer NAGA Epic MMO gaming mouse. C'mon, let's at least be real.

In addition, Dell has a Next Business Day warranty even for soldiers in Afghanistan, so if something ever happens to the system, you won't need to send it overseas ;)

I agree though the NP9270 is gonna be one hot seller

Now, it all comes down to your personal preferences. X7200 and NP9270 are unique systems with desktop CPU and 3HDD bays, upgradeable screens and more. AW M18x on the other hand has a slight edge in performance + decent overclocking potential, NBD Warranty, 5-6 hours battery, backlit keyboard, wirelessHD, etc. Price wise, the AW wins hands down, as you can get one today for almost half the price of an equally configured x7200.

Regardless of what system you pick, you'll indubitably enjoy it ;)

This response if off topic of the tread, but I wanted to post my final response to this tangent.

I'm not seeing what Aikimox is seeing. I just did two builds, and it supports my previous post. So, I stand by it. Perhaps the Build above has some coupon or something else? Perhaps the difference in price of the 580s are less than difference in price of the 560s? You did mention a sale, but I didn't see it when I went in and just did a system build.

In any case, I just built these two systems:
    x7200 - i7-970 Hexcore, 2x nVidia 560s (SLI), 12GB RAM, Momentus XT 1stGen (500GB), Std DVD +R/W, Intel Centrino Ultimate 6300, Win7 Pro.
    Price :
    $2604.22 @ 5% discount - $2474.00.

    AW M18X - i7 2860QM Quadcore, 2x nVidia 560s (SLI), 8GB RAM, Momentus XT 1stGen(500GB), Std DVD+R/W, Killer Wireless-N 1103, Win7 Pro
    Price :
    $3209 @ 20% discount - $2567.20

About the only difference is I didn't know what to pick in regards to CPU. So, I just went w/ the Dell/AW recommended. Also note, if you add extended warranties (which I would recommend to anyone for high end laptops), the Clevo was ~$150 @ 2yr and ~$280 for 3yr. Dell/AW was ~$200 @ 2yr and ~$300 @ 3yr.

Finally, this is to Dan. Sager offers a 3% discount if you use cash. Check to see if that can be used in addition to your military discount. If it does, that would get you an 8% discount instead of 5%. Do builds on multiple laptops (including AW, Sager, and Clevo, and other lappy vendors if you want). Research things, and find the best deal you can. Also, sending a private message / email to vendors on this forum may also let you find other discounts. Once you find a system, since your in charge of your own finances, pick the one that best suits your needs and place your order! Good Luck.

    @Jclausius,

I said, if you get the today's special package, not configure from scratch. (XM CPU + 580MSLI) I will post the links shortly...

Edit: here you go. the price is before a 20% military discount.

Sorry I should have been more clear...

I did not mean to indicate that Dell/Alienware charges more for their machines than Clevo-Sager.

I do know that with special coupons and other discounts you can get a REALLY GREAT deal. I myself have owned a M17X so I know.

The point I was trying to make was that there is NO provision for Clevo-Sager resellers to cut for example 20% off the posted price...that's all. :)

    Back on topic:

Will any resellers be doing video previews/reviews of the P270WM? I've noticed XoticPC has a 30+ minute review of one of MSI's latest laptops. I'd like something similar for the P270WM that goes very in-depth. Justin W. (I think that's who does Xotic's reviews?) will have a field day with the P270WM! Just like he did with the X7200, hehe.

That's true. I'd also add that unlike Dell, HP and other vendors, Clevo doesn't overprice the RAM and HDD upgrades, which is very good selling point especially for those who don't wish to bother with aftermarket upgrades.

    That would be great indeed.

Edit: I hope, those resellers who's gonna make the first reviews, can focus on the new backlit keyboard, it's quality and the backlight feature. Also, would be great to see a Wprime1.55 1024m run with temps, the new CPU HS looks more robust but numbers would tell a better story.

    Thanks in advance

Yeah, prime95 or wprime (1024m) would be a better reference. So, 53C @10C is about 70C @ 25C. I'm guessing ~80C in Prime but only time will tell.

Will the Clevo P270WM support PCI Express 3.0 interface, which would mean a new type of MXM socket correct. Since the CPU does support PCI Express 3.0.

Just this Notebook or will the entire Clevo/Sager line see a refresh at this date?
