Very limited space so it looks like it was either the ports there or the vent.

Hey guys, I my self have been shocked at the new chassis of this piece of geek dust, thought it was going to be a w110er just on steroids.

Only thing i can say is they have definitely hit it out of park with styling can't wait to get my geeky fingers on it :<

this seems pretty bulky and ugly compared to the blade though, its twice as thick and if you upgrade the screen to a 1920x1080 they are basically the same price

    hmmm

Where are you getting these prices? The Razor Blade starts at 1799.00$. This won't start anywhere near that. It'll probably start around 900$-1000$

European country prices don't mean squat when it comes to US or Canada or even other European countries unless they're all using Euro.

The Blade starts at $1800 with 128GB SSD. You'll likely need to pay $200 more for 256GB and $400 more for 512GB (all guesstimates, but likely minimum), so a 512GB Razer will cost you minimum $2200 and you can't add your own most likely without voiding warranty.

This machine will likely start at $1200 (my guess) with i7-4700MQ, 500GB HDD, 16GB RAM, 1920x1080. Add $350 for a Crucial M4 512GB and you're at less than $1600.

I wonder when the best time would be to sell this NP6110 off, I am totally sold on this laptop.... I dont think it will lose too much value between now and when this laptop comes out since it was discontinued.

I hate selling old laptops. I feel like I'm selling a body part sometimes. My kids are getting my NP6110 when I get this laptop. Just the NP6110 will be used with an external keyboard and mouse and LCD instead of destroying the little guy. I can't wait to see the final machine though. Maybe the specs will change a bit and give us a 770m still ;).

Cost wise, I agree W230ST is going to beat the Razer Blade unless you go to the config menu and deck out the system to max. The only big factor I'm leaning on is the battery life comparison of both devices. I have tried squeezing as much battery life as I can out of my W110ER but still can't get past 3 hrs 40 min mark and that's not enough for me at times.

jeez, I am only getting appraisal value of $600 for my old laptop W110ER

    Appraisal: Sager NP6110 / Clevo W110ER

is it worth only that much?

I just put it on the forums here, its always good to have a 2nd opinion...

Unless it's just marketing Razer have made some interesting innovations with the cooling system. They might score points there.

I have a preference for clevo but can't wait to compare the price and review of all the new <2kg gaming laptop !! ( clevo, msi, gigabyte, razer)

Five finger discounted laptops don't count. :p

Mine did too, but that's because I got a refurb/scratch&dent for under $500. And anyone who pays full price for year old technology in a year old used laptop has more money than sense imho.

No, it's an extended April Fool's joke...

you know something. as much as im hard intot this w230st...ive seen that razerblade and im very impressed with it. if the same specs are not that far apart i think id prob go for the blade mainly because it seems like it may have a quieter mouse click which then does also have sleek aethestics. but we will see cos i alway wanted this

Razer Blade 14" with 512GB SSD is going to be $2300, $2100 I think for the 256GB version. Chances are you're going to pay under $1600 for the W230ST with a 512GB SSD (if you go with a Crucial M4 on your own). So the only thing that extra $600-$700 buys you is a thinner laptop and probably thermal issues. I personally think it looks pretty slick, but not slick enough to slip $700 out of my wallet. :p

I dont think I want a 1920x1080 resolution on this small of a screen, id rather take the 1600x900 especially for gaming, I guess we will see what this laptop gets (a deciding factor for me if I want one)

totally know where your coming from. im only optimistic on it because i think mouse click will be silent like some laptops. of course that shouldnt be the only deciding factor me me. head to head i do want the 230st. but im in the uk. id have to see the prices of both models really. and id probably void the laptop to change the hard drive should i had gone for blade. ill pay alittle bit more which ever is the quietest to use. 42db max for me. if asus can do it under 40 why cant other ones. if i dont like the prices of neither lol. i may import one depending on cost. but im very likely to order mine from pcspecialist if i order the clevo. their w110er prices are somewhat fair when you do some upgrades but final config price is probably 10% too much.

It pisses me off that they aren't using a 192 bit memory bus on this version. Considering they are offering it with a 1080p screen option, we really need that extra memory bandwidth. I wish Clevo would stop half-arsing it, and just be bold about things. If they're going to create a 13" laptop with a high end GPU and different screen resolutions, then at least give us different GPU performance options down to the bandwidth level.. let ME decide if I want to pay more for a card to maximize my GPU's performance. I highly doubt any heat or power consumption increase from using a 192bit bus would make or break it. I think this was done solely in terms of cost savings. I don't want that decision to be made for me, I would like the option to pay more for max performance.

A 128bit memory bus made sense on the W110ER, it doesn't make sense to me on this model.

That would require switching to a 770M, which I'm not sure is even possible. Is there any non-MXM version of the 770M? Since it seems the 765M in the W230ST isn't MXM based, according to what I've read on this thread

I'm just waiting to see how high can the Memory of the GTX 765M be OC.
    Highest and stable offcourse.
Wish it could go to 1500MHz(96GB/s) or above without any issue.

192-bit would be a stretch. I was hopeful that the 765m was a lower clocked embedded 192-bit GPU, but in the end that proved not to be the case. Based on the clock speeds though it should fare well at 1080p. I'm likely just going to run at 720p when gaming. I've finally decided to go with the 1080p screen because I need/want much larger screen real estate for desktop multitasking.

It will run just fine on a 720p.

    Read about an OCed GTX 650 Ti(768 cores, 128bit) from a 928MHz Core, 1350MHz Memory(86.4GB/s) to a 1228MHz Core, 1493MHz Memory.
    3DMark 11 score jump from a 4814 to a 6056.

Since the GTX 765M is identical, runs at 900MHz(boost 2.0) core, 1000MHz memory, an OC of 1350MHz to the memory will surely get around 48xx on 3DMark 11.
Well offcourse, by OCing it to a 1228MHz Core, 1493MHz Memory, will make it score around 6000 on 3DMark11. Which is near to the stock GTX 680M score.

But still, a 6000 performance mark on 3DMark 11 proves nothing on 1080p performance.

    Meanwhile the GTX 650 Ti Boost(768 cores, 192bit) which runs on 1033MHz(boost) Core, 1502MHz Memory(144.2GB/s), scored only around 57xx on 3DMark 11.
Though the OCed GTX 650 Ti scored 6056 vs the 57xx of the stock GTX 650 Ti Boost, it still looses in gaming on 1080p.

If the GTX 765M Memory on this clevo can't OC pass the 1350MHz clock, then I might skip this for Maxwell. :p
