Way cool, just "popped it in. Worked like a charm. Going to load Linux to see if it will boot from it. Had 640GB drive sitting on my desk. Now I have about 2.1TB. Going from OBHD to HD is about 20mb per sec. Kinda slow. Moving my movies to it. It plays movies without a stutter.

Is it the Hannstar stock screen or the old LG stock screen ? I have the LG one but heard that the Hannstar is better so I could be interested ... and I also don't live too far away from you.

So now i dont need the "littlebrother" anymore :p

I just ordered the AUO B173HW01 V.4 17.3" from MALIBAL this morning.
I paid the extra $75 for the Dead Pixel Warranty. I will let you know how it turns out. I'm going to take a before and after pic and post them up.

Just bought one from him(the last one, it seems).
Should arrive just around/before I get my P170HM... hopefully no dead pixels or any of that shenanigans.
Just wondering, should I just use one of those default calibration profiles that people made with the Spyder3 for the AUO, or is every screen visually different.

I order it on Monday Night after a fail attempt a CyberPowerPC.
They didn't have anything in stock and was extremely rude.

Anyway, Order from Mailibal Monday Night.
They process my order Tuesday morning, and since I check out via
PAYPAL there's no wait for verification.
I talk to a Malibal agent at their chat room support to make sure
I gotten everything I wanted. I told him I would love to get my laptop soon.
He/she made sure I had everything in stock to see if there's any delay.

So my laptop shipped Wednesday night! And should arrive tonight!

Did you get the upgraded build time? I ordered 9/18 and was processed by Monday... but no shipment yet, and I nearly have identical specs to you.
That build time seems like you paid the $50 for the fast build time upgrade.

There are, technically. Though they're all smaller resolution 1366x768 or smaller and not stock options. You'd have to trade in the 1080p for it unfortunately. Now a 1080p AND 120hz 15" screen would be an awesome option.

I'm gonna need a walk through on how to properly install ati drivers once they release bf3 specific driver.
So far jumping from nvidia to ati gpu I install drivers like a blind man, clicking on installs and hoping for the best :)

    Hey all,
Does any ones power brick make noise lol? I just noticed now, after playing some SC2... at first I thought it was the laptop but now I know its definitely the power brick. This kind of high pitch sqeeky sound lol. Comes on and off. You know how sometimes you get this deep bassy sound when you touch a speaker plug on metal...I can hear that too when I press my ear to the brick.

    No i'm not high.

Gonna RMA this thing. man...its driving me nuts!

my previous old laptop has that sound like you described, bring it to service center and they categorized it as faulty and changed me any power brick, no sounds after that.

    Good Morning
I just wanted to share my Shin Etsu X23 experience with yall.
I'm not too happy considering most of you guys have way better idle temps.
These temps are only a few hours after the repaste. After 2 heat cyces the temps have dropped a few degrees.
I hope they drop more. If not i will try IC7 Diamond.
I currently use a NZXT CRYO LX Laptop Cooler and these temps are without ever using the FN + 1 key.
    Ambient Temp- 25C/75-76 Fahrenheit

Here is one for you Brett, when I plug in my second monitor WITHOUT AC, My temps stay at 106F. But when I plug in my AC, my temps jump to 136F. Ambient room temp at 66F. Thanks

Edit: Looked into the power settings. Saw that CPU cycled down when on battery. Power conservation mode icon did not make a difference. Changed setting so that CPU would stay at 100% when on battery. Did not make a difference. It has to be how the GPU cycles down on battery and I don't see where the setting are.

You won't be able to run the CPU/GPU at full clocks on battery. It just can't put out the juice needed for it. Realistically, the temps and clocks you see on battery are about as high as you can get it without manual overrides.

Heh, I've been noticing that during activity that I have 3 blinking lights above the keyboard.... Wifi, HDD and Numlock! Seems its only the light itself, the numlock status stays how its set. Of course it is not consistent, now its just solid on.

I thought these machines all blinked away..

It was annoying at first how during activity, my wifi light would blink like the end of the world, but I didn't notice it again until I saw this thread..

I think the blinking is just meant to be.. :D

Hi, Just got mine from Malibal :).
I have one concern regarding the temps of my 580m; with NVdriver 280.26, stock core/mem/shader frequencies and IC Diamond past, my gpu easily reaches 97-99c temps in Furmark test in 10 minute time frame !. Haven't tried 3dmark or games yet but I downloaded the "Fermi Hair demo" from nvidia site and got 96c. Is that normal?

My idle temps are around 40c. I intend to keep my gpu healthy for a long time (3-4 years) and I am afraid the temps above could really halve that span.
I have set my 3d screen refresh rate to 120hz - would that affect gpu load at all?
