    Is that what the thinkpad dreamcolor board is for?

    I don't remember seeing that component in the newer P50 and P70 though?

    @Meaker@Sager @Mr. Fox

    Is it true that the P870KM1 has more PCIe lanes since it's based on the Z270 chipset since it has 3x m.2 slots on the motherboard or is it exactly the same as the P870DM3 but with an extra m.2 slot?

    The extra 4 lanes from the PCH go to the slot. PCH to CPU bandwidth is still capped at DMI 3 speeds.

    It will be expensive if yooou absolutely want 3x M.2 NVMe drives. Maybe nice if you want one big drive :eek:

    It's funny how the desktop boards are saying "we can do 2 m.2 now".

    You always could (even 3), it has been a case of how many sata ports you want to sacrifice.

    Overall, it seems too much of an incremental update, with more I/O, newer CPU and accompanying chipset and updated panel options. I'm still considering a DM2 with single GTX 1080 since I can't get a DM3 with single card around here and do plan on buying locally :S However, after what several here have mentioned, I probably should ask for a vapor chamber upgrade which would technically convert it into a proper DM3, I believe.

    Just want to say hi to everyone. I been lurking around the Clevo forum for the past month and today I put in an order for an EVOC P870KM1. This is my first laptop and first high end computer of any type. I put in the order with Donald from Hidevolution and Donald was everything that I had read about him and more. We spent three hours on the phone and Donald walked me thru the ordering process, patiently explained the different options available to me. Two of those hours, we were just chatting about family, work, and retirement.

    Donald advise me to reach out to the knowledgeable people of this forum and gave me a list of names of people to help me set up my computer properly. I'll have to say that I'm a noob when it comes to high end computer and overclocking. I haven't kept up with advancements in computer technology for at least the last 8 years. My computer will probably arrive in a month. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning right now.

    Welcome to the family. Great choice of machine and vendor. You made the right choice. These machines are ridiculously beast, and even more savage with a little love.
    I hope you went for the delidded CPU option? It's not too late if you haven't and you'll be amazed if you did.

    Clevo does not have the man power to work on P775DM3 and P750DM2 with new chipset, so they will continue to use the old chassis and motherboard for now. The good thing is the lower the prices on those two models will be posted shortly.

    I just ran that configuration thru Hidevolution's website (EVOC P870KM1) and came out with a price of about $9,800 USD which is comparable to $13,000 AUD.
    From talking to Donald of Hidevolution yesterday, he mention that there are only 3? resellers approved to install the Prema Bios. You may want to check on that.
    I watched one of @Phoenix video on youtube today and he said to get a second set of power adapter if you're going dual 1080, so that will be a few hundreds more.

    Edit: I just realize that on the P870KM1, it allows for a 3rd 960 Pro 2TB to be installed.

    Yea, I did get the delidded. I had to back off on a second samsung pro drive because I told my wife that it'll cost $4,000. I'll wait a few months then take it down to Hidevolution to have them install the second drive. Their office is only a 30 mins drive from my home. Sweet huh.

    SLI configs of these should absolutely only be sold with dual powerbricks and a joiner. Are you sure you're not being confused by the "extra adapter" option on a customise page? They should be on top of the two plus joiner that comes by default.

    I could get away with undervolted stock clock 6700K + 2x slightly underclocked 980Ms on a single 330W. And both the 1070 and 1080 use more than a 980M.

    I mean the P870 is a great product as it is, but I have to say:
    This is the least innovative, most lackluster re-fresh I have ever seen from Clevo. Come-on just updating the chipset and adding an M.2?
    Looks like they are trying to 'play safe'...I hope this does not become a trend... :rolleyes:
    The larger re-seller should push Clevo to stay on top the high-end LGA game and innovate or others will...
    Evolute or devolute, there is no standing still.

    We are pushing Clevo for last 2 years to use P870 platform and upgrade to X299 Chipset with Skylake-X even if this means killing one GPU. But according to Clevo we/Eurocom is the only company in the world that is asking for this. So push your Clevo provider for real innovative laptop like P570WM used to be.

    I share the sentiment about the underwhelmingly incremental changes... but;

    A) what else is there to add to the P870 chassis that it doesn't already have;

    B) Z270 adds optane support, that would mean something if it were a thing;

    C) It's not Clevo's fault that Intel are selling tweaks as though it's a 'next generation' products and making us all :rolleyes: :rolleyes:. I know logic in quasiquantitative model naming schemes went out the window a decade ago but really this thread is about a 6710K and Z170 v1.1 in a P870DM v3.

    I just hope the reason that Clevo are out of manpower to update the P775/P750 based models because they're busy developing the Zen+Vega based alternative to the existing monopolies that we consumers so desperately need.

    The plain "Ducky" mechanical's look great, and wouldn't be out of place on the P870 series, or TKL version's even on the P7/P6's, RGB or not, with CherryMX or "KBTalking" alternative switches seem nice too.

    I doubt Clevo would "game up" their laptops.

    That "all white" keyboard in the video makes me think an all white P870 would be awesome. :)

    P37xSM --> P37xSM-A has this beat. They literally changed the back cover and apparently fixed a mSATA bug and put 800M instead of 700M GPUs.

    A mechanical key action requires the base be extended by the size if a keyboard which would make the size silly.

    I would have liked to see a single large continuous cooling grill at the back with a 4th FAN and a vapor chamber for CPU as they already have for the GPUs. Kaby FLake ain't no snowflake...
    They also had time enough to update the DP to v1.4.
    A full sized (non-mechanical) keyboard to fill the empty space would have fitted just fine, but there maybe no-one making it for them without special order...

    Also as @Eurocom Support said, if no-one except them is asking for an X299/Skylake-X model we won't be seeing it coming from Taiwan...
    Clevo continued to build the P570WM just for them (for a long time after going EOL with all other re-seller) and professionals and prosumer put it to good use for some heavy duty in the field action.
    For them gamer are forming the smallest group of their customer base...

    First off, my apology if I'm posting this in the wrong forum.

    I'm also looking for a new desktop monitor to go along with my P870KM1. I don't trust the reviews that I see on sites like Amazon or Newegg, there's just too may fanboys running around. I'm currently leaning toward Benq, their 27" or 32" monitor, no specific model yet.

    What are you guys using? I'm looking to spend up to $1,000 USD, but prefer something in the $500 range. Non 4K, 1440p with high refresh rate. I'm open to any type of panels, screen size 27" to 35", and a good warranty.

    I like my X34. It overclocks to 100Hz without a hitch. You may be able to get one used for less than 1K, especially if you wait for the refresh that's supposed to be coming out very soon.
