    ^ elevate the laptop instead.

I played a bit with the bezel already and while it did seem to decrease some parts of "light bleed"; it did not get rid of all of it.. Not so sure how to open it up though, I guess I will try to play with the screen mounts now, but not really in a hurry.

OK so my w230st was just delivered! excellent, looks great. First problem: It says only 1 hard disk is installed - the 128gb plextor drive. I should also have a 750gb rpm drive. I have not installed any drivers yet, could that be why it is not showing up, or did they forget to put it in!!?? Thanks guys!

Where do you look? The Explorer in Windows does not show any complete new unformatted and unpartitioned drives, at least my Windows 7 does not :)
You could just flip it around and open the laptop to see if the 2.5" drive is installed and then check the BIOS for the drive with F2 during the boot. If the drive is there and shows up in the BIOS you may just need to format it using the drive management in the Windows control panel.

na from what i remember last night looking online. keep the i7. from the lowest i5. the upgrade to i7 was just £19. so they obviously value the dual core highly or undervalue the i7 because it was base stock and probably cos the i5s are just released. imo not worth downgrading for the sake of £19 plus thee is other i5 uprades that was more stly than the i7 4700. that is just ludicrous. lol like some will pay top dollar for the best i5 4330 just cos it has to faster stock cores than i7 4700.
however for someone who wont need power of quad in there apps and would see benefits over i7 4700. then maybe but i couldnt choose i7 4600 over the i5 4330 upgrade difference between the two is £62 for an extra 100mhz. so really you would spending £62 more just to say its i7 for 100mhz more. not worh it to me. but some people will buy it.
lol im just ranting now. if the cpus bhaviour in heat vs perfomance is similar to that of wingnuts w110er comparison. . in short stick with i7 4700....its a gaming machine with a posher exterior

@jharkov. thats too bad. i think they did take right handed people in cosideration to leave as less fault as possible. but eithe rleft handers or right handers are going to lose either. i think right handers are more favourable. having a fan at the back would not work unless the laptop was thicker and could do similar colling like the asus gaming series. but i rember the sony SA models with it at the back. over heated cos of the way the sreen would open.
im left handed but i dont use external stuff. im a pad man myself. so ill be fine.

Why does the beeper start to beep like the four horsemen of the Apocalypse are approaching once the Battery hits 4%...? There is nothing wrong in letting the battery hit 2~3%, but the beep is a total no-go
The Low-Battery-Beep function in BIOS is disabled - if I enable it, it already starts beeping earlier.

OK after trying to figure this out for a long time, I need to request help again. My 2nd HDD is not showing up in windows (8). I emailed the place I bought it from and he said all I need to do is go to disk management and set up the new volume. Here the drive is not showing, so I opened the machine. w230st.jpg My question is: Is that empty space (photo attached) in the bottom left where my hdd should be?? To me it looks like they forgot to put it in!!!

Nope. Not fixable. Might be able to improve it, but any amount of fussing with it I've done has had zero impact. Sometimes temporary but it always comes back. The bezel is not tight against the screen. And the screws / bracket are on the outside of the LCD.

    Hello,

I have had this laptop (Sager through XoticPC) for a few weeks now and wasn't having any regular problems with it but over last few days am getting regular crashes/reboots in Windows 8. Twice I have had the 765m "dissappear" to the nVidia driver (basically when trying to open nVidia control panel it says no compatible GPU device) when I uninstall and reinstall the Intel and Nvidia drivers it's fine for a while. Then happens again, I have tried the newest driver from Intel site versus Sager and seems to be okay now but haven't tried LOL yet today (stupid whole work thing in the way) which seems to be what causes the crashes to start. I have downloaded the Beta 326 but haven't installed it yet.

In running through as much of this whole thread as possible, basically until my eye's started bleeding :), I have seen one or two mentions of this problem but not any specific responses. I don't think it's hardware related as it does come back with driver uninstall but maybe just driver problems? I am kind of baffled by the lack of nVidia support for this card in 320 as it does seem to be a pretty prevalent card.

Anyone else seeing this same thing? Other players get pretty annoyed when you randomly disappear in LOL games :-o

    Thanks

We have heard the most stable drivers for the NP7330 are the ones included with the disc. If you're doing ok with the ones directly from Nvidia then stick with that. But if you're having problems still, uninstall them and reinstall the ones from the disc, or direclty form Sager Software Upgrade

Yeah, unfortunately so far the stock drivers are the most stable and offer best performance. Only a matter of time before nVidia offers better drivers. But for now the stock ones work perfectly fine.

I've tried the Stock BIOS & EC v1.00.05 for W230ST from Prema's thread and the fan tables are much more managed. I have yet to hear the fan bursting and roaring after flashing it. The fan increases in speed slowly now and the temps are a bit better since there is a 'low' fan speed.

Okay, got chance to test again, no love, basically I can make it crash and reboot at will by logging into LOL, doesn't matter if I am in game or just at initial screen 1.5 to 2 minutes and fatal crash and reboot. Crash log isn't giving me anything useful other than it's non existing memory being referenced by a driver but doesn't even give hardware reference so I am totally guessing it's video. Will go back to other drivers but frankly not expecting much since those were crashing also. I have never been to impressed with stability of LOL but there has to be something going on with this system for this many crashes. :-( It's a bummer

Just flashed the v5 BIOS and EC from Prema's website. Had some troubles after step 2 of flashing the BIOS (after the EC) where my laptop wouldn't boot - lights turned on, screen didn't. But I was able to unbrick it pretty easily using the Fn + B recovery system that Clevo's have.

So far - fan still seems to kick up. The boot splash screen is MUCH uglier than Sager's customized one, and Fn + 1 for full speed fan, Fn + Esc for the Clevo settings etc all work. Everything functions the same as Sager's BIOS.

Guys, my clevo wont stay asleep! It keeps waking up from sleep, and even when i choose shut down, it'll wake itself up or power back up straight away.
How do i disable wake on LAN? there's no option in the BIOS.

Just flashed the 05 version of the bios as well, got a shock when it hung at a black screen on first boot and began beeping and flashing, but all was good after a reboot, fan table seems to have been improved for me, even with the cpu at 65C the fan remains quiet on the lowest setting, I have noticed the case is warmer now but it wasn` t particularly hot to begin with so no biggie for less noise and no bursting, batterylife seems to be marginally better but nothing spectacular. Also thanks to frewster for helping me fix my bsod.

Just an update for anyone with orders from PCS. Seems that they are out of stock again on the chassis, they have told me they are expecting more in on Friday.

I had contacted them earlier in the week and they advised that my laptop would be out by Friday at the latest, since I hadn't seen any change in the production status thought id give them a call today. I had been waiting trying to use their online chat but gave up when it got to a 25minute wait.

So far not a good experience with PCS. They have great prices but have really let themselves down with the shoddy communication and lack of customer service. Why state a 10-13 build time when in actual fact its more than double that

The beep sound is intended by Clevo as a sort of "DON'T DARE TO TURN ME OFF" message...after both flashes are complete and the system turns itself off completely the PSU needs to be removed for like 30seconds before booting it again.
(As it is unique for this model, I now added this info to the readme)

This is "Clevo normal" behavior and is intended, don't try any recovery procedures that may brick your system. ;)

Also this is just the latest stock BIOS & EC the Mod will follow later...

I feel ya Joner, i was told every week that my order will dispatched by end of week or 2-4 working days for 4 weeks, your right about shoddy communication an lack of customer support and to top it off dishonesty.

I placed my order with mysn on Friday an it is already getting built an should be with me Friday or Saturday a week turnaround not bad at all compared to the month i had to wait with pcs an left dissapointed

I swear i will forgive them an stop my rants :p soon but not yet, the wounds are still fresh :D

Interesting to hear, I posted on their forums about the poor communication, crazy to see that they can provide live call waiting stats but simple stock management and order processing is beyond them. Think that Ill just cancel and go with mysn myself, costs about another £20 but think that its worth it just to have it delivered in a timely fashion. No wonder people have warned me off PCS!

i don't know, i think mysn is cheaper the difference is that you get 2 yrs rtb warranty bundled in, where as with pcs you can choose 1 yr or 2 yr that's why it seems cheaper, i saved about £50 after moving to mysn, but others have reported saving with pcs maybe its the different configs

So can anyone school me on Prema's BIOS vs a few pages back where there was a link to a Sager FTP site? What is the deal? Is the FTP site the official one and Prema takes it and tweaks with it? Additionally why is the updated BIOS not posted under the regular downlaods of drivers and such through Sager's site. It is buried within an FTP one.

The only thing prema did was removing the ME firmware which was old.
He's gonna push a more recent one soon.
Also, clevo's update does not contain EC, but prema got it anyhow.
At last, Sager is not Clevo, they have their own bios but it seems they didn't publish anything yet, which is why you can't find it on their website.
Usually, the only thing those builders do is put another picture with their name on it, and sometimes lock the update so that you can't update if you don't come from their bios.
So if you flash one of those bios, you might be unable to flash back to sager's bios.
I don't believe this is the case here/yet, prema should be able to answer that.

Thanks for the info joners. I've ordered from PCS and following a long delay, I too was told my laptop would be dispatched by Friday at the latest. Like you, I noticed the order status had not been updated so I emailed them but no reply as of yet. Now I have my answer thanks to your post.

I'm tempted to cancel and order from MYSN but the lack of pixel warranty puts me off. I wouldn't be able to tolerate even a single dead pixel so this warranty is essential to me.

Final post about PCS! Sorry to clog up the thread with this stuff!

Just went back to look at cancelling my order and found that PCS are now offering some additional CPU/HDD options that weren't there last week. They have also dropped the price....

As such ive just found that if I order my exact spec again id be paying about £10 less. Now ok i know thats not much, buts its the difference in cost between the upgraded WiFi card or in my case the 750Gb HDD instead of the 500Gb. Worthwhile upgrades in my opinion.

Ive emailed their support people asking what the deal is.

If you have an open order with PCS you should check. I can see that my order price hasnt changed.

lol over the past few days i noticed i save £1 redoing config. my config is cheap already. no complaints with price. ill give to end of month and see what they playing at and ill prob cancel.

Also how reliable is passmark scoring for ssd's? im of belief that plextor 256gb is best drive for msata and scores 3516 ranked 159 where as another drive bit obscure but its toshiba and it scored 4470 ranked 61. bearing in mind the other common crucial m4 256gb scord 2101. i know i wont notice real life differences but anyone who can work out how passmark is interpreted would be great cos they are pretty much same price.

So, I did a search and I may not have the right phrasing, so I'll just ask. Apologize if this has been covered already.

Is there any way to control/set the fan profiles/speed, other than Fn + 1? At least on my BIOS, hitting Fn + 1 just makes the fan spin between full speed and not at all. If there's a way to more finely control the speeds and when it kicks on, or at least setting a preset "balanced" plan, that would be great.

That is one of the things Prema will likely address with a BIOS mod.
