The ASUS G Series has the same finish if I'm right.
Also, Kobalt G150 Review by Kitguru mentioned that it feels like the Xai gaming mouse:
We’re glad to see that many laptop manufacturers are getting over their obsession with glossy plastic and the impractical qualities. Kobalt is no exception, giving the G150 a soft-touch rubberised finish like that we’ve seen on gaming mice such as the SteelSeries Xai.

i think i've heard G-series is close as well
-
alright thanks guys, I'm trying to decide but Ive heard some hate the rubberized finish so an actual feel for it will help.
-
The new Alienware M17x R3 has the same finish as well.

Heres an update on my order. Apprently UPS needed the entire day to clear customs. >_< My tracking number gives me "Released by clearing agency Now in-transit for delivery." It's definitely in the warehouse tho -.-
I spent the majority of the day waiting at my parents house for it too. Now I'll have to go back tomorrow! -
talk to them if that peaks your interest
-
-
You should be able to go to any Best Buy and play around with a G73 but the Best Buy versions are watered down. -
hi guys
i'm planning on buying a np8150 but i was wondering if the caddy case would reduce the hdd's performance (read, transfer, gaming load) and how ease is it to replace the optical drive...
thanks =] -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
The caddy won't affect the HDD at all, except the caddy supports only SATA II which is mainstream now, whereas the internals support SATA III, which is newer. It's very easy to remove and replace the optical drive, so don't worry about it.
Mr. Mysterious -
Woohoooo!!!!! My order just arrived....but I'm five hours away from home and won't be back till Sunday due to school trip (gets down on knees and screams "why?!?!)
I wanted to thank everybody on this forum, for answering questions, and helping me choose this lappy. Thank you all! -
Thank you Mr. Mysterious =]
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Sure, no problem dude. Also, I should mention that the HDD is only fast enough for the SATA II. Any faster, and you'll be looking at SSD speeds and SATA III.
Mr. Mysterious -
Just got an update today, Phase 3 at last, so looks like another 2 weeks and I should have my system in hand.
-
Taking out the DVD drive on the NP8150 isn't hard really.
Open the primary hard drive compartment on the mid-bottom. Check to see if a grey rectangular piece is visible (it should have a screw in it). Unscrew this, then push this rectangular piece outwards; you'll be pushing the optical drive out of the laptop. -
HEY GUYS I GOT IT!!!!!
To all the people that said the trackpad is bad. It actually is not (in my opinion).
I like the leather-rubber finish! And I very much enjoy the chiclet keyboard. Far more then my asus netbook, acer aspire 14" and dads hp dv5,dv7
I'll be uploading pics this weekend and doing a review =]
It looks like I might have got the wrong processor installed....It registers as 2630Qm...but I ordered the 8150-S1. I wonder what they will do about this...since it also passed through them >_< -
For you lucky people finally receiving your Sagers:
How's the fan noise? In particular, how loud are the fans when doing non-gaming stuff, i.e. browsing, Word, etc.? Is it possible (or advisable) to manually control the fan speed?
Thanks! -
Hooking up a secondary monitor will make the fans spin indefinitely, audibly. Quite annoying sometimes, but I lived with it. Understandable though. -
For the wrong proc, you can probably get the price difference refunded, or if you really want the 2720, they mostly likey have you send the system back
-
its not like theyre screechingly loud or anything
-
Really wish clevo would implement more sensors and control. Rather oddly Apple computers have the best sensors and fan control capabilities I've ever seen.
-
But the worst cooling under strain! By the way, I see that you have 6gb of ddr3 nllptr, don't you want to run your memory in Dual Channel?
-
-
Yeah but for Dual Channel you have to run dimms that are all the same size right?
-
and even if it doesnt support that mode u still only need the same size modules for each pair of sockets. u got two socket pairs in this case, thus u can use two different module sizes in order to run in dual channel mode.
-
To anyone who recently got their 8150: Does it come with all the latest drivers installed?
-
Delete.....
-
Huh? I thought for dual channel you needed all the same size and speed modules. How could 2x2+1x1 be running in dual channel? That doesn't make sense...
I am pretty certain you can't toss whatever you want interms of ram and still have dual channel, they gotta be same size and speed... -
dual = 2, so your pairs have to be the same.
-
-
talking about drivers: i can only recommend the 270.51 beta drivers with the clevo-modified inf by atmosk! finally supports 3D vision for notebooks (officially) AND they also included an automatic update function, very practical!
-
Another short vid, this one showing the Darkspore beta. Visit youtube for benchmarks and other videos I posted if you missed the other ones. Will be posting more as well.

@toondw
What will your main uses be for that laptop? -
hey im wondering whats the load temp and the ambient temp for the 485m ?
mine seems to go a little high -
Mine reached 74c-75c whiling playing SC2 on extreme at 1080p.
For some reason my toshiba 720p 26" has a hard time finding a nice resolution to display ;\
Normally 1366x768 worked, like on my desktop. Now I use some funny resolution like 1788x994? somewhere around that, and resizing never works in the nvidia control panel. -
Just had a total n00b moment. I wanted to play some Bad Company 2 on my 8150, but couldn't figure out why my frames were so insanely low. Then I realized I forgot to plug in the laptop.
-
I'm gonna head out to CanadaComputers on monday and look for a not so huge laptop cooler >_< to see if my temps will drop a bit =]
I like the idea of the SF-19 but that thing is massive! Something like the Coolermaster or ZALMAN NC coolers is what I may get. -
-
-
-
Not sure where you guys are getting these temps from. Idle is the same, but under load, mine just reached 95C playing Crysis 2 on extreme with no laptop cooler. I'm using it on my lap and the placement of the fans on the bottom are not very lap friendly. With the ZM NC1000, it topped at 74C. Huge difference and definitely not a waste of money in this situation. A bit uncomfortable in terms of it's design and weight, but without it, the laptop ran very warm and was becoming uncomfortably hot on my lap.
-
And, heat = evil.. Why not drop 30-50 bucks to help ensure the longevity/performance of your NEW $1500-3000 gaming rig
-
-
My temps under load max out at 79C, with BFBC2 maxed out. Granted it's not Crysis 2, but still...
