What if he gets on a bus and sees the delivery truck pass by?![]()
![]()
Btw... will it affect my performance to do a 3x4GB and 1x2GB mix of RAMs? Should I just do 2x2gb and 2x4gb?
-
Or maybe something drastic like crashing through the bus window while "Speed"-ing (pun on the movie btw) , roll on the floor in slow motion for safety and drama effect then proceed to run after the truck while breaking the world sprinting record haha.
As for the RAMs, doesn't really affect your performance. RAM is still RAM.
And.
After 2 hours have passed, the laptop is STILL in the depot.
EDIT: No wait! What's this?

you guys are lucky, mine has been on the build cue since march 3 and still no shipping dates/tracking numbers for me
-
-
May the heavens bless us all...and me

Congrats on your machine! You'll enjoy it very very much!

So, 2x2 and 2x4...Even if it's not true, I'm doing it that way just to play it safe. -
Looks like you went with Xotic, since you have the phases. I recall some other NBR members being stuck with at Phase 2 with them as well, due to some parts being backordered/unavailable. If you are having them do additional stuff, like new screen, or external finish, that could also be why. Hope you get yours soon though -
So far, I collected enough drool over my laptop to wash a whole car. Haha.
The screen is amazing! And this thing runs like a monster! And a funny thing happened; I opened the package to find a small bag of egg chocolates, given by the resellers. Haha, how nice!
The movie, "9", Blue-ray 1080p:
-
Wow! Images like that makes me wish I opted for the bluray player, but that's for another time
-
Oh, I didn't opt for one. Just had an external blue-ray player connected to the laptop.
Hey hispeed, do you have a problem with the fans throttling @ full speed when on adapter mode? It's pretty loud, and I feel like my laptop will fly off somewhere.
I disconnected my adapter and the fans ran back normal...weird. Battery setting issues? -
Did you try the Advanced Power Settings > Processor power management > System cooling policy > Plugged In set to passive? Not sure if it helps or not though.
-
What is the exact problem?
I may try it out, just explain it so that I can understand...
-
-
Hey guys I got some good news the wait is finally getting smaller. I ordered my laptop Feb17 and today it went into production ~ phase 2 !! Hopefully I get it before April =]
-
Just for anyone considering the upgraded shipping- it's probably not worth it. I went with the standard UPS ground shipment and it's scheduled for 2 day delivery.
Got my tracking number from Malibal and was told it shipped today (about 20 min ago). UPS site shows scheduled guaranteed delivery at the loading dock at my office by Thursday, end of business!
I'm going to do a full review when I get it and post it here and to reddit.com/r/sager (due to a ton of people there asking for one). Malibal/Xotic/Mythlogic have gotten 4-5 referrals from me so far! (Ok, a lot went to Malibal, but I'm biased). One guy I helped even bought me a month of reddit gold and offered to put in a reference if I went to work for one of the sellers... -
-
Thanks for the correction! -
Hello this is my first post,
After visiting 10 different reseller sites (from Malibal [couldn't figure out their phone number], to Ava, to Sager, to Exotic, to Eurocom, to PowerNotebooks, to Craigslist to Ebay), I finally got what I wanted from LPC Digital ( http://www.lpc-digital.com/). EZ, helpful, personal (phone email), in-tune with the OEM, adaptive to spec changes, same pricing at Sager Computer + Cash Discount (Thanks to Larry, and hopefully I get my system this week)...
Anyways ... here it is ...
Sager NP8150
i7 2720, 12GB RAM, GTX 485M, Intel 510 120GB Sata 6.0GBs SSD (Primary), DVD Drive
+ Disk Caddy on the side
+ Ground shipping (apparently 2 days to California)
This will be my first new laptop in over 3.5 years. Believe it or not, after 2.99 years into a 3 year warranty, the laptop's mobo died, so I kept that old computer for another 6 months (How lucky/unlucky is that!).
This computer will be put to work right away. I'll be writing in and checking in to find out the best way to configure finer SSD settings. -
-
That said, Mythlogic build my laptop please! -
Okay, my problem is:
When I run on batteries, the fan spins normally (as in it quiets down when there's no load and does something during load).
When I run on adapters however, the fan spins at this constant rate that doesn't seem to quiet down. Quite disturbing... -
What happens if you push FN+1?
-
-
Ok HW-Monitor should be installed if it was a pre-installed O/S, if not download it and tell us the idle temps please.
-
And from the looks of the HW-Monitor, the idle temps are quite high. I just switched this on, without anything going on with it. Maybe the reason why it spins higher than it should. Repasting needed maybe?
-
The CPU temps are like mine. I don't think that's the problem, but maybe my temps are a little high too?
-
Those temps are actually quite low for this machine. Your ambient temperature there must be lower than here. I will try and replicate it here but i would be putting my money on a power profile or something like that. Was your O/S preinstalled?
-
Oh, FYI, it's the GPU fans that are constantly revving.
EDIT: No, I have my own OS, Win 7 64bit.
EDIT 2: Power saver still revving it high.
EDIT 3: I will try to reinstall the NVIDIA drivers. -
Yes! Ok, assuming the GPU fan is on the right side of the laptop (like when you're typing on it), my fans do the same thing.
Click on the picture if you want a GPU temp widget thing. I have it and it tells me that my temps (nongaming) range between 37c-43c, but the fan always turns on and off, even though its not that hot. -
And yes it's the right sided fan. The GPU fan lowered down to silent or normal work load after uninstalling (obviously). But came back to the same constant medium rev again after installing back. Still wonders why it goes silent when the adapter is unplugged... -
To save power would be my guess. I just don't understand why the laptop thinks that leaving the fan on for 10sec every minute will make a difference. I'd much rather it be on all the time than just constantly turning on/off
-
-
My GPU fan goes on and off. I would say in any 60 second interval the fan is on 10-15sec of the time and off the rest. This continues as long as the laptop is on until I close the lid. The CPU fan barely comes on at all. Maybe once a few hours, unless I game on it.
-
Two different situations...hmmm...any other owners like to chip in about the fan throttles?
-
Have you guys openned your laptop yet? The initial pics of the 8150 showed it with aluminum heatsinks and newer pics showed it with copper ones. So all youbhave copper heatsinks?
Also has any of you with the new b3 stepping experienced the freezing issue? -
haven't gotten a single freeze
-
lonelywolf90 Notebook Consultant
Thisisalamp, will you be doing a review soon? =)
-
No freezing so far. But I haven't played any games yet or done any sort of serious demanding work except a Devil May Cry 4 benchmark.
Although, I am doing an extensive user-review for another forum.
-
Darn. I wonder why some have the aluminum one and some have the copper one.
-
Cooling, copper is better for cooling. The GPU requires as much as it can get. I just popped open a cover on a P150 and it definitely has copper on both the CPU and GPU. (This is the B3 revision model).
-
of course we know copper is better.
what perplexes me is why some have aluminum and others have copper for the cpu. obviously id prefer copper as it will provide better thermals that would make turbo boost 2.0 more effective. -
-
-
. Kinda weird though. But my temps are fine so I don't think that's an issue.
-
My CPU heatsink fins are also aluminum, silverish feel.
The GPU has copper fins though.
I thought it was supposed to be this way? -
Hmmm...my throttling issues went away. Verryyyyy weird...but hey, I'm not complaining anymore! Loving it more now
-
you said you were going to do an extensive review on another forum? linky?
