    I'd be interested in seeing:
    • Confirmation of 2nd mSATA slot availability in US.
    • Confirmation of 900p availability.
    • Some discussion of how drivers work for this type of notebook. Can you use stock drivers from NVidia or do they make custom drivers and lock them down as with Sony, Dell, etc.?
    • Oh yeah, and one more thing: switching between NVidia and Intel---is that handled via optimus?

My strategy is to wait and see what Dell and Lenovo offers in this category. I have a higher hope for those two than for Sony or HP (I really was looking for a new VAIO Z, but looks like that ain't going to happen). I love Dell's onsite warranty which I've only needed rarely but is a life-saver.

However, assuming nothing similar comes along, it's between this or the Gigabyte P34G. I think 1080p on a 13" is only marginally better compared to 900p; the P34G is thinner, lighter and being 14", the 1080p is actually going to be helpful to me. On the downside, there is a big difference between the 760m and 765m GPUs, apparently, so that the P34G might be slightly underpowered towards the end of its life relative to the W230ST.

      99.99% probable

      Stock drivers will work fine.

      YES

I would prefer a 900p screen on it but hope they don't put a cruddy one in. If it's a garbage panel I will just get the 1080p one, but I hope I don't have to :/

Yes---2010 vaio Z. Best 13" 900p panel ever, and perhaps the best TN panel ever made. Extremely bright with deep, rich colors on a matte display.

Yes I can't wait to see which matte 900p panel Clevo will install in W230ST. If someone has posibility to check it please share with this information. If it will be something similar was installed VAIO Z from 2010 I'll be in 7 heaven :)

My old Vaio Z 2010 that my wife took over has a 900p screen, it's by far the best screen I ever had. My W110ER screen look so incredible dull next to it. Even my old P150HM could not compare to it, even though it was a good screen. On the 900p I did not have to change the font scaling, it's a perfect size for 13.3".

    @Alex: I'm not sure. I haven't used a 900p panel :/
Does anyone know what are the temps of a HDD while lets say, playing games? Hopefully it's nice and cool. (I don't want my HDD to fail on me quickly, probably getting 1TB drive anw)

Can we get a confirmation if the laptop is shipping with DDR3 or DDR3L (low voltage; 1.35v vs 1.5v) chips?

I suspect ddr3; is voltage even configurable in the bios to be worth adding the DDR3L chips? (Suspect the answer is 'no', given how spartan my 110er's clocking features were...)

The rest of the world is just placing pre-orders, nobody is enjoying it except a select few Clevo builders (i.e. LightningPL). It is not officially available or released yet. For whatever reason Europe and Asian markets have started pre-orders.

Not sure if other Sagers/Clevos have these kinds of problems, but do you think the W230ST/NP7330 will have throttling issues?

I'm also seriously concerned about this potential issue. I am burnt by HP for the last couple of years. Throttling + excessive heat. My GT650M works worse than a iGPU.

I hope that the chunkiness of this thing and lack of optical drive means that they've thought out the throttling issue thoroughly and they've made it spacious enough to have plenty of heat dissipation. I hope the NBR review will address the issue.

The "chunkiness" is for several reasons:

    (1) Support for 47W quad core CPU's
    (2) Support for 60W GPU
    (3) User expansion

Items (1) and (2) relate to the heat dissipation, heatsinks, heatpipes, fans, and such. I'm certain Clevo did a commendable job with the cooling.

#6 = Has a proper vent hole on the side, as opposed to the Razer Blade/14" Razer model, which looks like a copycat MBP with the vent just being that little slit near/behind the screen hinge. (I saw 'em in person at E3, and was NOT impressed).

What is that "LOL" about ?

I know I'm most likely the exception, but the Ethernet port being missing from most of the recent sub-15" Ultrabooks is what brought me to consider and then desperately wait for the W230ST...

I guess I understood it differently, with so many companies going for slim form factors, thus not being able (or willing to find a "proper" way around) to have such a port (there's extensions of course, but that's one more apparatus to carry around).

Without the ethernet port, how could I be ready at any time to create a network for 4 Sega Dreamcasts running on a 56k router? I guess I could get a USB ethernet adapter, but then I would have to remember it.

I Like a bit of something to grab hold of ;)

    - seriously guys, I know there are limits to a reasonable "thickness" but what functional purpose can a "thinner" chassis possibly have that's going to make one laptop better than the other, apart from simply "top trumps".

I actually very strongly dislike the super thin laptops, my mate (who has a W110) has an Acer S3 or somthing (s5 maybe? - similar size to the W110), and it is super, super thin, we're talking thinner than a USB stick in places - it's awful to use, the keyboard is so flat it's uncomfortable and generally it just feels like a stiff breeze will blow it over - I'm really not a fan, If I wanted something thin that's easy to use and browse the net with a good battery life and a few entertaining games - I'd pick up the iPad mini!

Excessive thinness makes the laptop feels flimsy, you really don't need that as long as it's light.

I'm sorta concerned about the bezel, it's quite thick for a laptop of its size. It's almost as thick as my MSI's screen is.. which would be understandable for a 15" laptop. Still it's a great piece of work regardless.

I wouldn't worry about the bezel. It's just that the laptop is about 0.5" wider than a traditional 13" laptop, so it's needed. /shrug/

Thanks, but it has already been confirmed. And I wouldn't trust that site, tons of typos: available 16/8/13? 2KG including ODD and battery? 230W AC Adapter? 3W THX Stereo Speakers (2W x 4)?

Plus it's UK and a Clevo builder who could put any LCD they wanted in that thing. Plus no AC wi-fi card which I understand is what will be stock in that thing.

So what you are saying is they are underspeccing it from the stock configuration with cheaper parts and that is why it doesn't have the IPS and wireless AC right?

Mythlogic just put this up on their website - Callisto 1413. Is that the rumored more affordable 14'' version of the W230ST? Graphics card is Intel Iris Pro 5200, though. No nVidia spotted in the specs.

That is odd, probably a typo though. Probably meant 1x8GB + 1x4GB (2 SODIMMS).

Great stock price though. Pretty impressed.

No owner's manual posted yet though. Odd. Usually that comes out a couple weeks before it ships.
