I sell yachts. And if I manage to do good money before september I'd love to buy this new monster.
Intel Desktop CPU, 480M sli, USB 3.0, but only 2xHD raid 0 as the 3rd tray I'll leave it empty 'cos this thing will be hot like hell..
Who else will join the team?
cheers

I'm too poor for this.
Edit: Oh, and you should get some mod to move this to owner's lounge. -
I can see you running out of options rather quickly .... -
So this xwing or xxx or what ever they call it will come out in September?
-
It has to be hard for most to determine whether or not they will buy this until they actually see accurate pricing info.
-
I am going to guess that the price in Norway for a high specced X7200 will be around 8000 dollars if it lands at about 4000-5000$ in the US :/
-
-
It shouldn't be so expensive with a i7 920 and dual 5870's. All of you people planning to buy it with the i7 980X and Dual 480 GTX's are plain crazy on my view...
-
Consider paying at least 1k $ extra for 480M SLI above the same config with 5870's in CF. Yaiks....
And there's still a huge doubt regarding performance.
465 proved to be in the 5770-5830 spectrum range and on par with GTX275. Underclock it by 40% and you hardly have even a 5770's level. 480M could be even inferior to MR5870, stock to stock. -
I doubt that Aikimox, even tho you are saying this in like every thread. Seems like a little ATI fanboy ^^, I must agree tho, the nvidia pricing is just stupid, but are we sure X7200 is going to be sold with crossfire HD 5870? When it comes to performance between ATI cards and Nvidia cards I have owned a lot of different types, and it always seems that Nvidia has better driver support which gives it the edge, even tho ati cards are supposed to get regular driver updates now (hopefully this will happen).
-
DR650SE likes this.
-
Clevos website doesn't even list the X7200 as coming with 5870s, just sli 480m..
-
I've had many Nvidia and ATI cards for the past 15 years and never had a strong feeling towards Greens or Reds. The biggest frustration for me was recently with Nvidia 2xxM series. The biggest positive surprise - 4870/5870. I'm willing to wait and see what does 4xxM have to surprise us with, but after watching many reviews of the desktop 4xx vs 5xxx series, have many doubts.
I still hope that x7200 will offer a CF option and anti-glare RGB LED screen. Otherwise, will see what SB has to offer -

I'm looking into the schematic diagrams of the d900c (ancient relic) from its technical manuals. It seems that the d900c had a charger circuit which could accept an ACin input from the external power supply capable of generating 54W of power (3.2A, 16.8v) . If you recall, the power supply of the d900c was only 220W (11A 20V). When plugged in, the system could use both power circuits for a maximum of 255W indicated on the schematics. The x7200 should have something similar since it also definitely has a charger circuit. This might mean that the 300W external power supply is just half the story and sufficient to power all the components when the internal power circuitry is taken into account. Still looking into it, pretty confusing stuff.
-
Pretty much the same spec that I have been looking at babyhemi (not sure about 3D stuff tho). Still think the price for that is going to be like 7000-8000 dollars here in Norway
-
-
This x7200 can't come out faster eh?. Is it coming out at the same time as the 480M (middle of June)? -
So is the screen going to be LED or still CCFL? Amazing sexy design, only place to get a lease for this beast is Eurocom, so should i trade my G73JH for a D900F or wait for this beast and sell the Asus and the other comps i have been selling.
-
LED screens for sure no CCFL ... They will probably have 2 options for screens one being the same thing you have in your G73 and then the 120hz one....
Dump the Asus and grab a new one of these since i see your crazy about notebooks, i doubt you would be happy with a single GPU solution 480 knowing that you could have had 2 of them ...
Sure it will cost a small fortune but by the looks of things you already have that tied up in your sig...
These new cards sound amazing other then the price and i have nothing bad to say about them at all other then the cost ... -
-
At this point my biggest interest is in the load temps of the 480M. Guess we'll see the first hands-on in 5 days from now @Computex. Should be very interesting. -
For all the English people:
Yes something like that, poor wallet. At least I can buy it through a company so I can take of the tax and VAT from the price...
Core 980X = 8000-9000kr and GTX 480M = 7500kr x 2 = 15000kr =23500kr just this.
Barebone is probably 15000kr (with bluetooth, 6GB ram and 500gb hdd), one SSD Intel Gen2 160GB around 3800kr, blu-ray about 700kr and probably some extra for 120hz 3d monitor (mabye 2000kr extra?)
Everything together would be about 45000kr = $6847,75. All just speculations of course. -
-
Much more interested in the x8100 if it does indeed get cf 5870 or sli 480Ms for the bigger screen at roughly same weight unless price is negligible in difference. No need for desktop CPUs in games. Have to admit I like the design of the x7200 a lot more though.
-
I would love to see an 18,4'' with a desktop cpu and a better sli/cf set-up... SLI 285M needs to be swapped out!
And the redesign looks quite nice, I always felt the D900F looked like a brick (even though it did what it was suppose to do it does not have to look that boring/bad ) -
Anybody stumble upon any high res, close up images of the x7200? Besides the ones on Clevo, Eurocom and Style note (those do not show much).
-
In 4 days you'll get the images, I believe.
-
Bad news the GTX 480M don't seem so powerful than that. Yesterday, I saw that the new gtx 480M offering up 897 gigaflops but i return on nvidia website today and oddly it offer only 598 gigaflops. So this card will be less powerful than the quadro FX 3800M (648 gigaflops) and of course the ati 5870M (1120 gigaflops but it's another architecture). We must see the benchmark for confirm that but how disappointing this new fermi GPU!!!
-
raw computational power != performance.
-
I agree but i would like compare the ATi and Nvidia Mobile and Desktop like this: the ati 5870 offer 2720GFLOPS and the 5870M offer 1120GFLOPS so it represent about 41.1%. For nvidia gtx 480 has1344.96GFLOPS and the gtx 480m 598.4GFLOPS it's represent 44.5%. So finally the GTX 480M will beat the 5870M of 13%. It is less than I expected for a price of 800$ while the 4870M cost about 400$. You have all the prices here :Clevo x7200 .
And It should be remembered than the ati has a TDP of 60W and the GTX 480M 100W. It also important for a laptop. And if you would like more power I guess it possible to overlock the 5870M more easily than the nvidia with 100W
Sorry for price's link: Clevo x7200 -
(in dollars)
GTX480 - $735.30
GTX480 (SLI) - $1,470.60
5870 - $449.63
5870 (SLI) - $899.39 -

Well, if the difference between the 5870CF and 480M SLI is only 500-600$, it might be not too bad ( if 480M beats MR5870 by at least 20-25%)
Still...painful.. -

The 480M in SLI, is not for the value type consumer at all. It will be for ones who are used to spending over $3,500 for a high end notebook. Believe it or not there are quite a few of us that do....expensive hobby...

It's the depreciation! At this pricepoint, the system could lose it's resale value by 50% in no time...which sucks when it's time to upgrade again (in six months at most for those on the bleeding edge). -
I'm in the same boat, m8. Ordered an HP with Dream Color 2 IPS anti glare screen and it will ship @ the end of June.
Provided, X7200 has a decent screen option (non-glare) and 480M kicks some... - I might cancel the current order and go for a Clevo. -
Wow you will also go for a Clevo i am about to trade for that 15.6 one you were talking about getting before. I might as well just save up for this beast i could go for Nvidia cause i do like the company a lot but its way over price and overkill. I hope they have a decent dream color IPS panel similar, i miss those sagers with Matte screens!
-
They probably won't have an IPS and maybe not even a WLED matte... But if it will be at least replaceable, - I don't mind. AW killed that option with its brilliant E2E...
-

Clevo has been going for the clear super glossy type screens for most of systems. My AOU screen is that on the W870CU, very crisp and colors are vibrant .... I like it and if the x7200 has this screen I'll buy it, but I hope to get the 120Hz 3D one...personal preference of course.
-
Megacharge Custom User Title
Man I hope they offer an RGB LED screen. If I do end up with the x7200, it would be difficult to not have one anymore.
-
Screw that; let's have a IPS or MVA screen. Matte, please.
-
That would be too good... I'd switch to Clevo forever, lol.
-
I must be behind on the news...
Where is this 120Hz LCD news coming from?
