i7 3610QM 4 cores
-
not going to be the i7 3610qm, though the prototypes did support 45w cores, i think they are limiting it to 35w cores, and the only quad core that fits 35w is the 3612qm.
-
But that is just me. -
the chinese site doing the review saids that is the cpu they are using....
-
well iheard from xoticpc that they are limiting it to 35w cores, we'll see once reviews come
-
Officially CPU Support is limited to 35W models...and that 3612QM is the only 35W quadcore...
The Chinese retailer TerransForce also tells us that if you plan to use higher Watt models than you also need to use a 120W or 150W power supply instead of the 90W one it ships with.
That being said a higher Watt CPU may just throttle back it's clocks if cooling isn't sufficient... -
This laptop looks amazing, but why is there no options for non-us keyboards or customization like on the exotics site. Its cool how you can customize it with your own logo and everything!
I wish you could add backlighting as well on this thing. it would be the ultimate laptop. -

So I noticed mythlogic offers 1600Mhz mem for the SB processors that only support 1333 Mhz while XoticPC only offers the 1333Mhz memory. I wonder why mythlogic chose to provide there default memory with a higher frequency than is sorted by the current processors... I also wonder if XoticPC plans to offer faster memory when the ivybridge processors are released?
-
Damn one of the only things holding me from buying this is the shipping rates... $159 USD to be shipped to Mexico is just INSANE.

It is not really cheap if shipping is expensive, let me explain why. The dollar-peso rate is changing very much, and I also have to pay taxes as soon as it arrives (16% to be precise). For example this computer: it costs $820 + $159 = $979 + changes in rates = $1000 + taxes: $1160 USD. I ended paying almost $350 USD more for the same computer... -
So any official release date of this thing yet or is it still wait until the end of the month?
@ Mythologic
You guys seem to have the best options available at very reasonable prices for this laptop, are you still going to do a matte screen option for this? will it be a full screen replacement or just adding a matte film to the existing screen?
Also a question about your SSD available, mostly these:
Samsung 256GB 830 Series
Crucial 256GB M4 Series
Plextor 256GB M3S Series
Intel 240GB 520 Series
Patriot Memory 240GB Wildfire
Price difference and read and write speeds aside are the cheaper priced ones reliable and good bang for your buck?
I don't need top speeds just speed in general.
This is going to be a secondary laptop for the road but don't want to sacrifice to much power any answers would really help
Lastly when IB CPU's are released what options will you have?
Thanks -
On the SSD's we don't put anything on our site that we don't have full faith and confidence in working properly for a long time, if you just want something decent and reliable then I would go with the M4, if you want to spend a little extra $ then I would roll with the Samsung 830.
When IVB comes out we will offer any chip that has a TDP of 35W or less, we believe that will be one quad core of the 3612QM variety, the IVB dual cores will come later. -
Great! Thanks for the quick reply any idea how much later the Dual Core IVB cpu's are coming out?
I really hope the matte screen option is a good quality panel, screen res I can deal with but as long as it's bright and has good color reproduction all will be forgivin.
For gaming would you reccommend the Dual core IVB over the Quads?
Silly question I know since they re not out yet but jut looking for yor opinion on this matter. -
We don't know when the duals will come out, we are hearing june/july but nothing has been written in stone.
Personally if I have to make a choice, I'll take a 2.8GHz dual-core over a 2.0Ghz quad core any day for gaming, as 95% of games are going to be clockspeed limited rather than core number limited. Plus they are a little cooler than the quads too. -
Hey Myth, is it either WLAN or Msata on the little one?
BTW, the 3612QM has 3.1ghz Turbo Boost on one core 3ghz on two and 2.8ghz on 4. -
And yea we'll see how often it really turbos up to that on the NON ES/QS parts -
I think on single core it should just be able to stay there and for the rest there is still "medicine"
EDIT: I just decided to get one of these babies from Mythlogic, too!
Guess I fell in love with it...it's simply too cute...imagining myself to use it in a plane or even when connected to a hotel TV screen...a whole portable mini office & entertainment system right there in my pocket!

Are the processors currently offerred for pre-order Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge?

Will it not be on the recently updated release date, April 23? It seems the other manufacture are getting out by then. NDA should be lifted sooner also
Can't wait get one!
NEWS

Great news, hopefully we can get IVB cpu's sooner rather than later and get this ball rolling.
-
Did anyone save Prema's pictures from the speculation thread? They no longer seem to be in the thread. His post was from March 20th and contained internal pictures and a close up of the laptop from all angles.
-
May bring them all back soon.
Until then:

I guess I will have to arm my credit card too. This thing looks too sweet to pass up. Just need to wait for AMD Trinity though and see what comes of that, but I might not be able to resist.
The dual core i7 Ivy Bridge seems to be the best way to go I think. Quad core is nice but not sure if it's the way to go with this little guy. I'm curious on pricing though, the 2nd gen i7 dual core is a $200 price increase, which is pretty substantial. Wondering if the Ivy Bridge i7 dual and quad cores will be just as much of a price bump.
Also will the heatsink be easily accessible for repasting? -

And damn, this thing is powered by an iPhone!? Wow, Apple's got the market on everything now!
-
Is that keyboard 100%?
-
Keyboard is listed as 'Multi-Language Full Sized Keyboard' on resellers sites
I assuming that they are 100% or as close to it as you can get in an 11.6" -

I wonder how hard it would be to fabricate copper replacements for those hold downs that included a shim to touch the memory. I'm also wondering if that would really help with gddr3 or if it would just transfer the GPU heat onto the memory chips and I should instead mod a old copper NB block to have a cut out for the hold downs and slip that under to help radiate some heat out those vents in the bottom that look to line up with the GPU memory chips.
It also looks like there is room to put some closed cell foam on the inside bend of the heatpipe to help prevent air from avoiding the radiator.
I wonder about the grills they have in the bottom. I can't tell if they are separate from the bottom panel or are cut outs. If they are a separate piece that is glued to the bottom it shouldn't be to hard to replace them with something that flows better and still be able to restore to stock easily for warranty returns. -

I am wondering if it's possible to buy a separate bottom cover so I can hack away at it for improved air flow.
I wouldn't touch the RAM with the CPU/GPU heatpipe though. It will flow from hot to cold, and RAM won't run nearly as hot as the CPU or GPU so the RAM will just absorb a lot of heat. -
I wasn't thinking about touching the heatpipe directly but rather replacing the AL looking hold downs with copper ones to transfer the heat to the GPU block to use its heatpipe to move the heat to the radiator.
The other idea would also avoid the heatpipe by using a low profile copper NB block I have from years ago, and just cutting it down to slip under the AL hold downs so that the hold downs keep it in contact with the memory chips and the fins on the block would radiate the heat in the space between the hold downs to be exhausted out the bottom slots. -
Going to return my Alienware m11x r3 in favor of this. Would I be stupid if I purchased it at this very moment (well, probably a day from now) without any complete reviews out?
It seems to surpass everything and goes beyond what I was expecting out of the m11x r3... God, I was so excited to get that, and was immediately shot down the second I have heard of this. I am still within 21 days of the return policy and decisions are hurting me right now...
. -
I woulld return it in a hearbeat, the M11x is a great laptop in it's own right but the ULV cpu's are what's holding back. They are basically the same price but the you get almost twice the performance with the Clevo/Sager.
I know someones going to buy one as soon as they are available so personally I would wait for a review just to see how it handles heat, how loud the fans get and screen quality.
The only thing the M11x has over this is a backlit keyboard, huge + for the AW but the performace difference alone makes up for ot easily. -
I was just checking dimensions against the HP DM1 11.6". This thing has a smaller footprint than the DM1 and not much heavier or thicker
HP DM1
11.49 x 8.46 x 0.83 - 1.26
3.52 lbs
W110ER
11.30 x 8.15 x 0.5 - 1.46 in
3.96 lbs -

just trying to save you the headache of another change -
I wonder what the "Painting" in the pdf, that I posted a page back means?
Is it just the design on the LID?
Anyway, here a thermal test with the officially unsupported 3610QM 45W Quadcore:
ALL CREDIT GOES TO GOODBYTE!
-
Not sure but I sorta like the dimpled matte finish lid and palmrest, looks like it will smudge less and not look like its covered with fingerprits after using it for a few minutes.
Only lid I have seen is this the one you posted with the horizontal stripe:
I was horrified when I seen this picture though!
What a crappy paste job really sloppy -

Man, I'm really pumped about getting one of these now. Just wish we could get a hands on quick look from a reliable source. I'm mainly interested in these things:
- battery life
- fan noise / user adjustable fan speed (on Clevo usually Fn+1)
- screen quality
- speaker quality
- CPU and iGPU speed/performance on battery
Although I will most likely order one as soon as Ivy Bridge rolls in. -
Just as a FYI we have the matte screens up and ready. We got them in today and we tested them =) As before its the same screen just a different finish, but they look nice.

As for Speaker quality, the P150EM has been reported to be very loud.
Screen and speaker quality are always top notch with Clevo units. I had an NP8130 (although I returned it) and the default matte screen was extremely crisp and sharp. I can't even imagine how good the 95% gamut must look. -

Did you test them on the actual laptops? If so how are tge fans when running?
Good color? Is it bright?
Will order for sure once we hear what IVB cpu's are available. -
Guess this baby will see a rush of Ex-Alienware users soon:
Alienware's M11x is no more, bigger is apparently better -- Engadget -
I don't get it, the M11x had to be one of the better sellers in the lineup and to just cancel is going to a lot of loyal customers off.
Very bad for AW great for CLEVO.
