Aaand AMD apparently followed Nvidia to the "thin gamer" category with the new mobile GPU's, so much about hoping for a brave step away from nvidia's direction.

I know Prema Mod bios is still in the works but does anyone know if the bios typically includes removing the bios whitelist? As in, if I do a panel swap to one thats not factory whitelisted, I lose Gsync but with Prema Mod, I possibly might be able to get gsync back if whitelist is gone? I have a KM-G on order with the 4k 60Hz display but I have a 4k 120Hz panel ready to swap out. Im okay losing gsync but would be awesome if prema mod allowed me to get it back.

They need a properly competitive chip especially in power to make a difference anyway.

    @win32asmguy @Mr. Fox

So this model says it has 4x PCIe m.2 slots and I do know that that 4th slot is the PCIe 4 slot but can one still install regular SATA SSDs or does it only support NVMe SSDs?

    You basically have 1x PCI-E 4.0 m.2, then the 3x M.2 reading from the mainboard is 1x PCI-E 3.0 and 2x M.2 for either NVME or SATA.

Which is why my SATA m.2's are in the bottom two slots of the side with 3 M.2 slots.

    Hello

    Just got my new Laptop

    Based on:

    insyde Bios
    I9 10900 CPU
    32gb
    Mother Board Series X170KM-G
    NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3070 8GB

The install goes without a hitch. But when it goes to reboot. I do that and it comes up with the BIOS LOGO and then it just stays there. I have it working on Linux Mint etc..

    Does anyone have any ideas.

    regards

    Mark

My Clevo has arrived with bios 1.07.04 date 01/11/20

Throttlestop is locked and undervolting doesn´t work

Quick Cpu resets all values immediately

    Any ideas?

What CPU are you using as any CPU that's non K SKU has no option to enable overclocking support in bios thus undervolting is blocked.

    1. Do you have Clevo Control Center installed?
    2. There's a newer bios if you still have the one from 2020. Link: https://download.schenker-tech.de/package/xmg-ultra-17-id-xul17e21/

Throttlestop does work, but you need to enable overclocking in the bios (it's like one of the only settings we can change now) and also CCC resets your OC every boot so if that's installed it'll override TS or Quick CPU

    Thank you for your reply

the bios versions seem to be the same bios 1.07.04

my concern is about more undervolting rather than overclocking

the cpu gets hot anyway ,it needs to be delidding soon

Cpu goes up to 100 degrees only at 50% usage in games ,fans are always on 100% at performance mode.At lower usage ,temps stay at 50 degrees

Which values should i change in ccc without losing much performance beside voltage?

Got it on the bios, that's good you have the latest version.

I don't use Throttlestop to overclock, I'm using it to undervolt - I have the same CPU as you, it's not delidded because of the "risk/difficulty to delid the 11th gen CPUs". My undervolt right now is -100mv

When you "enable overclocking" in bios all it does is let's you change stuff like voltage values, clock values etc. Otherwise the system locks those options if you leave it disabled. I enabled it so I can undervolt.

My max temp on CPU when heavy boosting is 88c, but average temperate when long term gaming/video editing is between 65c-79c depending on the game. Average temperatures is usually what you want to be looking for when you're running let's say a video game, since you'll usually be playing for hours. The little spikes to 80-90c for a few seconds once every 30 minutes won't throttle your overall experience.

If anybody's getting blue screens with ssd issues, I may have solved mine.
I have 2 980 pros in Raid0, and one generic storage ssd.
The 980s were in the 1st 2 slots and the other in the last. I moved it to the first and shifted the 980s down.
Haven't crashed since the change Monday.

If you're running stock speeds (1 thread at @5300mhz 16 threads at @4800mhz etc) the Power Limit 2 of 251 is wasted because the CPU doesn't need that much wattage to reach 4800mhz on all cores. If i recall correctly from my tests, somewhere between 180-201w is all you need to reach 4800mhz. Try lowering that first

Edit: Also wanted to add to make sure you're running the latest version of CCC. There was an upload on May 28 here https://download.schenker-tech.de/package/xmg-ultra-17-id-xul17e21/, that's the version I'm using right now.

I'm not sure if I did something wrong the first time but previously with the old version of CCC the max undervolting I could achieve stable was -80mv. With new CCC it went up to -100mv. I'm still testing -100mv though, haven't had crashes yes but I've only been running this for less than a day

The RTX 3070 is a 140w max right?, I am running stock vbios, with no overclocks what so ever or even an undervolt and yet HWinfo is reporting higher then 140w draw on GPU.

Momentary blips above the limit can happen, but during steady state it should stay at 140W max.

Listen to see if the clicking sound happens when the fans aren't running, then do something to make them rev up and listen again for the clicking sound.

If the clicking happens when the fans rev up, then the fans are the cause of the sound.

Hello I could not get ubuntu too Boot after install. Would just go to blank screen. I think it is to do with KDE/PLASMA. As I tried Open Suse and it would boot just fine. Soon as I used Open Suse with KDE option a no go.

Is it a black screen upon bootup? Try using the acpi_osi overrides I mentioned as the bios seemed to be locking the internal display backlight to zero brightness when an unrecognized OSI (operating system interface) is detected. Also if you have something like "quiet splash" then remove that too because it does not help us see the last line where it froze if its hidden by a bootup spinner.
