LM seems to make a nice improvement. I'm repasting once more w new kryonaut just to see. I don't trust myself to apply on though. That's the temps I was hoping to see more of. I had to limit my CPU to 35W to get the temps averaging high 70s w spikes in the 80s

UPS screwed me over.
I was off today and the weekend and my package was out for delivery today but I come to find out they said they missed delivering it to me despite me being right next to the door the whole time.
They didn't even leave a missed slip.
Now I feel like my whole weekend off is ruined.
Been waiting a month and set aside time for this but now it's all for nothing.
I don't even trust them to try delivering on Monday.
I wish GenTech did not use UPS because they are horrible. -
I'm sorry it happened that to you. -
So did I. I didn't know what was condonaut and I chose in the CPU and Kyronaut for the GPU. I saw in a forum I must repaste in six months, probably. I will need luck

That's with a -.125 undervolt.
That's now the fastest score I've seen online for a laptop that didn't have a desktop CPU. Beats the all the Ryzen scores I've seen.misterman73 likes this. -

Nauz, when you get time can you run some 3d mark benchmarks? I'm curious to see how your machine does for gpu. If you can post GPU average clock rate it would be helpful. I noticed my 2070 was bouncing off it power limit constantly which kept causing the GPU to downclock hard. The constant fluctuating def hurt the performance of the 2070 super. Smoothing that out so far has given me better performance than most 2080 max q's

Weirdly, if I watch during Cinebench, even at the start of the test my CPU NEVER does 4.3 GHz on all-cores. That's supposed to be its all-core turbo, Intel XTU even shows it as such, but it's capping out at 4.2 GHz, even when there's thermal headroom left.

All-core turbo on the i7-10875H is 4.2GHz.

Anybody else looking at undervolting both the cpu and gpu as well as underclocking the gpu? After reading this blog about it, the idea of reducing wattage and heat as much as possible intrigues me. Im usually the first to jump on overclocking but I think i would be willing to sacrifice up to 10% of my graphical power to have quiet fans and no throttling. The 2070 super is going to handle anything I throw at it anyway.
https://sff.life/how-to-undervolt-gpu/ -
Why is this what Intel XTU shows then?
Notebookcheck.net also states:
The Intel Core i7-10875H is a high-end processor for laptops with eight cores based on the Comet Lake architecture (CML-H, 4th generation of Skylake). The processor clocks at between 2.3 and 5.1 GHz (4.3 with all 8 cores) and can execute up to sixteen threads simultaneously thanks to Hyper-Threading. -

My 25,314 graphics score is the #1 score on 3dmark firestrike for a 2070 super in a laptop apparently. Was shocked to see that when I just checked the leaderboard.

4.3Ghz is an ambitious turbo clock for the TDP.

I just got my laptop and installed windows and updated it fully.
But for some reason I cannot install the latest nvidia drivers.
Windows auto installed version 442.94 but I wanted to install the updated 451.48.
Whenever I try to install the 451.48 drivers I downloaded from Nvidia's website it says ,"this graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware".
I know I selected the correct settings under the website. Which was 2070 super notebook series and Windows 10 64bit.
Anyone else have this issue?
Only way I think I can get this to work is to manually add in the device instance path information into the Nvidia installer file. -
I just used GeForce Experience, it installed 451.48 without any issues.
That said, the sound drivers don't seem to be installed correctly for me.
Sound Blaster Atlas tells me to connect a supported device. -

Any clue OSD is?
EDIT: Seems it toggles whether caps lock, num lock, etc. show up on the screen when toggled. -

Anyone know what key to hit to get into the bios?
Also does anyone also have the issue where the nvidia control panel does not show the display settings? -
Currently running a CPU core -80.1 and cache -125.
Might push the core more but CPU temps were only in the mid 70s when playing Monster Hunter World.
I found out holding f2 on startup boots in bios set it to use only the 2070 super and disabled SGXLast edited: Jul 6, 2020misterman73 and Wisconsingamer like this. -
I think I have some weird kinks software-wise caused by installing Windows myself and not purchasing it preinstalled. -
I used this article. Just so your aware. While this will unlock the voltage slider and give you the voltage. You can not put in a negative value to undervolt. You need to play with the voltage frequency curve. Since your getting fantastic temps and great clocks already I don't see why you would want to touch the gpu.

Edit: my cooling pad came today which was coolLast edited: Jul 7, 2020 -
I was actually more interested in increasing voltage when overclocking GPU, but figured unlocking the slider would be needed for either method.
Also, the cooling pad arriving amuses me, because I ordered one with the laptop, and it got canceled and refunded because they were out of stock. -
Going to place my order this week. Is GentechPC a good place to order from? trying to make sure they don't do any shady stuff such as giving people lesser quality panels etc... or if ordering from Sager directly would be the best thing to do. Gentech is enticing with this free thermal upgrades and student discount which takes off a good bit. also which thermal solution is better for long term application and not having to repaste often between GELID GC-Extreme & Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. From my research, it seems that I am probably best off using GELID GC-Extreme since you have to repaste kryonaut more often.
-
I made my order on June 9th and my laptop was here by Jule 3rd.(although due to missed delivery I picked it up at the UPS facility on their next work day of July 6th)
Not sure if Sager would be faster.
I had my order remove the Sager branding and add diamond thermal paste and the fuji pads.
I assume they added the correct paste because my laptop runs cool only getting into the 70s while gaming and even when stressing the CPU it only gets in the lower 80s while maintaining 4.2ghz on all cores. And that stress test is not something really encountered in normal scenarios. -

My kryonaut came so I might get my last repaste done today. I'll take a screenshot of the voltage frequency curve I set for my 2070 in msi if your interested.

Anyone else notice high PCH temps when gaming?
After an hour of gaming I checked my PCH temp and it got up to 87C (CPU and GPU were low 70s) normally when not doing anything the PCH hangs in the 60s.
I've heard many stories of people having their laptops die due to overheating PCH after doing a lot of gaming over a years time.
Low 80s wouldn't worry me as much but mine was nearing 90c.
In my opinion all PCH should have a heatsink. I've seen people mod their laptops with one and it drops gaming temps by 20 or more degrees.
Also noticed the NVME drive is sitting around 50c and at one point it was recorded to hit 61C.
I might stick a heatsink on the NVME if there is space for it, I doubt it already has one.
edit: Just noticed the older version of this Sager laptop (NP8358F2) has one of the heat pipes going over the PCH while the NP8358F2-S does not. I wonder if the older version had high PCH temps.

I let Monster Hunter World run for a while and here is the max it climbed to.
So far Monster Hunter World is the only game I had power limit throttle the CPU down to 3.7-3.8ghz.
Seems to be one of the more demanding games to run (CPU and GPU) especially while trying to getting higher fps so I thought it made a good gaming scenario test.

Performance Mode Max Fans -100 millivolt undervolt on CPU
Volt/Frequency Tune on GPU w -119 millivolt on GPU
TimeSpy 9,139 Average CPU 86C/GPU 63C
Port Royal 5,121 Average GPU 68C
CinebenchR20 3,848
Firestrike 20,410 Average CPU 77C/GPU 61C
After repasting again my CPU temps are a bit better. New paste made a difference compared to my original repaste with 2 year old leftovers.
