I can understand you, was waiting 1 year to buy the M17X. Ordered the 8740w in April from the US, got it mid July... Every night from the shipping day was a sleepless one... Was very exciting and worked out well.

Speedy, Lpc Digital doesn't offer the x7200 as far as I can tell. Did you have to contact the by phone to get it/ special order it?

Speedy, also we can no longer refer people to googling specific terms. their algorithms have become so personalized the top 5 results are often different per every person. cool and annoying at the same time.

Asked a Norwegian reseller (multicom) and they told me they will not start selling the X7200 until they know when they will be getting it in stock, but the guy I was talking to was guessing 1-2 weeks.

I spoke to a customer service rep at R & J Tech. They say that the X7200 is available from them right now, though the XTU BIOS fixes aren't available right now, but should be available in 1-2 weeks as a BIOS update. Several of the factory upgrades aren't available yet either. Pricing seems pretty good, less expensive than Eurocom (by at least CDN 1000 if I am calculating it correctly for basically the same configuration); I'll be interested to see how and when the machine shows up on reflex, XoticPC and Sager (Sager sales rep told me they don't have a release/pre-order date at the moment, or at least one they're going public with). I'm assuming they're waiting for the XTU issues to be resolved, perhaps amongst other things.

True :). Though with the payment lag, I can still feel like I'm doing something by ordering early, especially since my NP9280 is dying, one hard drive at a time. It's great to see that you have the NP7280 up on your site, Justin. I'll have to drop your company a line tomorrow morning to confirm some details (Canada-based questions, I'm in Toronto). Price looks great too. :)

3.5k including taxes for a basic config with SLI 480M - Not bad at all. With 470M's it should be well under 3k.

Hmm. Now that XoticPC and RJTech both have it, and Sager won't be far behind, I'm not sure who to go with. Prices will all be in the same range. Canadian resellers are iffy, Eurocom is out due to their price and I'm not sure when reflexnotebook will get their supply. Any suggestions? Thanks for the manual, btw, theriko.

EDIT: Went with XoticPC - excellent all around reviews won it for me. Just made the order ... can't wait :)

Hey hemi, any rough idea on the price point for the 470's SLI? Your prices are fantastic......i'm holding out till december (job sign on bonus check coming my way) to pick up an x7200, i'll probably be angling your way to get one

Also, what is the real world potential to overclock with this laptop? I know that was a goal with the design, but is it actually safe to do?

I was going to pick up a NZXT Cryo LX with its 3 120mm fans to assist with keeping stuff cool (it appears to be the best cooler)

I wouldn't say it has much potential because of cooling and mostly power supply. I guess 10% is at max? (wild guess)

All we know at this moment is that the nVidia 460m is about $45-$50 more than the ATi 5870m. The 470m pricing is not clear at this time. It is reasonable to believe that it will be not more than $100 more than the 460m.

The video cards, the GPU's, should OC very easily and to a good margin. As for the CPU, we just do not know yet. By the end of the month we should know much more on this... :)

we should stick with the X7200 name sounds more appropriate for this Beast is more like Extreme 7200 and all the NP#### is like No Power 7280 :D always got me confused

is just my opinion i don't like to call something for 2 different names :)

    Which contains very nice information:

    1. The X7200 will either use a HANNSTAR HSD173PUW1-A or a AUO B173HW01 V.4 as display. HANNSTAR HSD173PUW1-A should be the same that is used in the W870CU, so the diplay quality is not that bad after all but certainly no RGB LED.
    2. The Service manual mentions the GTX 485M. More about this here.
    3. Cooling for the GPUs looks superb... just look at the size of the radiator and those fans.

D900F might be slightly better. D900F has 2 big fans + 1 small fan cooling the CPU while the X7200 has "just" two big fans + bigger radiator.

Yea maybe D900F did have it slightly better. Effectivity of cooling does not mean only more copper though. I wonder whether X7200 is louder or not. Looking forward to the first comparsion of these two beasts from you guys or other reviewers. Cant wait :) I might have missed it but.... is it 100% plastic? Some pics shows aluminium surface. Huh?

It has some brushed aluminium surfaces, yes. The key question is: How good is the GPU cooling, in other words: what kind of oc can be achieved with 100W GPUs.

you guys are killing me. first thing now a days is "how high will it over clock" lol
    that is too damn funny.
technically you shouldn't need to over clock anything and it should be capable as is. technically speaking of course.lol
