Hey guys, I'm surprised there still are some active people here, so I might as well try my luck:
I got this laptop in 2014 and until 2018 it was my primary computer, but since then it's been gathering dust. I was wondering what mods I could do to get a bit of extra performance out of it, so far I've done the following:
* Used liquid metal to drop the temperatures, about 20C - 25C.
* Applied an 80mV undervolt to the CPU, now all cores boost to around 3.2GHz.
I really wanted to get my hand on Prema Mod to unlock even more potential, but it seems like Mr. Prema has disappeared... Are there any other options?

Well the GPU would be the focus for gaming, what are you trying to do?
-
Yeah, my main focus would be to improve GPU performance (if CPU cannot be further improved, I've seen a post of somebody apparently reaching 4GHz?)
I have applied the +135 boost in afterburner, I assume there is some vBIOS mod possible to push that further, right? -

Iirc the vbios is built into the bios. Yes more would need an unlocked bios.
-
the biggest improvement is to up the clock speeds of the 4700mq microcode bug which lets you hit upwards of 4ghz
but that involves bios file duping and editing -

And cooling. Generally for games the GPU is going to be the focus.

Hey guys
As there is still life here I figured I'd ask some quick questions as my father-in-law may be about to grab one of these apparently in perfect working condition, but the old SSD has been pulled.
It's an older machine now, but for the potential asking price, its a substantial upgrade over his older machine and brings him to a reasonable quad core level of CPU performance, up from his old dual core machines. Perfect! The 765M was still receiving drivers until last year also, which is nice!
My question is simple; are there any major tricks or caveats I should be aware of trying to do a fresh install of Windows 10 on the this platform? I believe it may be Optimus, but hoping its all new enough it won't be an issue and drivers will be available from good old Windows Updates for just about everything
I have found Clevo's driver site, but the drivers are all from back in 2014...NOPE. -

Just the same guidance as any old machine, check heatsinks are clean, that paste is good and the pads are still ok.

Hello,
I don't know if you guys can help me, but since i'm desperate, here it goes. I have an Avell G1711 which is effectivelly the same architeture found in the Sager and Clevo counterparts. It has worked properly for years in Windows 7 with home maintenance, thermal paste applications, internal dusting, drivers updates and so on. Recently though, it begun to misbehave. It started to reboot in the middle of games, specifically GTA V and League of Legends. In order to troubleshoot i've tried about everything I found online, HD repair, memory tests, antiviruses, clean starts, safe mode, i've tried so many things for no success, i'm actually desperate, because now it refuses to stay turned on for more than 15 minutes. So i'm down to hardware problems, i'm guessing it is a PSU issue, but i don't have a functional alternative one to test it. Should i go for the buy of a new PSU?
Thanks in advance for the help, and if noone can help, thanks for the attention and knowledge, i've learnt a lot reading some of this topic. -

Does the PSU have a power light on it? If so does it go out when the machine powers off?
-
Sadly, it does not. The leds are all in the notebook. The energy led immediately goes from green to orange.

Hard to say then, it's a fairly common spec charger.
-
Yeah, it was the which came with the notebook. It has its years of service, but all of sudden these problems begun to happen, spefically, July 20th, as my Event Viewer states. Not always, but sometimes indicating the error "the speed of processor X in group 0 is being limited by system firmware". Seems so random. I'll search for technical assistance from the manufacturer, maybe they know whats causing the issue.

5.5x2.5 barrel type connector by the way.

Thanks!

I have an old XMG A503 that I believe is Clevo W355ST. The laptop is still working fine when I use its monitor but not in dual monitor.
Basically when I connect the second monitor with hdmi it become not stable. For instance chrome or Firefox show memory error, and They don't load website.Premiere crash etc .
I did reinstall the driver from nvidia also.
What can it be? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Don't remember off the top of my head but the Nvidia control panel will show what displays the Nvidia GPU is driving. If it is driving the display on HDMI (the internal panel will be IGP with Optimus) it could be the GPU on the way out.

Hello, I picked up a W350ST to do some video editing on a budget. This one has a I7 4700, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, Nvidia 765M video card and 15.6" screen. I picked up a 1tb SSD to replace the HDD and another 8gb ram.
This may have been asked but I haven't been able to find an answer. The system specs say it can handle 24gb ram but the CPU specs say it can handle 32gb. Has anyone tried to put over 24GB of ram in one and if so does it accept it? I've discovered it has a third ram slot under the keyboard and I'm thinking of getting a 16gb card. Do you think it's limited to 24gb because the mobo slots are limited to 8gb each?
I ordered some quality thermal paste as I've read these can overheat. I think between the past, SSD and ram upgrade this machine should perform well for some budget editing.
Thanks in advance. -

CPU is rated for 4x 8GB, not any 16GB sticks due to a limitation on the Intel memory controller.

Hi guys, have a good year
I own a w370st with prema mod v2 bios and a dead battery
I want to know if a program exist to manually adjust the fan speed or if someone knows which are the ec registers for that

Hi everyone. I have a W350ST that is still working. It has i7-4700mq and 8gb ram that is using the slot under the keyboard. The manual says that Quad-core cpus are able to occupy all 3 slots. Has anyone tried using all 3 slots?

That's right, with the quad core you should be good. They support up to 2 dimms per channel.
