PM babyhemi and see what he can do for you. LPC-Digital is usually able to match and usually do much better.

Alright I decided to go from the NP9130 to this and just build another custom PC for gaming. Anyways, I kept everything stock and got thermal paste and the network card. Is the IVB upgrade worth getting if I'm on a really limited budget? I'm going to be using it for light gaming (Some FPS's and Skyrim) and otherwise for web browsing and so on.

this may seem a bit much...but can anyone do a youtube video of POV gameplay on this laptop?
im having a hard time with the screen size... -
I'm thinking of purchasing this laptop or the w150er, primarily for gaming on the go (diablo 3, tribes) and was wondering if anyone had any comments on which one they thought was a better buy? From all I can tell, for another 50 bucks or so, I get a 15 inch instead of an 11, a cd drive and both come with a 650 but one is 1gb and another is 2.
Any thoughts? I'm really torn between the two and would like some outside help. FYI I have configured both with the 3610qm ivy bridge, 750gb hdd and 8 gb ram with no OS. -

Hi,
I am looking at getting one of these maybe. The good news is i live in Michigan about 35 mins from Mythlogic so i can do a local pickup.
That said i need a bit of help on what i should spec it out to.
I am looking to use it mostly to take to my GF's when i am there and she goes to bed and i can game still. Mostly use it to play Diablo 3, Tera, Guild Wars 2 and would like to be able to play them at max reso.
I don't think i need a SSD since for the cost and how many games will will keep on it i will run out of space quick so probably do a 500g 7200 rpm drive.
I think i would rather have the glossy display, and not sure which processor i need. I can get the cash discount but have to pay sales tax. I was trying to keep it under $1000 but looks like thats not going to happen.
Thanks for the help -

If you want below $1000 you'll have to go with a Sager brand like from LPC-Digital like I did or XoticPC.
Depending on what you want to do, will depend on what to spec it out with. Unfortunately we don't have much data on power consumption of the 3610QM or the 3612QM or any Ivy Bridge chips yet. If you don't care to game with the HD 4000 integrated GPU on battery, then a dual core Sandy Bridge might not be a bad option to save you some money. It will be plenty fast for games. -
Just ordered mine from LPC. Even had a great chat with Larry on the phone just to clear some things up before my order. He was extremely helpful. Hopefully I get it before D3 comes out so I can play anywhere.

If i did go with Mythlogic what setup would you recommend and what processor. Trying to see how over budget i will be. I really don't know much about the Sandy vs the Ivy's to know if i need one over the other.
I was thinking about maybe heading out there tomorrow since i have the day off.
Did you get yours yet? -

Best to PM the resellers with your config to get a solid quote.

Well I ordered one from XoticPc:
i7-3610qm
8 gigs RAM
750 GB HDD
IC Diamond thermal compound
External DVD drive
Intel Advanced wireless card
And it cost me less than $1000. I'm very happy with the price and can't wait for it to get here! -

I think I might be ordering from ReflexNotebook.ca. Only thing holding me back right now is that they seem to be having a problem with their exchange rate at the moment, they have it the reverse of what it currently really is. I'm just trying to work something out with them to get it priced properly and I'll hit the purchase button.
I'll do an unboxing and small review once I get mine. -
Speaking of y'all canadiens, wouldn't it be great if Linus (linustechtips) unboxed one? Ive ended up buying most of the laptops hes unboxed (i buy and sell used computers) and it'd be nice to keep up the trend hehe.

Is it safe to assume that the USB 3.0 ports provide power? I assume that the manual keeps emphasizing the "powered USB 2.0" port because it is capable of providing power when the system is in sleep, and not because the other ports are incapable of providing power when the system is awake. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Should I spring for the Diamond thermal compound or an external dvd drive?

Agreed. Especially with this model. 91C is hot enough, and that's with the IC Diamond

elo guys!
I am thinking about buying this laptop also but... i would like to know how high is the fan volume when playing a game (max settings) and how high it is in windows surfing on the internet, watching youtube video's and so on... Could you please write what type of processor do you have when recording that volume?
Thanks

babyhemi: You also shipping to Latvia? is it possible to lower invoice price shipping to Latvia?
-
Took the plunge yesterday
had a little hiccup with the quoted price vs charged price (I think they forgot to give me free shipping) and once that is resolved I will be a happy happy man!

So where are members ordering from?
Even though it's very expensive to configure at ORIGIN, I have to admit the lid looks amazing.
-
Those who have the extra dough and want great service usually buy from Mythlogic, those who want the best price usually buy from Xoticpc, and those who miss their m11x's usually buy from Origin. I think that about sums it up
-
I bought mine from Lpc-Digital. Larry gave me the best price by far after I quoted the rest. He gives top notch customer service as well. I don't think he ever sleeps lol.
John -
This is actually pretty accurate for the US. I bought XoticPC because they have competitive prices, knowledge sales staff, good tech support and a great community forum on there site that is active and helpful. -
Still on the fence on wether or not to ride out to Mythlogic today. Waiting to hear back from them to see if they have what i want in.
-
-
What is your estimated ship date from lpc? I ordered mine from Xoticpc on Sunday and it has yet to process... If lpc is faster I might just cancel with Xoticpc and go lpc if they offer free shipping
-
Do you guys think there will be heat issues by putting a 3610QM into such a small chassis?

I have to say... They gave more credit to clevo than I've ever seen them do, maybe they are starting to listen to those who scream clevos name I'm there comments after all -

Do you think its worth the $115 to upgrade to 750GB Seagate Momentus XT ST750LX003 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 8GB Solid State Hybrid $115, over a stock 500g 7200 rpm drive?
-
How long do we expect these things to take to ship right now? If I order this week, can I have it by May 15?

HELP!
Was browsing NBR and saw a owners thread of the w150ERQ/5165/6165 and this guy reviewing it said that somehow optimus is giving more problems than solutions because it does not switch accordingly when playing games, only using the integrated chip.Take note this laptop(6165) has a switch at the upper left to control which card you plan on using basically a lock for using the integrated and dedicated and it is somehow not working accordingly that is why i think this would be better size+power(gt650)+battery+/- on how the switching of cards(hope its a + so that I can order it asap). This laptop has no switch so we basically will be under optimus(i am i right? or are there ways to by pass/ not use optimus and use the dedicated graphics card 650m all the time?) -
