Intel is shipping qualification samples in mid-Feb., which Clevo will still need to QA before giving the green light. Then they'll still need to mass produce shells, which will begin in very limited quantities and must be allocated globally between the major vendors.

The chance that you'll get one in the 1st week of March is pretty much zero, even at the front of the line.

My order number is before yours (28189). I'm not expecting it till mid march. So I suggest switching. Before this fiasco I was supposed to get it by the end of this week since xotic was supposed to hold it for me, but I guess that's not gonna happen for a while.

8150 Yes, G53 Nope don't know what screen it is

    On the 8130 its a AUO Optronics B156HW01 V.0
    400:1 Contrast
    300 Nits brightness
    60% NTSC color gamut

(its the same screen as the 8130 its just glossy not matte)

We have some high quality screens that you can upgrade to as an option on our laptops, like the V.4 (Has a matte finish)

Which has a calibrated contrast of 391:1, Calibrated white of 214 Nits, and a 95% color gamut. If your looking for something a bit nicer

Thanks mythlogic. Screens are a huge priority... I might end up with a G73 just to have its amazing screen. That one seems to blow most anything away

The review of the same screen (the V.1; AUO11ED) on Notebookcheck.net provided the following stats:

    Maximum Brightness: 261 cd/m²
    Average Brightness: 233.2 cd/m²
    Illumination: 80 %
    Black: 0.38 cd/m²
    Contrast: 687:1

That's a pretty big difference in contrast, although it is the same screen. Which review is more accurate?

My numbers were off the datasheet for the V.1, so if they measured it thats probably a better number.

Just fyi, the G73 uses the same default panel as the W870CU, and I think the P170HM as well (need confirmation on the P170HM)

Hello. Could someone highlight the differences between the NP8130 and the NP8150 for me please? I was first set on buying the NP8130 but I was also hoping to get a machine that could have the CPU and/or GPU upgraded at a later date.

A friend of mine has a W860CU and he upgraded his CPU, and possibly his GPU also. I'd like to be able to do the same as I hope to be able to resell this machine in 2 or 3 years. Any help would be appreciated.

:D Thank you! I was actually reading through the entire forum but I'm at page 8 and I really wanted to know.

Also, could anyone link me to a review of the NP8130?

One more thing, I'd like to know how the machine (NP8130) runs really. I figure this would be the best place to ask about that. So, how is it? Are there any problems one should worry about?

I would do the same but can't because I need to take the laptop in public, maybe even work, and the last-gen processor. 2-3 months is a long time, but that's life sometimes.

According to ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 - Notebookcheck.net Tech with GDDR5 work in this laptop? It also says it would support switchable graphics. How come theres no option for this? or does it have too high power consumption?
I think Sager put them in the NP8690 before.

I decided the other day that I'm going to replace the Hybrid drive with an 80gb Intel SSD, and replace the optical bay with a 320gb 7200 RPM HDD to make up for loss of space. Anyone have any reasons not to do this?

That would be a great setup. The only recommendation is check the price difference between the 320GB and 500GB 7,200 RPM because it is pretty cheap.

Because the 6900M series is imminent, which dominates the Mobility 5800 by 40 plus percent, and has only a slightly higher pricepoint.

Why even inject lame duck tech into a cutting edge machine?

Its never to early to start whining. If anything, I'd be surprised if you didn't join. :)

Edit: Serious question: does the 8130 support 5.1 surround sound? There is a very good deal on logitech speakers and it seems like a good addition to my tech world. ( link)

Placed my order today w/ Xotic. Got the 8130, upped the CPU to the 27xx, 500gb primary, 750gb secondary (couldn't even tell you the last time I needed/used an optical drive), and got the high end wifi sans bluetooth (again, couldn't tell you the last time I needed BT). Eta mid April. Apparently they have roughly 20 orders ahead of myself.. eek, BUT they won't be charging my credit card until it's ready to ship. Good enough for me, this way if something is cheaper, or I want to change something, I'm able to do so.

Figure in 3-6 months I'll change that 500gb out for a sexy 256gb SSD.

Oh, BTW, Mythlogic was quick with emails, quotes as well. Went with Xotic partially on impulse and being able to place the order without getting charged right away was nice.

I agree--it's probably in the hundreds. This is b/c the notebooks get shipped directly from Sager and not the reseller (unless your order has custom skin, etc.). There may be only 20 ahead of you at the reseller, but the real number that counts is the number of orders Sager has to process ahead of yours--which would include NP8130 orders from ALL Sager resellers.

Resellers--If I am wrong please correct me.
